The Ursus is an overstable mid/approach disc that is made to fly straight and have a consistent overstable finish at the end of its flight. This disc has a thin profile and bead that will be comfortable for forehands and backhands. The Ursus is made to simplify that treacherous 150 to 300 foot approach. It’s torque resistant enough to not flip while not being ridiculously overstable at the same time.

    171g Glow Granite Ursus.

Purchased after watching a video interview of the founder and after seeing another video of the disc in flight.  I was looking to fill a slot in my midrange discs: something a little more stable than a new Roc3.

I like the plastic: it feels substantial, thicker than most discs including across the flight plate.  I suspect it will take longer to beat in than average as with premium plastics.

Two field practice days: one day with steady wind of 15mph and a second day with no wind.

The disc flight was predictable, stable, and consistent for fade and turn.  Forehand/Backhand didn't matter.  I was not able to get any turn out of the disc, but I do have have the fastest arm.  On force-over anhyzer shots it held the angle much longer than I expected before fighting out to flat and then a gentle hyzer finish.  In the hands of a more talented player, I suspect this could lead to some good distance.  When thrown on hyzer, it simply held whatever angle through the flight path and to the ground.

The wind did not seem to impact the turn or fade much at all.  I can trust this disc left to right.

There was a pronounced lessening in glide when thrown in either a head wind or tail wind.  It will take more time and practice in wind before I have a good feel for the distance range of this disc in wind.

Comparing it to other discs in terms of stability, it is not as stable as my newer DX Roc3 but was slightly more stable than my beat-in DX Roc3. The flight seems most similar to my KaxeZ, but slower.  For me it is stable, but not over stable.

My rating is not based on the mold not meeting the role I was looking to fill.  The reduced glide in wind creates ranging challenges. Event so, this is a solid disc and I'm looking forward to future releases from this manufacturer.

If you're a newer player or a player with a slower arm (say, less than 250feet of true distance) this is going to have a strong hyzer flight path.
