Review based on using Star Stud I have thrown Dx as well

Bottom Line Up Front: This disc is well worth your time, and completely overlooked and underrated.

I believe the Stud is the same bottom mold as the Colt and thus maybe (heh) the Tomb. It is a much better throwing approach disc than a putting putter in my opinion. It comes off the hand clean for forehand or backhand. It makes nice night straight lines or baby flexes. It was my jam for forehand approaches. Best of all Star Studs are pretty readily available and never priced crazy. I do recommend the penned ones over embossed, but they're both good. I've seen Nathan Queen do work with them on coverage. I could easily recommend this for someone to learn driving putters with. It feels a little like a mid. I dig it.

Similar Discs: Colt and the TOMB! It shares a lower mold. I bag a Tomb over the Stud as a preference. Try them both out.

This is such an underrated disc!  I first picked one up in DX and picked up another in Star plastic.  First of all, this disc does perform wonderfully in the wind.  It takes a pretty strong wind to knock putts off the line.  Second, it performs off the tee.  In Star plastic, it can withstand the torque of a power grip and is great up to 250 feet.  Finally, this is one of my favorite approach discs.  During league play, I routinely use this disc and park it next to the basket causing many in my group to ask, "what did you just throw?"  The Stud is truly a do it all type of disc inside 250 feet.

Perhaps the most underrated throwing putter EVER, the stud has excellent stability to handle lots of power and the chops to be your farthest throwing putter. I would honestly describe its flight as that of a midrange, but slightly shorter distance. Excellent glide and reliable fade at the end.

It's a little domey in star plastic, but still comfortable in the hand. You will NOT regret picking one up as a thrower.

This is the approach disc I've wanted forever. It holds hyzers, anhyzers, and has that little bite at the end.

I got the pleasure of trying out a very nice Star Stud that was given to Dustin Keegan as a tester disc, and I really like the way it flies. It reminds me a lot of a Discmania S-P2, but the glide is more like a Classic Roc or Star Colt. It is predictably straight with a hard but dependable finish.

I acquired a DX Stud from Infinite Discs, whose service is FAST and efficient, so my kudos to Infinite Discs.  I also acquired a Star Stud with the first-run stamp.  The Stud is very very similar to the proto-DX Colt.  I can feel very slight differences in the rim and where the flight plate top drops to the side.  The Stud is more overstable than the Colt;  none of my DX Colts, even brand new, flew as overstable as the Stud.

I took both Studs out to the course and the conditions were very windy.  The Stud really flew well into a headwind, with surprising glide and good distance.  On approach shots, the Stud performed very well into the stiff wind, going straight.  On crosswinds and tailwinds, the Stud exhibits its fade, which is consistent and reliable.  While the Colt is dead-straight, and slightly understable if thrown hard or into a headwind, the Stud is a great partner for more overstable shots, hyzers, and fighting the wind.

On in-the-circle putting, the Colt remains the dead-straight leader while the Stud wanted to fade at 20 ft.  Those who prefer OS putters will like the Stud for putting duties.

I have put the Star Stud/Colt combo into my core bag;  together they are an awesome pair.  These are some of Innova's best offerings, IMHO, and I strongly recommend them.
