I am really not a fan of the wombat. My particular one is 180 g & that may be a big part of why I don't love it.

It just seems like you are throwing a circle shaped brick through the air. The nose of the disc loooooves to come up and stall the disc out.

I switched to a Mako3 and have been very pleased with that.

I have "old man arm". I can sling this disc without hurting my shoulder. It flies straight as an arrow and glides for days. Probably my favorite disc.

I purchased in May & this is my absolute favorite disc right now. If you need a disc for that 250 ft tunnel shot that you haven't been able to crack...this is for you.

First couple of throws I turned it over hard to the right. If you want a straight throw, start it on an ever so slight heizer. If you want a slight fade to the right, let if go flat. It will hold an anny line as long as you don't throw it too hard. It is a little 'touchy' and will dump right if you put too much on it.

On my 174g G-Star Wombat you definitely feel the 6 glide. As I've gotten more comfortable with the disc I'm finding myself overshooting if I put 100% power into it. But 80% power on an ever so slight flip up & this disc is money.

I absolutely love this disc. Man does it ever hold a line!  Throw it anhyzer and it stays anhyzer!  It's fantastic for throwing on side slopes that need an anhyzer. I'm a bit older now (68) and just getting back into my game. If nothing else, this disc really boosts my confidence because it's hard to make a bad throw.  I've heard that it isn't so great in the wind and I would expect that from a high glide disc, but it is especially great for throwing down wind and up slope.  The flight ratings are right on too. I plan to use it mainly as a fairway driver and midrange shots, and some short tee drives as well.

This disc should be in everyone's bag! It will hold any line you put it on. Great for any level player. Thrown hard it will turn slightly and land flat. Just as the numbers suggest, zero fade, lots of glide.

This thing does not like to be thrown hard. It was a great disc when I was first learning how to play since it's under-stability would be pretty forgiving when thrown on a hyser at a low speed. But, now I find myself reaching for a putter before I grab this disc. It's very difficult to dial in the turn, especially in GStar plastic.

I can't believe more players aren't throwing this disc.  Perhaps because when thrown hard it flips and keeps going, and doesn't come back.

It is not very good into the wind.

This disc takes some getting used to.  When thrown flat and about 75% power it really shines in situations where you have to go slightly right.  There's no need to put any special angle on the throw. Just throw it flat and the disc always does the work.  A GREAT disc for tight fairways where a slight turn is needed.  I've been able to park shots with this disc I can't park with any other midrange.

The G-Star plastic is wonderful and grippy and doesn't skip.  Land it by the pin and reach over and drop it in the basket!

I look at the Wombat as the next step from a disc like the Mako3, traveling in the direction of understability. I currently bag the Mako3 and love it. The Wombat for me has similar glide, but is beaded, and will hold those anhyzer lines until the end.

One of the characteristics I really love about the Mako3, is that it flattens out of an anhyzer just a little bit. The Wombat is a disc that will hold that line. The Wombat is a little too flippy for me personally, but I do have a lot of fun throwing it. I could see myself using it for softer shots, or medium speed tunnel shots. When I throw this disc at about 50-60%, it gives me a little flip and just floats strait forever.

I think with a softer touch, the Wombat could hold a light hyzer, but expect it to flip up. As a disc for a new player, or someone with a little less arm-speed, this could be an awesome disc! It's a disc I let my girlfriend use when we play and it's one of her favorites. In the Gstar, I could also see the Wombat being a fun disc to warm up with before a round. If you are looking for an understable mid-range, check out the Wombat.

Holy moly. Just got this bad boy in. Through it some in my yard and it was gliding very straight. Took it to my local course, tunnel shot with the cage sitting slightly right at the end. 190 feet. Aced it. First one ever. I am in love! Perfect disc for those straight shots, slight anhyzer is nice to. Really whatever line you put on it goes, add some power and it tends to pop up straight. Just get it! Mine is 171g

I love this disc for hyzer flip tunnel shots at about 250-300 feet. However, it is not very good in a wind even in the max weight, also not very good for power shots. But a soft toss with this disc will go straight where you throw it.

This is an AMAZING straight flying disc. I have a Gstar shark (fades left at the end, im a right handed thrower) which I love as well but this disc is such a great new disc, straight as an arrow. Its great for tunnel shots through the trees or even a wide open long range straight shot. Im a huge fan, been playing the game for about 10 years.. Its also a really nice long range putting disc because it stays STRAIGHT, did I mention that??  Id pick one up and im telling everyone i play with to do the same.. Well done INNOVA!

For me this was a nice midrange disc overall. I'd say this VTech rim definitely changes the flight. More than any other midrange I've thrown, this disc seems to resist fading at the end of the flight. Overall for me, this disc is probably too understable, but I could see newer players really liking the way this disc fits in the hand and the way it flies. I would say players in any skill level could really like this disc.

Picked this disc up a few weeks ago from Infinite. At first I really wasn't a fan, partly because I havent been a huge fan of GStar plastic in anything but drivers. Now that I have actually used this disc several times it has grown on me and has become one of the best anhyzer discs I have had the pleasure of throwing. For me and line I put it on it will hold with little to no fade.

I tried this disc in GStar plastic (the only plastic this disc is made in, for the time being) at 180 grams.

Pertaining to the physical properties of this disc, the biggest difference between this disc and almost every other disc that you've thrown is the VTech (convex) wing configuration. Initially the VTech rim feels a little odd in your hand, but I would mainly attribute that to the fact that I had never thrown anything with a true convex wing shape before; and honestly, you don't notice it while you're throwing. Another thing that is a little different is the bead on this disc, which I think is thicker than the beads on a Roc, or even a Gator. Although I am used to throwing discs with larger beads, it does make the disc itself feel quite substantial, which could be problematic for people who aren't used to throwing discs with a decent sized bead (which is typically newer players), as well as people who have smaller hands.

The flight of the disc itself is very close to what it is rated at; it is about as fast as every other speed 5 disc I've thrown, it has some high speed turn, and almost no low speed fade. The only thing is that I wouldn't consider this disc to have as much glide as advertised; to me the amount of glide this disc has is about the same as a decently seasoned Rancho Roc (4). I will say that I am a huge fan of the VTech style rim for the fact that even when thrown with a lot of snap and into a decent headwind the Wombat did not turn more than I expected it to; which usually isn't the case for discs that have any degree of high speed turn. Although after throwing a VRoc, I think the VTech rim is what is causing the glide of these VTech discs to not quite measure up, and this really impacts the range in which you can achieve.

Although I am a fan of how the VTech style wing limits the amount of high speed turn that the disc has, the Wombat won't be finding it's way into my bag. Simply put, the high speed turn is too much to use this disc as a strait flying mid, and not quite enough to use this as a turnover mid for me. I would think this disc would be amazing for newer players with slower arm speed who are looking for a wind fighting/approach mid though, due to the resistance this disc has to turn too much, as well as it's not too glidey nature, but I could see the large bead and fairly large feel of the rim of the Wombat making it considerably less appealing to newer players, and players with smaller hands.

This is an update of my earlier review, after using my green 167g GStar Wombat very extensively on several courses featuring tight technical shots (i.e. getting around trees) and open field shots.  I'm finding that by using a full, four-fingered "power grip", I can mitigate the negative effects of the bead.

I have found that the Wombat drifts right (RHBH thrower) and will not come back left unless thrown on a hard hyzer or if it hits a tree(!).    I like throwing it on mild anhyzers on dogleg-right holes.  It is possible to overpower this disc, so I rarely try a full power, full length throw with it.

I also had a female friend who is a relative beginner throw the Wombat.  She got better glide out of it than most of the other discs she was throwing, and she liked it.  Ergo, I'd recommend the Wombat to beginners if they like beaded discs.  All-in-all, the "combat Wombat" continues to be a formidable weapon on the disc golf course.

Someone called the Wombat "a Foxbat with a bead", and that's pretty accurate.  There ARE some slight differences between the two models.  I took my green 166g GStar Wombat and my green 170g Star Foxbat to the course for a side-by-side comparison.  You can read my review of the Foxbat on that model's page. The course was a mixture of open field holes and woods (technical) holes, so I got some really good comparison opportunities.

The Wombat flies very straight with some drift to the right (for RHBH like me) with little fade at the end.  It is understable, and occasionally made right hand turns and did not fade back.  It indeed does resist torque better than the Foxbat.  Also, I found that on throws where I threw with more power, the Wombat responded well, while the Foxbat is more "touchy";  so for longer throws I'd reach for the Wombat.  When thrown with moderate power (controlled shots for better accuracy), the Wombat and Foxbat flew about the same distance.

As said above, the Wombat is beaded, and for me personally that was a bit of a problem;  I found myself getting my fingers "caught" and releasing the disc a bit late, causing the straight-flying Wombat to go where I threw it:  to the right.  I'll get better with that as I work with the disc and get used to it.

The Wombat was my first foray into GStar plastic.  I liked the feel of the disc, and it is aesthetically pleasing to my eye.  Overall, the Foxbat remains my favorite disc in my bag, but the Wombat is not bad at all, and the biggest consideration when someone is trying to decide between a Wombat and Foxbat will be a preference for a beaded or beadless disc..

For me the Wombat is just like Innova describes, a super straight flyer that withstands more torque than the Foxbat. This disc effortlessly glides perfectly straight. A gentle throw with a healthy amount of snap will send the Wombat right where you aim with virtually no end of flight fade as long as you keep the nose down and low to the ground. I really liked the flight path of the Foxbat, but it was just too sensitive for me. The Wombat gives me that same flight but with more reliability.

My 172g GStar Wombat, at least brand new is far more stable than the Foxbat. My first few throws with this disc I released at a slight hyzer angle thinking it would flip up like the Foxbat does for me. It did not but held the hyzer line perfectly. It will probably also hold an anhzyer angle pretty well, but I'm so bad at anhyzer throws I'm hardly a credible source.

With a moderate power throw I can get almost as much distance with the Wombat as I can with a driver. The difference is that this flys dead straight rather than right to left or a big S-curve all over the sky. Playing a round with only the Wombat, I shot better than my course average. If you're looking for a glidey midrange that flys straight, with a little more stability than the Foxbat, I highly recommend this disc.
