Today I played with this disc for the second time. I would not say it is beat in yet I out drove my previous longest drive by 50 feet. Mind you this was a tailwind and it wasn't slow, but I have thrown shots in a tailwind with my shrike with the same amount of umph and it didn't get close to this one.

The downside was that I put drive the hole by 50 feet. But since I've never been a member of the 450 club before I was pretty happy.

Since this is champion plastic and my second round with this disc and I think only my 5th or 6th throw with it I would rank the turn higher than the 3 printed on it.

As I said this was my first 450 throw, so I don't think my arm speed warrants the turn I got out of it in tailwind.

Deadalus is my US driver. I love it to death. feels so good in the hand both FH and BH. It flies true to its #'s. When you want to bomb one out there this is the disc you need. If you have a fast arm I'm guessing this will be too US.

I struggled to throw this disc for a little while when i first started playing but after some time with it I have grown to love it and now I have the power to do full turnover shots with it. I like it because i can turn it over and it will level out and glide down for a nice right turn. I don't have much of a forehand at all so this type a shot is a must for me.

This was my first distance driver to break 325'.  I have a pretty broken in champion and found this disc much easier to throw than some lower speed discs. Great disc with a low profile. I'm working on my forehand and feel this disc will help get some added distance. Don't let the 13 speed deter you, as the turn on this disc really helps with some hyzer to flip up and get longer drives.

    175 Champion Daedalus

This disc is very comfortable for both backhand and forehand. I can do everything with this disc. If you're struggling to break 300 - 400 feet, this disc will get you there. I only bag two distance drivers and this is one of them. This disc is very fun to learn rollers with also.

Being a beginner working on form, I am not quite able to reach the Daedalus's full potential. Thrown flat and hard, I rarely get the strong turn from it due to my current lack of power and it acts strongly overstable. However, releasing with the same power with a slight anhyser I can make this soar pretty good with a more developed turn and fade. Though I get only about 20-30ft further than my Valkyrie's straight flight, I often find myself reaching for my champion Daedalus because it is simply a fun disc. Can't wait for my form to hone in and my power to increase so I can really pull this hard down the fairway.

    Disc - 175 Champion Daedalus

Feel - The Daedalus is fairly shallow feeling and has a fairly wide rim. Its rim is similar to a destroyer or other 12-13 speed discs. It feels good for both backhand and forehand shots.

Flight - The Daedalus is an understable distance driver that flies similar to a very beaten in destroyer. It has a good amount of glide and turn and can get a great amount of distance if you throw it with a good amount of hyzer. It is definitely something that a lot of players could benefit from by throwing a disc that is a bit less stable than the destroyer.

Overall - A good disc that is a bit less stable than a destroyer that should get players more distance due to its great glide and easy turn.

This was my first ever disc, and I wasn't really sure how to use it when I first started playing. I got no turn on the disc, so it started out pretty stable. Now that my arm speed has increased, I have been having a tough time throwing this disc. It's great on open holes to rip it hard and see it's full flight but very unpredictable for me in tight spaces. I would recommend it to anyone who has a lot of touch or is just looking for a fun disc to try out.

My first distance driver was a dx beast and it worked well for awhile. From playing baseball, I found throwing forehand to be more natural and with how strong my arm is, I found that I often flipped over the 9-10spd discs. Champion Daedalus was the first high speed driver I picked up and man did it change my game. First time on the course with it I was hyzer-flipping it about 50-100 ft further than my previous drivers. It is understable and can be a bit touchy, especially in windy conditions, but when you execute a perfect throw, this thing can sail forever.

The Daedalus Fly-Dye 175g was my first distance driver I ever owned. I was a beginner and wanted something that would (hopefully) counteract my hard fade when throwing RHBH. After I bought it I switched to throwing RHFH almost immediately.(I had first learned how to throw a frisbee as a kid throwing FH.) I had always wanted to switch to FH but none of the discs I had felt right in my hand when I held it this way.  The disc is VERY flat with a wide and flat rim to it. And I almost immediately tripled my distance and no longer had the immediate fade that you have with not being able to generate power. So I basically learned how to play Disc Golf with the Daedalus as my Go-To distance driver. I had since lost it and stopped playing for a little over a year or so. I started playing again this year. And when I decided that I was going to get back into playing consistently I immediately went and bought another Fly-Dye Champion 175g and it's just like it used to be with my old one. A very strong and quick turn. And then a very smooth face at the end of the throw. It is ABSOLUTELY my go-to driver if I need accuracy, or a throw under a long tree canopy or if there are hazards I pull out the Daedalus because I know it will perform exactly as it should every time. The only time I use anything different is when fighting the wind or if I need to have a straighter line with a stronger fade at the end of the throw then I switch to my boss(same Fly-Dye plastic only 168 g). I've thrown a LOT of different types of drivers and in my honest opinion there is nothing out there better or more comfortable for someone that throws RHFH than the Daedalus Champion. The only thing I would have them do differently is to offer it in the Blizzard style.

Disc - 175 Innova Champion Daedalus

Feel - The Daedalus has a fairly wide rim and can be hard to grip for those with somewhat smaller hands. If it fits your hand, it is a good disc for both backhand and forehands. Champion plastic is extremely durable but does not provide the greatest grip.

Flight - The champion Daedalus is actually decently stable. It flies similarly to a Shryke in my opinion with a little bit less glide. It still goes very far but not quite as far as the shryke. I actually really enjoyed throwing this disc as it flew similarly to some beat in destroyers that I have and liked it for that slot but I just couldn't get rid of those destroyers.

Overall - The champion Daedalus is a great disc if you can't quite get a destroyer up to speed.

I have one in Champion and I like it, it's good. I dont love it and it's not great, but it's a good disc for sure. I use it on open fairways so it has room to flex. On field throw days its always right up there with the farthest throws as long as i don't turn it over, which happens sometimes. I don't think it's necessarily understable, but it definitely has big turn so it's kind of weird that way. Mines not beaten in enough for good hyzerflips so i always throw it flat still. In games I'll usually reach for my Champion Shryke or my Hades, but it's fun to throw and practice with. I can see its potential as a superb rolling disc once i beat it in and gain more arm speed. I lost the first one i bought because i assumed it would be a great anhyzer disc due to its rating but it faded on me pretty quick and passed away peacefully in the pond i was intending to get around. The one i have now is broken in enough for nice big anhyzers but I still tend to reach for other discs like Hades, Crank SS or Thrasher for big annys.

Overall, its a fun disc to throw, even if a bit inconsistent and more stable than you might think. I can see why people dig it and it sits quietly in my bag still but its not a main character for me.

I found that the Daedalus was a understable but maybe not as flippy right out of the box as rated based off of numbers. I am able to get this thing some high speed turn but I found if I didn't put it on a flat angle it would never really get the full flight out of it. I could get it to flip and hold straight for most of the flight with some consistent fade at the end. If I threw it on a hyzer angle the disc would flip to flat and not flip over which can be useful but I was expecting more turn on hyzer angles. I really enjoyed the feel and consistency I found with the Daedalus and was slightly surprised it was not as flippy. I think this disc can be a super useful high speed driver for people just getting the armspeed to throw 13 speed drivers. Do not try to use this until you are able to get some good torque on the disc because it will not fly how it is supposed to. A seasoned Daedalus could be a really workable and fun distance driver to throw in woods or on a lot of angles. This disc has potential to be a do it all type of distance driver. I just did not have enough time spent to really beat this disc in and test the flights then to know if this disc has some hidden gems to it. But my gut tells me you will not be disappointed in the versatility this disc will bring to your game. This disc was not super touchy and that is something I really enjoy in understable distance drivers, which can be hard to find. If you are a new player thinking this disc will magically give you distance you should not get it, but if you are starting to get some good distance out of slower speed discs you might want to check out the Daedalus.

I mostly drive RHFH and this is for an out of the box, max weight, camp plastic, so take what you will from this review. This disc is CRAZY understable, at least FH, for my arm speed. I have no problem hyzerflipping Roadrunners (same weight, same plastic) consistently for smashes but unless I put 2-3x the hyzer angle on this thing it would turn and burn into the ground for unintentional rollers. On the few occasions I did put a 50°+ hyzer on it and powered down to 60-65% power this disc would flip to flat and just go for a country mile!! Unbelievable distance and neverending glide.

However, my angle and power had to be just right or it was a short trip to throwler city. I maybe threw it 8-9x before pitching into the drink in a non perfect angle I guess. Backhand it wasn't terrible but still WAY more flippy than I would have ever imagined for a 13speed.

Maybe a brand new, zero power player, a small child or someone with absolutely stellar touch could benefit from this BH but this is by far and away the most understable and finicky driver I've come across

This disc really helped introduce me to the land of fast speed discs. Being pretty under stable after some use, this is the prefect driver for a slight tailwind or a full flex bomb. I threw this thing on a downhill 550 ft full flex. Would recommend for people who like to flip to flat.

Champion Daedalus (175g) - I really like the Daedalus mold, but I found the Champion plastic to negate some of the understability of the disc making it less useful for me. This version of the disc didn't make it into my bag after some field work. I also think it lost some of the glide.

Star Daedalus (166g & 175g) - I really like the Daedalus mold. I bought it when I was first looking for understable drivers and I found it to be exceptionally easy to throw, even as a new player with low arm-speed. At first it was pretty stable due to the speed of the disc vs. my arm, but it still glided better than anything else in my bag. Now I can flip it to flat and it will just keep on going. The heavier disc is still a little more stable, but in Star plastic they retain most of the characteristic no matter what. I didn't like the Champ version because it wasn't as glidey or understable. I would recommend if you're starting to try out drivers and want something to help you maximize your distance.

Feel: This disc feels very smooth. The flight plate is basically a perfectly uniform dome, that rises up gradually, so there is still a low profile. The rim is super wide, but also smooth, it doesn’t curve or bend either way like some discs do. This disc does get recommended to beginners because it is so flippy, however, many of the people I’ve let throw the Daedalus don’t like the wide rim.

Flight: Very, Very, very understable. One of the most flippy discs at max weight I’ve thrown in the speed 13 range. This disc has the potential for huge rollers, or huge anhyzer. This disc could be good for beginners with big hands, but as said above, even though it is understable, the rim is probably too wide.

Comparison: My max Daedalus is like a super light katana, like somewhere around 140g. Think faster roadrunner.

The disc that I had to test was a Blue 166G flat champion one.  Not sure if it was just the disc that I had or if they are all like this but mine was actually stable.  It didn't show any flight path similar to the one shown above.  Mine flew like a fast wraith.  This disc in the hand feels kinda shallow and the rim is slightly thicker than a destroyer but nothing that's unmanageable.  When thrown flat this disc would drift slightly to the right and then have a dumping fade at the end of the flight.  Thrown on a hyzerflip, it would flatten out and then dump to hard left.  It did hold an anhyzer for a decent amount of time before flattening out as it landed.  Overall this isn't a bad disc, just not something that was more me.

This disc has slightly less turn to it than the numbers indicate, at least in my experience. It is a widerimmed high speed driver. It handles BH and Fh a like, my only thing about it that I think that you get better distance and flight out of other discs in this class (MVP Octane for one). Not one of the top discs I have thrown but still a solid disc none the less.

At the time of this review I've been playing for 22 months. My best throws have been 90 to 100 meters. I'm 58 years old, 5' 8 1/2'' tall, 165 lbs. So certainly no Greek God athelete type. My Daedalus is 175 gr. in Champion plastic. Been throwing this disc for two days and have been consistently driving 10 - 15 meters further than I've ever thrown with my Wraiths or Destroyers. I've only thrown in calm (no wind) conditions. I'm quickly developing a real fondness for this disc. Very reliable and doesn't require the amount of room as say a Tern to get the job done. This one has a very predictable, moderate S flight. For me I'ld say early turn is a -1.5 and fade is about a 3. Seems very useable even for moderate power arms. Well worth checking it out!

    Update!

It's been 10 months since my last review. My original Daedalus was. ty-die and I absolutely loved it! After a number of months it is well broken in and too understable to be uesful any more. So I bought two more in Champion plastic, same weight. The new discs are far more stable than the original one. Wish I could find another ty- die in the same weight.

The Daedalus is exactly what it's supposed to be. A somewhat understable bomber with great glide. It's a little bit touchy in terms of finding the proper release angle to maximize flex. Too much arm and the disc flips. Too little and it stubbornly stays hyzer. Peg the Daedalus just right though and it's as long as any disc made. It's also not so understable that it can't handle a good rip without flipping. You might just need a touch of hyzer to keep it from flipping though. Thin profile, noticeably thinner than a Boss. IMO the Daedalus is simply a less stable Boss with better glide. Great for players with lesser arm speed who want to maximize what distance they have.
