    Signature Metal Flake C-Blend Details

Metal Flake C-Blend is the same durability and make up as C-Blend Plastic (comparable to Innova Champion), but Metal Flake has sparkle flakes inside the plastic. This makes the plastic not only durable and long-lasting, but also adds more cosmetic appeal with extra sparkle. Some players feel like Metal Flake adds just a touch more stability to the disc. The Signature edition features limited edition stamps to support pro players on tour.

Recently picked up a Metal Flake C-Blend Kon Tiki and had to add a second disc review.  This is the exact disc I was hoping for to fill my understable mid slot.  The MF C-Blend doesn't have the dome as the one I tried in I-Blend or G-Blend, which means it's very comfortable in a backhand grip.  I liked the flight of other Kon Tikis I've tried, but just never felt comfortable with the grip.  For reference my typical backhand driving distance is 350+ and a solid rip can sometimes get close to 400.  I do not forehand the Kon Tiki.

The flight of this disc is what is amazing.  Yes it's understable, but not uselessly flippy.  An easy throw (50% power) will have a strait line with maybe a little turn for those 200 foot shots.  Increasing the power will produce great hyzer flips that get effortless distance.  I don't try using this disc on shots over 250 feet and find throwing that kind of power just forces it over into a roller.  I reallly like throwing the Kon Tiki on an anhyzer line with enough height to slightly flex out before hitting the ground.  It's also a good option for short to mid rollers.  This disc just carves lines in the woods and provides the finesse I've been missing.

I highly recommend the MF C-Blend Kon Tiki.  It has a little something for everyone.  Beginners will like the ability to hit straight lines, while more advanced players will appreciate the usability in the woods.  I'm a huge fan of this disc!

I absolutely love the Kon Tiki for hyzer-flip touch shots & approaches and it's even good for longer putts. When throwing the Kon Tiki I give this disc no more than about 50%-60% power otherwise it turns completely over. When putting with this disc it holds a straight line from start to finish. I originally bought this disc because I heard that it's identical to Innova's Mirage putter which were getting hard to find. Innova also does not make the Mirage in champion style plastic like I always wish that they would have. Here enters the C-blend Kon Tiki. I haven't tried it in Infinite's other plastics but if it's anything like Innova's Star and DX plastics (D blend, I blend, G blend) it is probably less stable. This is a touchy disc but it's good for touchy situations and shots that you want to hit your line with minimal power. This is the easiest Hyzer-flip disc I own but it fits my style of play and won't be leaving my bag.

So this being understable means its great for beginners and slow arm speed, but I'm going to review this from a more advanced gameplay perspective.

This is a utility disc that is dependably understable with a bunch of glide. This means when you've got some crazy lie and you need a backhand to go 200+ feet you'll have a disc in your bag that will get there. This is a finesse upshot disc for me and it's perfect.

The rim is really shallow which makes it feel super good for the hybrid fan/power grip I use on it. It means I'm not using a power grip on this disc, but that's not the point. Short, effortless hyzer flips and turn overs are what I use it for and it went straight in the bag. I love throwing this thing at 50-65% and watching it go forever!

Firstly, one could be forgiven for suggesting this review is subject to bias given that it is my signature disc, however, with that said, I'm offering my authentic thoughts. The Kon Tiki in ALL of the premium plastics is a flip to flat easy glider that punches down tunnels all day long. In my discretion (and I've thrown multiples in all plastics), the Metal Flake C-Blend is not really any different stability wise, it flips to flat from a hyzer release pretty much identically to the I and G blends, the difference is that it has the slightly flatter flight plate with just a touch less dome than the other blends (a common characteristic of C-blend runs), in this regard, to me, it offers a slightly more comfortable feel as I like the feeling of a bit less dome.

The Kon Tiki is the most useful low speed under stable disc I have ever thrown, simply put. If you throw with 400+ feet of power, you won't be able to use this disc at full power, even at a 90 degree hyzer release, it will flip to flat and turn over too much, but thrown just slightly powered down, the Kon Tiki flips up from a hyzer release and floats down tunnels so smooth and offers exceptional usability for players of all levels, even pros, you just need to appreciate it's intended uses. I've had mine for only a few weeks and at my most recent tournament where all 36 holes were heavily wooded, I threw the Kon Tiki more than ANY other disc and it was crucial in my win, with just a couple weeks experience with it.

There are several delightful nuances to the feel and form of the Kon Tiki: It has the width of a typical putter instead of a mid range, even though it's classed as a mid, it's only as wide as a putter. At the same time, it's very shallow... the disc has a very low profile so it has nice penetration being thinner than any putter would ever be, even thinner than most any mid you'll ever see. Combined, these features make for an exceptional feel and ultra easy throw-ability.

Put the Kon Tiki out at 80% power on a hyzer release and watch it flip and glide forever, yes, but a lesser thought of use is also as a utility control roller disc. I have been rolling this disc down tight tunnels where I need a quick curl up finish and it's just miraculous.

Give it a try. If for some reason, you don't like it, you'll have a friend that will, that I can guarantee! ;)

First of all, I want to say that this disc IMMEDIATELY went into my bag after one throw. I have never thrown anything quite like it and it is pretty amazing. For what its worth, this is the first review I have ever felt the need to write here on Infinite.

This thing can shape lines like nothing else. Thrown backhand on a 45 degree hyzer with 70-80% power, the Kon Tiki flipped up to flat and glided right to about 225'. It will hold a huge anhyzer and glide right as long as you give it enough height. It truly is a hyzer flip machine right 'out of the box' and is going to be perfect for the tightly wooded courses here in the North East.

It can be used for forehand touch shots, with just a flick of the wrist it wants to glide on a straight line. Give it a little more power and it will flip up and glide left without fading back at the end. You have to have a lot of angle control and touch, otherwise it will 'turn and burn' but it will help you learn those types of skills.

Because of the understability it is a great disc to give a new disc golfer who has trouble keeping discs in the air and going straight. The Kon Tiki is also SUPER shallow in the hand with one of the smallest rims I have ever seen on a golf disc. It takes a little getting used to, especially when going from a Destroyer rim to this, but its worth it.

If you play wide open bomber courses this disc might not be for you (or super windy courses for that matter) but if you like carving lines through the woods and need something that is flippy but controllable, I would highly recommend the Metal Flake Kon Tiki.

Here's a review of both the metal flake c blend (Joseph Kulp sig.) and the I-blend Kon Tiki's...

    I-BLEND (RHBH):
    1. First off, the numbers are pretty accurate, which should tell you it's GOING TO FLIP. For beginners, this thing will teach you to control flip ups better than anything else I've thrown. For advanced players, this disc may not be your thing, if you throw with full power on every throw. I tend to prefer full throws with slower discs that have no glide.
    2. HOWEVER, I tilted this thing down vertically on the most hyzer possible, threw slow, smooth, and full and this thing covered 150' before it had flipped up to flat, then rode slowly to the right until landing. not sure if wide open windy courses are the play for this disc, but that dead straight 150'-200' with a slow curve to the right following is a shot that will scare any tree course.

Metal Flake C blend (Joseph Kulp sig edition) (RHFH):

    1. Not sure of the differences in mold shape between plastics, but the metal flake c blend felt a little thinner and flatter than the I blend. I prefer domey deeper discs for backhand, but the complete opposite for forehand (RHFH) which is my primary throwing style. So when I got this beautiful disc and held it, it immediately felt like a touchy forehanders dream disc. And it throws like one too.

    2. Obviously with the turn ratings, trying too hard with a forehand will turn this into a roller. But standstill wrist flicks on a hyzer has turned this disc into an effortless floater that can carve any path. It definitely takes great release angles and a ton of touch to get this disc right, but it's worth getting this disc right.

    3. I use utility disc for forehand throws, but "utility" has almost always meant meathook massively overstable discs (think the stego or Moab), but this has become a perfect behind-a-tree-need-to-forehand-200-laser-straight which overstable discs will never accomplish the same way.

overall: the Kon Tiki is an awesome find for the shots you gain with this thing, if your open minded. If you don't like discs that turn ALOT maybe skip this, but if you're willing to learn a new shot, you could find this disc GETS USED SO MUCH MORE than you thought it would, like myself...
