My flight numbers are for an average brand new dx Roc at my armspeed (300' with the Roc). There are a couple key things to know about the Roc to love the disc or at least understand the hype:

    1) Grip - this disc (and beaded discs in general) do not perform well with a power grip. If you power grip your mids and putters, first stop doing this as your slow-speed game will improve dramatically, and second you will not like the Roc.

    2) Flight numbers: 4/4/0/3 really applies to premium plastics only.

    3) Plastic - Rocs are special in dx and kc pro plastic. There's honestly nothing too special about the flight of premium plastic Rocs, there are a million discs that do the same, and the only reason I keep a champion Roc in the bag is for the occasional windy shot and to keep use only 1 mid mold. The special and magic aspect of the Roc in base plastic is it LOSES FADE faster than GAINING TURN, and gains glide over time. So a brand new dx roc will be 4/4/0/2, after several rounds it will be 4/4.5/0/1, then 4/5/-0.5/0.5, then 4/5/-1/0, etc. This is really unique among midranges as Innova has both the only molds that do this and the only base plastics that have the right combination performance and durability. Buzz, Truth, and Compass are all fantastic mids and I would have zero complaints using them, but in base plastics they will gain turn and maintain fade, and their base plastics are inferior IMHO. If you prefer premium plastic mids, the Roc is not your disc. If you like base plastics, this is the disc where they shine.

    4) Versatility - I can bomb an Emac Truth basically as far as my fairway drivers, something I cannot quite do with a Roc, but the Buzz, Truth, Compass, etc do not power down nearly as well as a Roc. I don't need my midranges to reach fairway driver distances, but I love having mids that I can power down on as still get the same flight in the 200' and approach range. Incredibly useful in the woods, and I find understable Rocs fly much easier than understable putters, and they're easier to come by. This is due to the magic of Rocs losing fade as they beat in. If I'm traveling, a Roc is the one disc I'm using as it putts like a faster aviar.

    5) Paying it forward - once a dx Roc is too understable for use, simply hand it over to a kid or new player as it is a perfect disc to throw slow and learn touch. Or keep it for underpowered training.

I am a new player and bought this disc in a lightweight version and am loving it so far! I can throw on a slight hyzer and it will flip up to flat and glide for days with a gentle finish at the end

As with most other DX discs, this gets beat in pretty quickly even with moderate use. I'd agree with some of the others' reviews: It's more like -1 Turn, and 2 Fade (maybe even 1.5 as it typically manifested less fade than similar 2-Fade discs I tested it alongside. Not that that's bad, as it's easier to get straighter flights with more controlled throws. The grip is good and it releases from the hand well. I'd just recommend a better plastic grade for longer consistency in its performance.

Been throwing since 89 and Still carry 3-4 in my bag, 1 of which has a 92 Nor Cal series stamp and another, the original ROC stamp. 1 in bubble gum pink, for those who know. And yes Ive shattered a few DX's on brisk morning tree hits, such is the game. Most dependable plastic in my collection, great control and versatility. As mentioned, if I only had one disc to use, the ROC would be the one. Once beat up, turn it over and it stays.

My roc is in DX plastic. It started out pretty stable, and like any baseline plastic, beat into a much more understable flight. Now it will flip up with a minimal fade. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of beaded discs, so this one didn't stick in the bag, but overall it performed well.

If you're looking for something to stay stable, try star or champion, otherwise this will beat into something more neutral/workable.

    probably my favorite disc.

    for context, i average throwing rocs 320, TL’s 370, and destroyers 410 (460 max) based on a rangefinder. i’m at 800’ elevation.

i bag 3-4 Dx rocs at a time. it is my one-disc-round disc. i use it for more shot shapes/styles than any other disc. i use it off the tee on all angles. im from an ultimate and catch background originally so i feel most comfortable with touch shots for approaches -- the roc delivers.

as far as the flight goes, the flight numbers for Dx are inaccurate. I give it a 4/5/-1/1.5 for how neutral, snappy throws. the fade is a 'pushing', not a dumping fade. these beat in to a -2/1 stability or even more if you keep whacking trees. the flight just feels so natural and easy.

i recommend this for all players of all skills unless you are a diehard sidearm only player. this disc teaches you a lot about form. remember, be loose and fast and you'll see this disc soar.

What's there to say that hasn't been said yet. It's an amazing line-shaping disc that teaches you a lot about your form and your angles. I've recently been converted to cycling Rocs and I feel more confident in my mid game than I ever have. Give one a try if you haven't!

Often imitated, never duplicated. A DX Roc is magical. If you're like me, you may have thought that once you reached a certain skill level in disc golf you've moved beyond baseline plastic with the exception of putters. When it comes to the Roc, that would be a mistake. DX plastic was made for this mold. It is one of the most legendary plastic/mold combinations in the history of the sport. Cycling DX Rocs is practically a rite of passage, a sacred ritual, in disc golf.

To not discount baseline plastic was one lesson Rocs taught me. Another was the difference between feel in the hand vs feel in a throw. When I just hold a Roc in my hand at home or at the store it isn't the absolute most comfortable disc I've ever held. It isn't uncomfortable - but it has a large bead and I think a buzzz or other beadless disc feels nicer just to hold. It's tempting to equate this to what people talk of when they say hand feel. But what I realized is when I actually go through the act of throwing - I am more consistent with beaded mids and putters. The Roc feels better when I'm throwing and releasing it. That's the important part and I learned that from the Roc.

Much has been written about the Roc and it's mostly all true. They are straighter than the numbers, even fresh, especially in DX. In DX they are also beautifully glidey (if you get a nice domey one). I would rate DX numbers 4/5/0/2 fresh. They beat in beautifully over time to fill all midrange slots. I have KC Pro, DX, and Star Rocs. KC Pro beat in slower, little less glidey, little more stability fresh. Star's are pretty close to the numbers, good for a stable slot you want to stay that way. I use DX Roc3s basically interchangeably with DX Rocs, they are just slightly more stable out of the box and a little flatter. My favorite Rocs are DX Glow (for a little added grip) Rocs with a little heartbeat. Just buttery flights. Great beginner disc. Pretty neutral but some stability for forgiveness. Will learn how to adjust angles to manipulate lines. And DX Rocs are some of the cheapest discs out there. After much experimenting with different mids, Rocs have become my mid of choice. Still gets the most "What was that?" comments after throws on the course. That was a $9 DX roc, bro. You owe it to yourself to at least try this legendary disc.

For me sometimes Innova's DX plastic can be hit or miss. However, for me, I've never had a DX Roc that's felt bad. The plastic has always felt good and something to me about a baseline midrange just feels right. The plastic is pretty firm but can still bend a little. It will beat in but not too fast. I've had one DX Roc in my bag for 6 months now and I'm now just getting it to flip up. The DX plastic is great for cycling, I plan to eventually have 2-3 DX rocs in my bag. The DX Roc will never be all that overstable plus it beats in pretty quick so I would recommend getting another Roc or Roc3 in a premium plastic so you have an overstable one for a while

I have been playing disc golf since 1998 and DX Rocs have been my go-to mid.  Although I have experimented with and thrown many mid-range molds, I prefer cycling Rocs to any other mold.  DX plastic is inexpensive and has a comfortable feel that provides a reliable grip year-round.  Over the last twenty years, I am sure the DX formula/components have changed, but nonetheless, I instantly feel at home with a DX Roc in hand.  DX plastic works wonders for cycling mids and putters and this is no exception with the Roc.

I feel a new DX Roc has 4 4 0 2 flight characteristics.  I bag four DX Rocs without fail, each in various stages of wear, weighing between 170 -180g.  I prefer flat-top Rocs, but find them increasingly difficult to reliably obtain, and as a result, I have become accustomed to and throw some slightly domey ones.

The oldest Roc in the bag serves as a hyzer-flip/long turnover disc. Flies something like 4 4 -2.5 0  Depending on how many additional trees I hit, this disc is on its last leg, soon to become a roller or beginner-friendly giveaway, and replaced by...

The second oldest Roc in the bag is beautifully beat in and always ends up my favorite in the cycle for dead straight pumps.  Flies something like 4 4 -0.5 0.5  She will flip to flat, can be cajoled into a long swooping hyzer, but loves flying on a straight rope!

The third Roc in the bag has a slight fade finish after a long straight flight.  Flies something like 4 4 0 1

And I always have a fresh DX Roc in the bag for a more pronounced and consistent fade finish 4 4 0 2.

Of note, I bag an additional Champion RocX3 for a truly stable disc with a reliable finish that does not flinch in the wind.

Also of note... I carry 400' of power and find Rocs incredibly torque-resistant.  Don't get me wrong... as I can easily turn one all the way over, but I find that when I rip them with acute angles, the additional power does not dump the disc.

In summary, the Roc is my mid-range disc of choice, has been copied over and over, can fly any line, works very well as a cycle set(one mold, many flight characteristics), and quite simply ROCKS!!!  Give one a try and join the club!

There's been a lot said about the roc, and I believe it all true. Overstable to start and beats in to straight and eventually turning over. Great feel in both the plastic and overall disc design. Maybe not beginner friendly, but recommended more for anything above intermediate.

I bought a mid 160s DX Roc as my first mid. This was the first disc I fell in love with. It flies so smoothly and feels great in the hand. Great thing about DX plastic is it breaks in quickly so it may start off as a little too overstable for some, but as you use it it will get straighter fairly quickly. I still use it as my main mid even as I have improved a lot since I first bought it. It flies straight as an arrow for me with a little finish left and can easily be turned over if needed.

great disc. Beats in pretty quickly in dx so that you can do some nice straight forehand hyzer flips from 150 to 225. Backhand is controllable and does what it should. I usually forehand with the dx and backhand with a champ roc3. For whatever reason it seems like the dx handles forehand torque better than my champ roc3.

DX Roc is by far the OG of midranges. My friend introduced them to me last year and they fly like butter. You need to beat them in to your likeness. Brand new they will fly straight for a fast arm but the slower your arm the more beat in you need to make them. they fly dead straight and hive very little fade at the end.

    2 things to note:

    Not forehand friendly

Very pronounced bead. so if you are a bead hater this is not the disc for you.

Overall I bag 2-3 DX Rocs at different rates of being beat in. Highly recommend as an intro disc to midranges.

    TL;DR
Stable midrange that anyone should be able to throw if they can grip it. It's got a unique older style rim that a lot of people may not like.

    Full:
What can anyone say about this disc that hasn't already been said? It comes in many plastics, however premium plastic is a bit harder to find. Fortunately for us, premium plastic rocs don't fly with the same glide that the base lines do. While many pros throw the KC Pro plastic, they are throwing the older ones that don't feel quite like the new ones. They are grippier and a bit more durable. The new ones are slicker and a lot less durable. Thus I prefer the true DX or Glow DX base lines. You can bag multiples of these in multiple stages of wear. So you don't have to carry 2-3 different molds. They break into wonderful flights, First stage is slightly overstable, second is straight, third is small turn, fourth is a lot of turn. But this is dependent on how long you bag it and throw it. It's not a quick change by any means, but it definitely happens. I love these.

My first midrange was 2 DX roc's my dad gave me. I threw one for about 2 years and it beat in from stable  to understable. I just bought a new one a few weeks ago and it flies just like I remember, I even got an ace on my second throw with it. They start nice and stable but beat in very nicely over time. Great beginner disc learn with.

I got a roc from my brother as a gift in the beginning stages of my disc golf career. Needless to say, the roc became my favorite disc and would be used over fairway drivers. Although I was a beginner the roc felt amazing in my hand and was very easy to control. For some, this might not be the case but I have since given one of my buddies one and he is able to control it well and feels exactly how I felt about it when I first got one. I believe this should be an essential in any disc golfer's bag no matter the skill level.

Classic reliable mid that is very versatile. I use my DX Roc for tunnel shots, windy approaches, and short flex lines. It's not as beefy as my rancho so I cycle this in and out of my bag depending on course or wind. I prefer the rancho on open courses but this will also handle moderate winds well in heavier weights. I like it more than my Buzzz bc it won't turn over as easily under power or in the wind. All skill levels can make this disc shine.

The Roc has been around so long and has been used by so many pros and ams, that describing its life-cycle is almost like a disc golf ritual: it starts out a little overstable, beats-in to a straight shooter, and eventually becomes a reliable turnover disc. So why would someone want a disc like that? For people who play a lot, I think it is about reliability. What will happen to a disc when it beats-in is one of the big unknowns every time you get a new disc, and with the Roc, you know the answer. And, its an answer you can love. Everyone needs a midrange that is overstable, one that is straight, and one that turns over.

More than this reliability, though, cycling Rocs also places you in a tradition of Disc Golf ritual. It is literally the experience of a disc golf liturgy. It brings both psychological comfort and sensual joy. All discs make noise when tapped together, but the sound that three 180g KC Pro Roc's make clanking and sliding against each other is an organ and a well known hymn. When that KC Pro plastic hits a tree, its the soloist in the choir. and when it hits chains, a choir of angels. This is a disc that makes Disc Golf mean more than a hobby, and more than improving your score or winning.

My 180g KC Pro Rocs are my "touchy" discs. I like them best when they get to the point where they turn slowly and consistently and have just a little fade at the end. This makes for some S-shaped shots in the woods that everyone needs. In a field, I can push these 330-350 feet, but realistically, I never use them on shots over 290ft.

Disc(s) - 2 DX Rocs, 3 KC Pro Rocs, Star Roc

Feel - The Roc is classic mid but has a very interesting feel. It has a large bead and large lipped edge. It may fit well into some players hands and not as well in others.

Flight - Obviously the Roc is one of the greatest mids of all time due to the ability to cycle them in KC Pro or DX plastic. I love throwing the roc but I usually do not bag them. I have a set of rocs that could go into my bag depending on how I am feeling that day but at the moment it is so hard to get replacements for discs due to the disc golf boom over quarantine I am trying to shy away from discs that are in base plastic that I would need to cycle through quickly. The flight of the roc is that it starts out pretty overstable (especially the Star Roc) and then beats into a very straight disc and then a great turnover disc. It is a great disc that many people love and I will admit watching a seasoned Roc fly is one of my favorite things in the world to see.

Overall - Great mid if you like the feel and want to cycle your mids

This disc is great for anyone new to the game who needs a consistent midrange. Once beaten in, it will take on a consistent straight shot line when thrown at half power or a smooth turnover at full power. This was one of my first discs and it really helped me in the woods with consistency and accuracy. Much virtual ink has been spilled in the Roc/Buzzz debate. I love both, because while the Buzzz flies dead straight out of the box, the Roc has an overstable flight, a laser straight flight, and a soft turnover flight in one disc.

Bough a Roc for my wife for her first midrange, She named it dwane and has been very successful using it on her 100-150ft ish approaches. Like most everyone has said if you have played disc golf the odds are that you have had one of these in you bag for quite a while until you find your first buzzz. "You don't buy a Roc for what it is, you buy one for what it becomes."

I bought this disc after hearing philo Brathwaite rave about it and watching his In the Bag where he has like 12 different Rocs.

Honestly, I did not like the Roc at all at first. It was not straight as everyone says. It was wayyyy overstable. I kept giving the Roc a chance though because of the quote that I started this review with. As it has broken in more and more, I am finding that I like it more and more also. It is straightening out, but is stable enough to hold up to power.

I have also been throwing the Innova Shark in the same situation and find it to be not as overstable when new, but breaks in to a good flip to flat and ride right sort of disc. I can see the Shark filling the same slot for amateurs that a Roc does for Philo and other pros.

If I could only have one disc for a round of golf, this would be it. The Roc is able to handle high speed throws, excels at approach shots, and will work as a putter in a pinch. When you really get to know this disc, you will gain the ability to shape shots in ways that are just magic. Some feel that molds made in different production facilities (Ontario, San Marino, Rancho Cucamonga) fly differently. I know I used to compete with a beat in Ontario Roc that would turn and glide all day long when released on a forceful hyzer angle. Don't be afraid to get this model in DX plastic and experience it aging like a fine wine. If you're a Roc lover, it's not weird to have multiple weights and levels of new to old aged discs in your bag.

This disc is very beginner friendly and I would recommend the DX plastic if you are near an open course and even the woods for it's control. This disc is a straight flyer and I absolutely love it.

177+g DX Roc, 177+g Star Roc

The roc is one of my favorite midrange discs. Its a beaded straight-stable midrange and one of the all time classics. The bead and rim feel really good in my hand and I've never had a grip issue. DX rocs are so much fun to throw, it's not difficult to throw them, they have glide for days, and beat in rocs are absolute money. Out of the box they're super straight and you can work them on some nice lines and hyzer flips. Beat in you can put them out on some nice slow turns or big anhyzers. Champ/Star rocs are considerably more stable, they'll take some time to season before they are super workable unless you have some power. People love to cycle rocs in DX and pro and will throw them exclusively to cover all their shots. And if you're looking for something more overstable to compliment the roc and fight the wind the roc3 is perfect.

The roc does not have a place in my bag for serious rounds because for straight to understable needs the comet just does it better, and for overstable needs the bard is unbeatable. I still throw rocs every once in a while because they're just great discs.

I would highly recommend any new player to pick up a DX or Pro roc (along with a comet) to start learning on, it's the metric by which all other mids are compared and it will give you a good point of reference if you decide you want to try something else.

If you're searching for a midrange to try, you will not be disappointed in getting this one. I've got a star and DX. For me they are pretty understable so I use the for RHBH turn over shots. the Star Roc I like using for a hyzer-flip shots in the woods. Just looks neat.

What else can be said about the Roc that hasn't been said before. There's a reason this is one of the most popular discs of all time. It can be used for everything from powered down tricky approaches to slow turnovers off the tee and everything in between. DX plastic is a great value and makes it easy to carry multiple Rocs for a cycle. There is a lot of benefit to being able to grab one of the Rocs in my bag for that same familiar feel yet still be able to achieve the desired shot I need.  Lots of people throw KC Rocs for the added durability and stability but I've recently switched back to DX because it feels so much nicer in the hand. A fresh low-dome DX will be just as stable as a KC, in my opinion. That said, I would consider the fade on just about every KC or DX I've thrown to be a 2, in that it's more of a slow forward penetrating fade versus a hard dump left (RHBH). Rocs don't want to be ripped hard, and perhaps that is why many people struggle with them, but with finesse they will get you where you want to go.

The only reason I give this 4 stars is due to Innovas inconsistency. Every manufacturer runs into this, but Innova is the most notorious (probably because they're the biggest?). While Rocs usually don't get a full pop-top type dome, the higher dome ones definitely turn over more quickly. They're still a perfectly throwable mid-range, but low dome is better. Flat tops are ok too, but the low-dome ones are the best.

Pro tip: Well, I'm not a pro but... don't waste your money chasing down USDGC Champ Rocs for throwers every year unless you really want to support the fundraising efforts. Get yourself a Millennium Taurus. It is a Roc with a hardly noticeable spacer added in the rim and Quantum plastic is Champion plastic. The Taurus pairs nicely with a selection of DX Rocs for the most overstable Roc slot.

I bought wo DX rocs in 176 grams. One was yellow and one was orange. I decided I would beat one up so it would hyzerflip and drift right (RHBH), and let one season naturally. However, out of the box the orange one was considerably more overstable so I decided I would beat both up and the orange one would hopefully be straight and the yellow one would be understable However, after one day of hitting about thirty trees with each roc (and a little bit of concrete as well) the orange one was more understable, even though I tried to intentionally beat up the yellow roc more. Also, the orange roc has a chip out of the bead so I learned a lesson not to beat up dx plastic on concrete

    Feel:

    Yellow DX Roc

I like the feel of this roc. It is quite flat and is nice and stiff. It can get slightly bendy in the hot weather and I've heard DX plastic is good for rainy disc golf, though I haven't tested that out much yet

    Orange DX Roc

This roc is a little bit more domey, which I personally don't like as much as the yellow DX roc. I sometimes like the feel of domey discs like my champion roadrunner but I don't think I like it as much for base plastic midranges. Overall, I prefer the feel of my yellow roc to the orange roc

    Flight:

    Yellow DX Roc

out of the box this disc pretty much went straight most of the way and had a noticeable finish to the left for RHBH players. I would rate this out of the box with a 0,2 turn/fade. After beating it up it goes pretty straight and pretty much does a tiny flex, but always has a slight finish left left for RHBH players (unless you literally throw it on over 45 degree anhyzer). Overall, I like this disc for straight shots and slow turnovers and also in the wide open field where I'm not comfortable throwing a putter or fairway driver

    Orange DX Roc

Out of the box this disc had a very noticeable finish to the left for RHBH players. I would actually rate this a 0,3 turn/fade out of the box. After a little bit of seasoning and losing a chip in the bead, this disc would flip up a tiny bit when thrown on hyzer, but still have a left finish for RHBH players. I put this in the dryer a little bit to season it more and it literally has a gray circle about a quarter of an inch in from the rim (I hope it's still pdga legal). It's still not quite as understable (usually hyzerflip and go straight) as I want it to be but I think I'll let it naturally season from hitting trees for now.

Definitely my most used mid-range. For me, the roc has almost no fade, and develops a moderate turn as it beats in. It's a perfect complement to the roc3, which has a moderate fade. The roc has more glide, and less speed than the roc3. My only complaint is that it isn't available in more plastics, since the dx beats in very quickly, and the kc pro feels waxy and slippery to me.

The Roc is one of those discs you hear a lot about when you play disc golf for a while and there has always been so much hype around them. I never really understood why they were talked about so much but after throwing a DX Roc for the first time I do see the praise this disc gets. This thing is a workhorse midrange if you like throwing midranges. I was able to throw this thing flat and it would fly straight with a consistent and reliable fade at the end of the flight every time. It would resist that high speed turnover really well and that's all you can ask for in a midrange that you want to be able to trust. If you enjoy a more stable/overstable mid range that you can put some power on and not worry about it dumping away and turning into a roller go check out the Roc. My buddy has a beat in DX Roc he loves that he can throw on anhyzer lines and get them to glide right the hole way but it looks so nice because it diesn't dump or fade out early. A lot of stable to overstable mids will do one or the other but with it seasoned exactly how you like it you can use this disc for almost all the shots you want to. I think the Roc is a disc any and all disc golfers should try and throw atleast once in their life to see if it is a good fit for them. I have to throw them a bit more to see if they can bump my buzzz or wasp out of my bag but there is a reason a lot of innova players bag a Roc or a Roc 3.

I love the DX Roc so much.  Mine is still fairly new and not very beat up.  It is fairly over stable for a Roc, which is what I would prefer, as I don't want it to become to understable too quick.  Right now the Roc flies very straight but always finishes left.  It is one of the few midranges I have tried that is not very over stable but still won't turn all the way over if I throw it hard and flat.

This is a disc that you can have multiple in your bag and still find use for all of them, they beat in fairly quickly so you can have many Rocs ranging from over stable to understable.  The Roc has a very comfortable feeling and it fits my hand pretty well which makes it rare for me to grip lock or early release this disc.
The Roc is perfect for shots that are right in between Judge distance and Roc3 distance for me.

I highly recommend this disc for any player of any skill level who wants a straight and reliable mid range.

Picked up a Roc in DX plastic a month or so ago and so far I have a love/hate relationship with it.  When I have this disc under control it works wonders.  When my delivery is off it is punishing. My first few rounds with the Roc I fell in love.  My second ever throw with it was a 100ft birdie that nailed down exactly they line I wanted. That may have led to me setting my expectations to high.  It isn't that the Roc won't do what you tell it to, it will, but it will also definitely let you know when your form or release is off. Lately I am having issues turning it over and finding that powering down a little takes it back to the ultra responsive discs I enjoy.  All in all these flaws are my own, when thrown with proper form this disc is magic and the amount of glide took me by surprise.

The DX Roc can be all kinds of different discs over the course of its lifetime.  Off the shelf, it starts out with no flip at all and plenty of fade, just like the flight numbers say, 4 / 4 / 0 / 3.  In a few months' to a year's worth of tree hits, it loses a lot of its fade and develops some turn, something more like 4 / 4 / -1 / 1.5.  From there it continues to trade fade for turn, until it becomes a roller disc, or retires I guess.

It seems like it would be easy to carry nothing but DX Rocs in various stages of wear to fill all of your midrange slots, but depending on how much you play, you might have to plan on buying a new Roc every few months to fill the overstable slot, as Rocs beat in fairly quickly with wear.  My current DX Roc is a 150-class in its midlife, functioning as a super straight midrange with a little turn, but still reliable fade at the end.  Even if it's released slightly off the hyzer angle you were intending, the turn and fade combine to ensure that the disc doesn't go too far off course.

Unfortunately, when I play disc golf with my wife, I don't end up getting to throw this disc very much, because it's one of her favorites.  She'll use this for drives, approaches, and sometimes, even for putting.  When I'm able to use it, I love to throw tunnel shots with this disc.

I have 5 of these in Dx plastic.  Very good disc all around.  Will perform well on almost any line you throw it on.  I think KC is the standard mold now and I just love the shape.  I feel like I can grip this disc better than most, even though the Dx plastic is somewhat slick.  I recommend buying a couple so you can break them in how you like (which doesn't take long).  This disc also has incredible glide.  I can throw this almost as far as some of my drivers.  Do yourself a favor and pick up a few of these.

If you are just starting out this is one of the best go to mid ranges out there. I wish this was included in the starter pack instead of the Shark but I get it. The Roc, even in DX is used by some of the top players because of its ability to hold turn over lines. In DX it is much more understable and a great beginner disc to learn how to throw with hyzer.

This disc should be in your bag.  This disc is great for letting go on a hyzer and letting flip to flat going completely straight. The great thing about DX plastic is that you can cycle discs and have a roc in your understable slot, stable slot and overstable slot.  If I have to grab one disc to play with, I am grabbing a roc.

I used to throw roc3s and found that they are just not as consistent as a regular roc in stability.  Also, the extra glide on the roc is definitely nice to have.

I can't talk enough about how imperative it is for me to bring a DX Roc every round. It all starts with the grip - the DX plastic is perfect for someone like me whose hands are constantly sweating. It's the perfect amount of grip for both hot and cold days and DX is the cheapest plastic, so cycling and replacing isn't expensive at all. Next, the flight - there's nothing quite like releasing a DX Roc on a slight hyzer and watching it turn up to flat. If you need an anhyzer finish, releasing it on a flat angle will get you it. I use the DX roc for shots between 200 and 350 ft that need a straight carry and predictable landing - the DX plastic is going to sit when it hits!
Do yourself a favor and start bagging a DX Roc if you aren't already.

There isn't much to say here other than this is a necessity. There isnt anyone who wouldnt benefit from having this disc in their bag. This disc goes straight for a long time, can handle plenty of power, and is a decent wind fighter. This disc even in base plastic takes a while to beat in, and throughout time continues to perform well for various types of shots from left moving, to right moving turnovers.

Another quick note, if you happen to get this disc in champion or star, it will fly much more stable and pretty close to the 4 4 0 3 which its listed at, but for the dx and kc pro molds this is a straight flyer with a moderate fade.

    Great disc!

I got it already beat in so my numbers are going to reflect that since I don't know what it was like before. I use this for all of my anhyzer mid shots and it does a great job at it! I don't like the feeling of it as much as my buzzz due to its shorter rim but I wouldn't call it uncomfortable. I don't see myself ever getting to a point where I don't have a beat of dx roc in my bag and would be on my 6 disc recommendation list for any new player.

My most grabbed after middy in the bag throughout the round. Stable and predictable if narrow. Control is on your side at all speeds even when sidearm throws are called for. One of my most versatile discs offering a wide array of shot options especially for more advanced players. I've heard the least negative feedback on the course from players that chose the midrange ROC. Improved my game where needed with more consistent 2nd shots that count big on the scorecard. Set yourself up with more makeable putts. Be a 1 putt chain ringer.

I know I am in the minority here, but I am not a fan of this disc. As a newer player, I felt like I had to at least try this one out due to how much is written about it. Mainly, I don't like how it feels. Feels too big in my hands and I don't like the bead. I had the most success with upshots, but I have other discs for that. I had one in both DX and kc-pro and really tried to make them work, but they just aren't for me. Perhaps I will come back to them again, but for now the Harp is covering my need for a sharp right turning disc.

Once beat in, a DX Roc flies almost exactly like a putter. Can hold great anhyzers and if thrown straight, flies straight with minimal fade. One of the all time great discs ever made. What makes a Roc so great is the number of uses it has no matter how much wear it gets. New Rocs have great stability and that forward fade. Rocs that start to lose that fresh stability fly extremely straight, and flippy Rocs are the best of all. They can hold long anhyzers and are hyzerflip machines. I tend to like DX most, but many like the KC Pro plastic as well. I don't have any experience with plastics beyond that. Great disc for beginners to pros.

This disc is beginner friendly. You can't mess up a throw with this disc. It's deadly accurate and flies straight at short distances. For more powerful throwers, max weight is the only way to go. It flies straight with slight hyzer finish when new. After a few months of use it will have enough turn to flip to flat when thrown hyzer with medium power, and hold straight with almost zero fade. When thrown flat with height it will leak slightly to the side and hold. Works great for sidearm in no wind or tail wind. I recommend buying several, and working fresh ones into the bag after the old ones are become beaten in. My flight rating reflects the fact a dx Roc will quickly beat in and gain some turn, and lose its fade

This disc is awesome!  The only setback I have is the bead...which may not be an issue at all to some people.  Once you get use to the bead though, this disc will be a very dependable companion in getting you to the basket.  It's extremely dependable fade is where it shines, and once it breaks in it can become a nice straight disc, and then it will become an anny holder.  This disc is a DX only disc in my opinion.  Get one and let the Roc fly!

If you are new to disc golf and an experienced player suggests this disc for you, don't get it.  It will be way too stable for you.  If you are experienced and have decent arm speed then you should have one or several of these in your bag.  The bead scared me off for years, but I finally decided to make myself throw these, and wow!  These are so sneaky long, and straight.  I used to think this was the most over-hyped disc on the market, but now I'm drinking the coolaid.  The dx is so great, as long as you cycle these, you will have rocs for your slightly overs stable, stable and understable mid shots.

Perhaps I got a dud.  The one I have is rather light, 150g.  With all the glowing reviews I was hoping for more.  Perhaps a heavier disc?

I got a 180g DX Roc from the store because it was cheap and I had heard that the Roc was great. I'm not a good backhand thrower, (I usually drive FH or Tomahawk) but if I need a short, straight shot with a mild fade at the end, I usually pull out the Roc for a quick Backhand. Put a nice flat top dc roc in the bag a couple months ago and fell in love with this disc! I perfer dx mids myself so between the dx roc 3 and dx roc they are perfect comparissons. This disc does not have as much glide as a roc 3 but the small rim makes it feel so good in the hand. Throw it flat let it ride straight and after awhile throw it on hyzer and let it flip up and go forever. A great disc for beginners to learn how to throw a disc and to keep there shots in the fairway. Advanced players will like the consistency of the roc!

This is one of those discs that you can make do just about anything. Depending on how beat in it is, you can get these to fly dead straight, to flip up and ride an anhyzer, or even throw big hyzer shots with them. They feel very good in the hand, and they glide really well. I personally prefer the Roc over the Buzzz (even though the Buzzz is still a solid midrange).

I will personally second all positive ratings of this disc.  It has been part of my bag since the beginning, the only disc that i have really had the feeling that it would never leave my bag.  The only way one of the two rocs will leave my bag is if I loose it or it gets too flippy and is replaced by another. The DX Roc was my first mid-range that I ever bought, and it completely changed the way I play. Before the Roc I didn't understand the need for mid-range discs, but after the first couple of throws with the Roc, I learned quickly.

The Roc simply flies where you throw it. It is perfect for getting you in range for an easy putt.

I own two other mid-range discs (Champion Mako3 and a Champion Panther) and while both are good discs and serve their purpose, I find myself reaching for the Roc for most of my mid-range throws.

I feel like the Roc has a little more glide and less fade than advertised.

I honestly don't know if there is a better mid-range disc. I LOVE my Roc, maybe even more than my Roc3. This disc will fly exactly where you aim it, and I have found it unmatched for throwing sidearm. A must-have for all players.

I'm assembling a 150 Class Bag, so I decided to try a few different plastics in the Roc mold. I'm a Buzzz guy, but they're very difficult to find in that low of a weight. Surprisingly, my favorite was the DX Rancho. It hyzer flips the most consistently, has great glide, and holds an ani line better than my Champion Rancho & Roc 3. If I was throwing heavier I'd go back to Discraft though. DX Rocs get chewed up quick and lose that sweet spot faster than bazooka joe bubblegum.

Have this in Dx plastic one of my first disk that were given to me and as it is worn in it gets better with age like wine. Still creates a good flight easy to hold onto with a fan grip and goes where i want it to with little fade near the end.

You will be told again and again that you need a Roc in your bag. Listen to that voice and do what it tells you to do. It's an incredibly versatile, reliable stable midrange that's great off the tee and on the fairways. In DX plastic, it beats in very nicely and gradually becomes more understable. As it responds very well to release angles, it's a great, controllable disc and a great tool to have at your disposal whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player.

For midrange this is a good disc to have. I personally prefer the Buzz but there's not a lot of difference in my book. You can't go wrong throwing a Roc.

I'm convinced that the Roc is only as popular as it is because it is an old disc that people got used too. The Roc was one of the first discs I owned when I got into the sport, but I lost the thing the first time I took it out. A year later I got a phone call from A guy who found it, so I picked it up and tossed it under the seat in my car where its sat for the last month or so. Well tonight I showed up for a round, but realized that I didn't have my bag, so I played Roc only. It did not go well. First off, I just don't like the feel of the Roc. It's rim is to shallow, and its hard for me to grab with a good power grip. Second this disc is in DX plastic. While many swear by the DX Roc and have several in there bags of different wear for different flight paths yadi yadi ya, I'd much rather get a premium plastic disc that is the stability you want right out of the box. Even though my Roc has only been used a few times, it has some massive gouges in it, and is already quite understable. There's no way it has a turn rating of 0 and a fade of 3 now. While teeing off on the ninth tee pad over the blind gulley, the roc turned over on me and sailed right' landing at the bottom of the gulley where I did not want to be.

In another plastic, I might not think the Roc is such a bad disc. But in DX plastic I have no desire to throw this thing again. As someone who has thrown dozens of mids from all the major manufacturers, as long as there are discs by MVP, Discraft and Prodigy, I will not recommend the Innova Roc.

I have the DX Roc and actually really enjoy throwing this at mid-range. I haven't tried the champion yet, but the DX flies very well and has a nice turn to it. Must have in your bag!

The Roc is the perfect mid range disc. Lots of glide, little to no fade, stops on impact and dead accurate. This is the disc that keeps giving. It has already given me a few of the best scores to date!
