The Dynamic Discs Marksman Basket is the ultimate practice putter. This narrow disc golf target is substantially thinner than PDGA approved targets, and will help improve your putting accuracy. After putting practice with the Marksman,  a traditional basket will seem huge and you'll find yourself making a higher percentage of putts.

If your putting game could use some help, invest in a DD Marksman practice basket today.

This is one serious practice basket. The construction leaves you with no doubt that this basket will last. Assembly was very easy and fast.
This basket was designed to hone your putting skills during practice so that out on the course no putt will not find its target.

The Marksman is a great investment if you are looking to gain some confidence on the putting green. After putting on this, the standard basket seems huge!

As other reviews have pointed out, you have to be careful not to get upset or discouraged about spit outs as you putt on this. A dead-center, flat putt has a high tendency to spit right back out at you. You have to know mentally that a true basket would likely catch it, and move on.

The durability is excellent! It's super sturdy and if you're ok with a little bit of rust, you can even be comfortable leaving it out in the elements. It's not designed to do this, but it actually holds up remarkably well.

I think the sweet spot for these baskets and having tangible results is about 20ish feet. The more you practice 20 footers on a Marksman, the easier the 20 footers become on the course. 30+ is fun, but it can be tough to find a lot of consistency beyond there.

This is a very good quality basket.  Very sturdy and has reliable parts that will withstand all use it gets put through.  This basket has helped me tremendously become a better putter inside the circle.  If you are looking for help outside of the circle, buy a full size basket.  But from 30 feet and closer, this will help you focus on a target and hit it.

I have also taken this out to my local course and used it for a temporary basket during some tournaments and league days.  It is easy to transport in one piece or break down by just taking a few bolts out.

My only dig on this is that when I do carry it, the black paint does rub off on my hands.  Not really bad, but I end up with a few marks on my hands.  It could be solved with a shot of sealer.

I love the Marksman basket. I'm going on my 2nd year and I have went from "he can throw a putter", to "if I hit less than 85% in the circle it's a bad day.

The Marksmen is a fantastic basket for locking your short game in. With its narrow set of chains, it encourages players to put the disc right in the heart of the basket every putt. If you want to be a better putter, this basket is a must.

For the $160 dollar price point this basket is a steal. The construction of this basket is SOLID. Very beefy and durable with screws rather than button construction to keep it in place. This basket is made to last- and Marshall Street has these puppies installed permanently outside in a small pink course. This basket can and will endure the elements.

I have been able to just push the screws in for rapid building and collapsing and have had no issues with the stability of it.

The basket is a challenge! If you are the type that easily gets upset at chain outs or or pole rebounds, you will get upset with this basket. With the smaller dimensions this basket punishes the slightest mistakes. Be patient and this basket will improve your game. Going from a marksmen to a regulation basket it looks like you are putting at barn!

I was hoping this basket would be a touch more portable- but I am happy to trade a bit of portability for sturdiness and longevity.

    Highly recommend it!

The Dynamic Discs Marksman basket surprised me. For the longest time the Bullseye Basket was the only target really designed to focus your putts on the center by giving you a smaller diameter of chains to hit. Considering the significant price difference, $70 cheaper, I was expecting a much worse catching target and much lower quality. The Marksman is anything but that. It is lighter and clearly has cheaper materials than the Bullseye, but the material difference is not the same as the price difference. The Marksman is a much better value than the Bullseye basket.

This basket is unforgiving to any sort of error in your putt, which is fantastic. If you miss even the slightest to the right or left, there is a good chance of your disc sliding off the bucket or spitting off the chains. For the most part, this basket will catch a good putt. Fast, spin-putters should beware, because harder putts seem to bounce off the pole and spit out even when they are dead center. This is the only problem I observed of catchability while testing out the Marksman basket.

It is very portable, although not the lightest. I don't consider that to be a problem because heavier baskets tend to last longer and have higher quality materials. The pins hold the basket together so you can transport the entire thing easily from one place to another during your practice routine, since it won't fall apart no matter where you pick it up. The bolts/pins do make portability via vehicle a little more difficult, because they have to be taken out and kept track of if you want to dismantle the basket and transport it. For the lazy ones, I was able to fit the whole thing into the back of my compact car in the backseats without taking it apart, although it was a very tight fit.

Overall, I think the Marksman is a much better option than the Bullseye basket. It is lighter, more portable, much cheaper without much of a drop in quality, and it gets the intended job done. If you are looking for a cheaper option than the bullseye to hone in those putts to the center pole, try out a Marksman basket today.

Dynamic Discs is a fantastic company that produces quality merchandise and never disapponts, their new Marksman basket is no exception to this standard. This basket is very high quality, especially when you consider the price point. It has a very sturdy construction, and can be assembled/disassembled very quickly; in about 3 minutes.

This is essentially a little brother to their Recruit basket. They did introduce some new, upgraded features. One was welding the nuts into the pole construction. So now all it takes is a few bolts and an allen wrench for assembly. Also, because both the Recruit and Marksman break down into five major pieces they can be a bit wobbly when put together. To remedy this, Dynamic Discs created some very small threaded allen wrench pieces that tighten the basket together. These upgrades are extremely effective and I hope the new Recruit baskets have the same adjustments. I was also really impresssed with the actual basket/bucket on the Marksman. It has vertical sides and is deep, so it can hold a lot of discs without them effecting the functionality of the basket and chains.

If you are looking for a good first practice basket, that is similar to the ones you play with at your local course, this is not it. This is a unique basket with a smaller diameter and only one row of chains. You really have to hit the sweet spot on this basket to get putts to stay. This construction means that this basket will not act like, or catch discs, the same way.

I believe it can be very good for practicing, and allow you to zero in on hitting your mark, but you must remain aware of your putting stroke. I noticed that after using this basket I was able to putt at full sized baskets with ease. However, I also started to develop a different, softer putt to allow discs to come to rest in this basket more often. If I were to keep using this basket, I would remain conscious of my "normal" putting stroke and make sure not to adjust it for the basket, but only use it for its aiming improvements.

Overall this is a fantastic basket that I would recommend as an addition to other baskets. If I was purchasing my first basket, I would not choose something so unique. I would choose a basket that was more traditional, like the Recruit. This is a lot of fun to shoot at, and in my opinion, it does improve my putting using an "aim small miss small" mindset. The Marksman will definitely find its way into my basket family very soon.

The Marksman is a basket designed to increase your focus on smaller targets so when you play on a regulation basket, you’ll have more confidence and accuracy. It is a high quality basket that doesn’t grab discs particularly well, but that’s not what is it supposed to do. The Marksman is DD’s response to the Bullseye basket, only at a lower price point. You can bounce discs off the pole, but that isn’t too bad because most of those putts would stick on a regular basket. And that is the point of this one.

Pros: Well made, great target basket.
Cons: Most likely will only be used to practice (although I have seen them used in unsanctioned tournaments), tools needed to disassemble.

Overall assessment: If someone has a regular-sized basket, I would recommend this basket for putting practice. If you are only going to have one basket, I would recommend getting a full-sized one first, since they would be better in more situations other than putting. If you want to hone your putting, this would be a good one to get. It’s reasonably priced and built to last.

Dynamic Discs has come out with another quality product. This basket is solid, fairly easy to put together, looks good and feels like course quality (only smaller). The chains are thick and the tray is sufficiently deep to handle a whole stack of putters.

I have mixed feelings about using the Marksman as your a primary practice basket. For short putts, where I'm going to hit a high percentage of putts anyways, I love it, because it really forces you to concentrate and get dialed in. Then when you get on a normal sized basket, it feels big. For longer putts, I'm not a fan of the small size of the Marksman. When I miss so many putts in a row, I lose confidence. I'd prefer seeing the putter go in more often than not.

If you're looking for a niche backyard practice basket, the DD Marksman is a substantially better value than the Gateway Bullseye, at equivalent quality.
