The Lariat is a straight-flying fairway mold. It works as an excellent stable control driver, capable of holding a large variety of lines. This has the ability to be your workhorse disc, as it can fly straight, hold hyzer lines and anhyzer lines, all to ensure that you have the accuracy that you need.

My disc: 173g Bravo Glow Halloween Edition - Headless Horseman Lariat

Normally, getting a disc that flies so different than its rated numbers would make me want to lower my review score a decent amount. However, I think I actually got lucky. My specific disc is very understable when given the beans. This allows for big hyzers to turn into extremely long consistent turns. I find it touchy to get this disc to flip up and fly straight, but I love it for late turn that does not want to easily turn into a roller. I find the bravo glow plastic to pretty quickly become soft in a way that is comfortable in the hand. This disc feels great for me on forehand and backhand. I don't know if it is the plastic or the mold but I find this more comfortable than my trail.

Reviewing for the Glow plastic variation of the Lariat.

The disc flies true to its numbers, exhibiting a somewhat easy turn that's mild, but also a reliable and mild, forward pushing fade.  Profile of the Lariat is very much a mirror image of a Discraft Undertaker, with the same flat (L) wing, and a decent shoulder raise to an above average dome.  The rim of the Lariat is slightly wider than an Undertaker, so to I would consider it a slightly faster Undertaker.  If the Lariat is a 9 speed, the Undertaker is an 8 speed.   You can reliably crank on the Lariat without worrying about it turning and burning.  I was getting just as much distance with it when compared to my other favorite neutral 9 speeds like the Dynasty/CD2, Sidewinder, and FX-3.

    TLDR:

I recommend the Glow Lariat as a stable 9-speed driver.

    About Me:

I am a longtime recreational player. I throw an even mix of righthand back/forehand and drive about 300-350'. I throw 170+ weight discs, my fastest discs are speed 9, and I don't throw discs with relative stability (the sum of turn/fade) greater than 2 for anything other than utility shots or strong headwinds.

    Why This Disc?/Comparison:

I picked up a max weight Glow Lariat as a potential replacement for my '21 Halloween Eclipse Insanity in my glow bag. The slot in my bag the Insanity fits in is behind my Mad Cat (OS) and before my Mantra (US). The Insanity is my go to stable driver, but it can be a tad OS if I fail to apply enough snap. The Lariat has been much more forgiving in this respect.

    Aesthetic/Feel:

Like the rest of the Lone Star Glow discs I've tried, the glow on the Lariat is bright and lasts for a long time. The wing feels comfortably smooth, and the rim is reminiscent of an average 9-speed stable disc. Not that it matters in the big scheme, but I find the stamp to be pretty bland. It sort if reminds me of an Old El Paso salsa label.

    Performance:

Bland stamp or not, the Lariat rips. It is true to its numbers. With a mild headwind, I can hyzerflip it backhand for a gentle turn and get a nice little pushing fade at the end of its flight. Adjusting to flat or anhyzer release angle, I can get the same backhand results in no-wind or tail wind conditions, respectively. I don't trust it in a strong headwind for anything but a turnover, but that's no surprise for a stable disc.

I think my favorite thing about the Lariat is how well it mirrors its flight pattern from backhand to forehand. I have had some excellent hyzerflip sidearms with about 70-80% power that absolutely threaded in narrow fairways. Sometimes I need an anhyzer sidearm turnover for weird fairways where a backhand hyzer could fade out too soon, and it's worked really well for that shot, too.

    Pros/Cons:

    + Easily controlled distance

+ Good for back or forehand

    - Not reliable for much more than turnovers in strong headwinds

    - Boring stamp

    Does It Make The Bag?

For now, the Lariat has replaced the '21 Halloween Eclipse Insanity in my glow bag. The stable 9-speed slot is probably the most frequently contended slot in my bag, so it may not be a lifer, but I've been having fun with it so far.

169g in glow plastic. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 star, I haven't tried enough discs to truly know(am beginner). All that said, This disc is my sole confidence boost on the course. Slight hyzer and flips up perfect. It just goes for days. Glow plastic feels excellent as far as grip goes. Perfect disc to learn how to throw 9 speeds once your more confident in your arm/form.
