GLIDEY. I've had this disc for a couple years and didn't give it the love it truly deserves. This disc will get you easy distance and turns over like a dream. Laser straight with a little hyzer release or beautiful turn over when thrown with moderate power. With how glidey and understable this disc, any beginner will reap the benefits of this disc. For more intermediate players, it's an awesome option to power down and still get the distance you need while being able to throw some fun lines. K1 Soft is perfect for this slot for me, super easy to spin off release and watch it gooooo!

The Svea in K1 soft is an excellent turning midrange! When thrown with power, this will turn and not look back, but it never feels uncontrollable. If given enough height, it flattens out of a steep turnover at the end of its flight just enough to land softly and stick in place.

The K1 soft plastic is sometimes too gummy to give me a reliable hand feel, but that's also the characteristic that makes it reliable when it hits the ground, preventing it from taking large skips or rolls. Despite the way it feels in my hand, I always seem to release it where I want it to go.

Easily my most reached for disc, even when there are better alternatives. People generally love or hate the Svea, which I get, but if you're a fan of hyzer flips and don't mind domey mids it's hard to do better in a "straight" to understable mid. The thing just glides and glides and glides. Be aware that with most Kasta discs, especially with K1 soft, it's going to be flippier than the numbers suggest. It took a bit to stop accidentally releasing mine flat with power and have it turn hard into the ground. Not the straightest mid in the world, but incredibly fun to throw, and a brilliant beginner disc to start throwing flat shots, and with time learning hyzer flips. Just don't expect to release it flat and have it ride straight if you're throwing much farther than 250-300ft.

Just to pre-frame things, I have been playing more seriously recently but have played on and off for about 8 years. I am right hand dominant with a pretty even split between forehand and backhand shots. My honest drive distance is around 275-300 feet with a max of around 350 on a good day.

Plastic: I know everybody freaks out over kastaplastic but this stuff truly is special. Other manufacturers are starting to mimic it but the K1 soft plastic is the best of everything. Good gummy flex but not floppy and will hold up to torque well, even forehands. It grips well even in the rain. Holds up to hitting trees and normal wear pretty well. Only thing I will say is that this stuff will get shredded by asphalt really easily if you play somewhere near paved areas or walking paths.

Feel: Honestly the rim took a little getting used to on the Svea. I am used to throwing a Fuse as my understable mid range and the feel is different. After I got used to it, the disc is money. No other disc can glide with such ease with about a gentle pushing turn. The K1 soft plastic has a perfect blend of tacky grip and smooth feel with some give to it. The svea has a wider diameter than many other midrange discs I have thrown.

Flight:  As with most understable mid range discs, this disc requires speed control and finesse to get the best flight out of it. This is not a disc to push the limits of your power with. A slow, smooth control throw will be rewarded. It is great for the woods where shorter control shots are required. The svea will get bullied by the wind with its wide diameter and great glide so keep that in mind with disc selection. It is a great disc to learn angle control as it can hold a clean line when thrown correctly. That being said, if your form is sloppy this thing can turn and burn quickly. A flat shot will travel with gentle fade most of the flight and finish flat. Hyzer release will flip up to flat and continue straight.

Overall I am really enjoying the Svea.  It will compete with my normal Fuse for a spot in the bag. If you are looking for an solid understable mid range in an exceptional plastic, don’t hesitate to try the svea. Good beginner disc to learn angle control as well.

I love a good understable midrange, and this one is killer. I'm an average thrower (300 ft max), and find this disc to be very controllable. It can be thrown straight reliably, or turned over for a smooth left to right pan. It hasn't burned over on me yet.

The plastic is excellent as well. I have it in K1 soft which is pretty gummy with fantastic grip. Recommend the disc for most skill levels.

Ahh the Svea. I have had a love hate relationship with this disc since I first picked it up a while back. My review here is specifically for the K1 Soft as I have not thrown it in any other plastic type. If you're a beginner, it will teach you power and angle control like no one's business. The Svea is a harsh teacher, but one that means well and wants you to succeed. If thrown poorly, it will turn and burn over. If thrown cleanly even with power, you can get pretty crazy distance out of it. It was the first mid I've thrown to go over 300ft. It works best on hyzer-flip lines that flip up and ride straight or with slight turn. The glide on the Svea is insane for a mid. You don't need to put a ton of power behind it to get good distance. I say its somewhat beginner friendly due to the finesse required to get it to fly correctly. It is also a bit larger in diameter than other mids so that may be off-putting to some. Its comfortable to me personally. Very solid disc coming from Kastaplast.
