The Blaze is a very overstable fairway driver. Gateway actually classifies the Blaze as a “fast” midrange disc, but we feel this disc is a little fast for that classification. This disc is great for controlled drives requiring a hard fading finish. The Blaze works well for both forehand and backhand throws, and can handle headwinds.

Disappointed, was expecting a more overstable teebird or eagle-like flight. I got too much turn to call it an 0/3 but if you give it a slight hyzer to try making it fly like an 0/2 you just hyzer too early. Too flippy to fight wind or actually be overstable, but also too overstable to flip straight then hyzer out. Disc can't handle too much speed and it needs a little height or hyzer to not cut right early. Expected a terra-like flight but I just feel like I wasted my money. The disc is quite touchy finding the exact angle to not cut right early nor hyzer early. I either throw this flat and it drifts right on RHBH or I throw even just 1° hyzer and it drifts left the entire flight. Great disc to practice angle controls for field work but terrible performance and reliability. I never know if it's going straight, drifting right or hyzering left out of the hand. Absolutely unpredictable. Any more stable and I could trust it to hyzer, any less stable and I could trust it to flip. Just the exact wrong stability...

As far as physical characteristics go, this disc feels like a cross between a Banshee and a Teebird+, but... plussier. I like it, but others may dislike the height. The Evo Diamond Plastic is pretty nice, like the good runs of Opto/VIP/Lucid every run. The flex differs a small bit sometimes; my Blaze is pretty stiff.

As far as flight characteristics go, it's also a rather nice disc, but... where's the beef? This disc was stupid straight, which led me to like for reasons altogether different than I had imagined. It took some serious cranking to see actual turn (unlike say a Stag), but on flat shots, there was very little fade - maybe it ran out of elevation, but it seemed pretty glidey. It took about 15 feet of height for me to see even modest fade, and even then, it held straight until late. This disc is almost certainly going to stay in my bag for the foreseeable future.
