My Flight Ratings: 9/5/-5/2 Very Beginner Friendly Throwing Distance: 250 Straight Score: Very Understable

Lightweight Fission is only for noobs.

Because I liked the plasma so much, I bought the Fission in lighter weight (150g) for uphill shots, to replace my lost lightweight Opto Sapphire (156g), hoping to again get good distance, cheat gravity.

Instead of giving more distance, thrown flat and hard (for me, I'm not a high arm speed), this fission Trace turns and burns before it can get as far as it should.  I'm not even thinking fh with this.

I do see firstcomers to the sport using it, but they'd probably be better off with a gstar Hawkeye, or the lightweight Sapphire.

An alternative from MVP for beginners would be the proton Jet (for under 350ft, faster than that it turns over if you don't hyzer-flip it).  Potentially also the Lift but I've only read all the reviews, haven't tried it myself.

The regular weight (174g) plasma Trace is a great disc.  If you're looking at this model specifically for the flight numbers, 11 5 -1 2, go and navigate your way to the plasma.  Has a wonderful feel in hand, looks great, goes far, with a decent fade.  It's a Destroyer or Nuke for advanced beginners or early intermediates.
