I got this basket for my first father's day present. It's lightweight enough to move around the yard, yet durable enough to take a beating. Takes seconds to dismantle and set up, and is easy to throw in the car and go. My buddy and I have taken it camping three years in a row. This year, unfortunately, I lost the cap to the top in transit. It would be easy enough to fashion a replacement out of a bolt and washer, but I emailed MVP and told them what happened. They shipped me another one for free and it arrived in two days. Talk about a great company!
It's a phenomenal basket for the price. If you're looking for portability and durability, skip the canvas baskets. The cloth will break down. The metal on this basket is coated and doesn't seem to rust. It's a no-brainer.
Also, did I mention it has dual chains just like a real basket? You can't beat this basket. Just buy it.
Great basket for practice... Comes with stakes to anchor it down, but I haven't had any issues with it wanting to tip over. Tha chains ring a bit loud but it's the sound of goodness, so it's no big deal to me. No complaints here...
I do agree with B Jones about the inner chains and how they're mounted, but I came up with a quick, easy and under $5 fix... auto parts store, vacuum hose, and a razor blade... cut pieces of the hose to center each of the chains in place... 15 minutes and no sweat later... no more inner chain movement and doesn't look lke a "hack" job...
The description of this basket does not include the fact that the chains on this basket are a lighter weight than what you will see on the courses you play. The Black Hole Pro basket has the course weighted chains.
Now for the actual review. This basket is an easy, quick build. Light weight, yet very sturdy. It comes with stakes so you can anchor it to the ground, for a bit more stability (not necessary for putting). Regulation size, and it is still easy to move around. The chains are a bit loud when you hit them, but not a big issue for me.
The only con this basket has would be how the inner row of chains attach. Both rows of chains have their own ring that sits right about the basket, to make assembly quick and easy. The outer row of rings attach right over hooks, which are easily visable in the picture. The inner layer attach by carabineer to the top. This gives the inner chains the ability to slide back and forth a bit, somewhat reducing the affect of having two layers of chains. That being said, I have still not had any spit outs, or throughs, becuase of this. If the first side of chains didn't catch it, the back side did. The inner layer does move some, but it has yet to cause me any real issues.
This basket definitely is a good purchase. I am very happy with mine, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good basket to work on their putting game.
