The Obex is an overstable midrange made with quality Vibram X-link rubber. This disc provides a smooth release and can handle powerful headwind throws. Vibram says that if you throw this disc at 56 miles per hour it will fly for 380 feet. Most disc golfers don’t throw this fast. The reviewers at Inbounds disc golf estimate that the average advanced player will throw this disc about 300 feet, with 56% low speed fade.

I don't know how much longer this will be relevant since Vibram is no longer progressing with their disc golf line, but I really liked the Obex. It's maybe not as over stable as the initial flight ratings suggest, but it's got a good feel. Like a small beaded Roc or a Bard with a lower shoulder.

I really like it as a mid for backhand up to 330, it gets a bit of turn and then has a slow gradual fade into the target. it can take some power, and the feel it very nice in the Granite Med rubber.

Just about anyone could bag one with confidence, but very early players would find it over stable.

The Obex is one of my favorites because of its versatility. Also, because the Granite line looks so awesome! I get comments all the time asking what kind of disc it is or people wanting to throw it.

My Granite line Obex is max weight and excels at medium range straight shots, medium range hyzers, short hyzers, all approaches, even long putts. The numbers can be misleading if you're unfamiliar to Vibram's ratings, but a beat-in Obex is just about the perfect disc for those short, wooded courses. Without an Obex in the bag, I'd definitely struggle with my short game.

A beat-in Obex flies very similar to a brand new Ibex. Once broken in, the Ibex becomes more understable, whereas the Obex works in a little turn and still retains its stability. My beat-in Obex flies very similarly to a Titanium Buzzz -- it's the only Buzzz I own, so I can't compare it to other Discraft plastics.

The best feature of the Obex, besides its otherworldly durability, is its knack for sticking approaches. It's not plastic, so it doesn't skip away like other mids. The Obex also acts like a lid on upshots, powering down and landing without a skip. I've made a number of long putts in the 50' range and putts around trees with the Obex. The only thing it doesn't do great is turnover shots, but it wasn't designed for that.

I highly recommend the Obex for discers seeking a versatile mid that can fill multiple slots in the bag. It's the perfect mold for those single-disc rounds. And you won't find a more durable product than what Vibram makes.
