I have this mold in two plastics, Luster Champ and DX. I picked it up for two reasons - one was it has one of the sickest stamps out there. Two was the flight numbers and profile. I'm a fan of beaded discs, and a flat, low profile, beaded putter with these flight numbers sounded like a great thrower to try.

In the hand it reminds me a bit of a Axiom Envy with a slightly bigger bead. Flat, feels nice. I could easily see someone using this as their putting putter if they like low profile beaded discs. Off the tee, I thought the Luster lacked the glide I'm typically looking for in a primary driving putter, rendering as more a of a straight approach disc (which it excels at). I actually prefer this mold in DX, I think it gains a bit of glide and distance, and is dead straight out of the box. Great torque resistance for a putter. Forehanders can make use of this one. However, it lacked the distance I get with other throwing putters, like the aforementioned Envy, my Lucid Judge, or Aviar Driver. Ultimately, while I had some good throws with it, it didn't make my bag, but I occasionally still take it out for a round from time to time. Solid approach putter or all around mold for those that want the same putter for putting and throwing. Comes in a variety of plastics too which is nice for mold minimization.

I know there are a lot of great approach putters, but I personally love this one. I won it as a door prize at a tournament and it immediately found a place in my bag. It's perfect for 175 foot up shots that need to fly straight. Very dependable straight flying disc that is for everyone. Now as a putter I can't be sure how it works as I don't use it for that purpose.

Hands down my favorite throwing putter just a touch more stable then the bullfrogs! Or just a thumbtrackless rhyno with more glide!!

This is very dependable for a fan grip 100 to 120 ft out. Throwing with slight anhyzer really makes it park nicely. This would be nice for those who like a Buzzz or a Roc.

I am aware that the DX is not usually the best plastic and it is a pretty cheap disc, but personally, I do not like the feel of this disc and prefer softer, beadless putters. Not a bad disc, but I think there are better options for putters.

I should preface this by noting that I am a beginner with a slow arm, so this review may be more relevant to beginners than experienced players.  The Innova Invader is a disc that I used most of last year for both putting and short approach shots.   I actually bought the Invader as a throwing disc, and then found that I also like it as putter because I like the feel of a smaller rim instead of bulkier, slower putters, so it did double duty for me.  For a throwing disk, it did just what I wanted: Easy to throw straight, with just a little fade at the end of the flight.  Because of my slow arm, I did not get much distance throwing it, but that’s OK for short approaches where I want it to slow down and settle softly without skipping a lot.  I like the Invader in soft DX plastic for that.

I keep an Invader in the bag for short approach shots, but I recently got some Infinite Cohort discs (a rimless disc that is faster and has more glide).  I find I like the Cohort more for putting because it feels more comfortable in my hand (a very subjective measure that everyone has to judge for themselves).  I also like that the Cohort is noticeably faster, slamming the chains harder.  Even though I don’t putt with the Invader anymore, I am still using it for short approach shots.  In summary, the Invader worked well for me, but I found another disc (Infinite Cohort) that I like a little better for putting with my slow arm.  So I like the Invader better as a throwing disc for short approach shots because it is straight-flying, easy to control, and has a reliable small fade at the end of its flight, even with my slow arm.

This review is for the Luster Champion and DX versions of this disc, both of which I have spent the last month throwing. I'm going to start off by saying I would highly recommend this disc as a throwing putter. I believe the flight numbers to be an accurate representation of my throws with this disc. The profile reminds me of the Innova Bullfrog but I prefer the feel of the Invader in my hand. As long as you account for the subtle fade this becomes a point and shoot disc. I have found myself reaching for my Invader on all of my throws in the 150-200 range. With the low profile of the disc, I find it comfortable for backhand or forehand. Just don't give it full power and the disc will do the work.

If you're looking for a disc that will work great in or just outside of circle 2, then look no further. In the luster champion, this disc is like a premium plastic link or Bullfrog, but in DX you get a nice driving putter and approach disc that will slowly work into a turnover machine. Effortless flicks can get this thing from edge of circle 2 to directly under the basket. It's reliability and dependability eventually helped it beat out the R-pro Dart in my bag for the coveted distance putt putter. A cool name and cooler stamp help too.

This disc was a pleasant surprise. When I first started playing, I was a huge fan of Aviars and like molds. As I have gotten better, I have started using a wider range of putters and multiples in my bag. My go-to upshot disc is my AviarX3. I use it for pretty much any short upshot, and drives under 200 feet. My only gripe with the AX3 is that it always fades hard. I plan for it, but always wanted a disc to do everything the AX3 does, but straight.

The Invader does exactly what I wanted. It's a low glide, low fade disc that can surprisingly take some power without turning over. The profile of the disc makes both backhands and forehands very easy to throw. The lack of glide makes the disc extremely accurate as it doesn't bounce through the air, as almost completely ignores wind. The disc goes as far as you can throw it, and no further, but that's exactly what you want for pinpoint accuracy.

The Invader is a perfect companion to my AviarX3 and can be relied on as a backup putter for putting and not just driving (my AX3 ever gets used as an actual putter). I have only played a few rounds with the disc, but it has already earned a spot in my bag.

Innova created a great disc with this one. If I need a 200 foot straight shot I'm going to lean on this thing. If I need to throw something straight and turnover late I'm going to this disc. If I'm 150 feet out and looking for a throw in Im digging the Invader out of the bag. I typically don't like throwing putters other than the Pig but I found this at Hazy Shade in Dayton Ohio and took a gamble on it cause I loved the way the luster plastic felt. It's definitely one of the best risks I've taken when it comes to Disc golf. 5/5!
