The Assassin is a controllable distance driver that offers a fairly neutral flight path combined with excellent glide, making it perfect for straight fairway drives or powering up for a long turnover drive. Its smooth, moderate dome and semi-wide wing make it comfortable in the hand. If you like the Sabre but want something easier to really wing out there, the Assassin is your disc. You will find it to be surprisingly stable even in lighter weights.

The Gateway Assassin is an amazing understable disc. It has an exceptionally long amount of glide when given a hyzer flip, and a great turnover disc if you throw it high and flat.

Personally I don't throw flippy discs, because they're just too understable for my arm speed, but I was surprised with how torque resistant this disc was for high turnover shots.

If you're a new player who wants a good long flying driver or just a guy who wants a new roller disc, you should definitely get one of these.

Used it as my roller disc for years. It doubled as my flippy fairway driver for big turnover lines or hyzer flips.

Picked up one of these used last year. Has a decent amount of dome and is definitely more overstable than the numbers, I'd say 9 5 0 2. Comfy for both forehand and backhand. Judging by the previous reviews on this disc, it appears you can get it in a wide range of stabilities depending on runs and/or plastics, so it sounds like it'd be a good choice if you want multiples of one mold.

The Assassin is a solid 9-speed driver with decent glide and a touch more stability than I was expecting. It earned a place in my bag for awhile, but now, I tend to get a bit more distance and reliably accurate placement with a Prodiscus Laseri or MVP Volt. The Assassin is not a bad option by any means, but if I was buying a disc for a friend to fill that all-important fairway driver spot in the bag, I'd have to go with the Laseri or Volt instead.

Flies true to the numbers, unlike a new Sidewinder, even at 176g. Might even have a -3 turn because I burned it pretty easy throwing near flat. Give it height, give it hyzer, easy game, easy game. Great feel, great color, what's not to like eh?

Got it as a birthday present from the parents. Was initially a good step up from the beginner discs and overtime has beat into a truly stable disc that I can throw down long tunnel shots. Just ordered a destroyer to keep an overstable disc in the bag, but plan on using the assassin whenever possible for controlled, long backhand drives. Love supporting the St. Louis community too

I bought an assassin in diamond plastic over the winter and am just now able to get out an throw. It seems way more overstable than the numbers indicate. Maybe that's normal with diamond plastic? This is my first Gateway disc so not sure, the other reviews I saw did not indicate that was an issue. Hopefully it will beat in but for now it's not flying like I had hoped, it just dumps left..

I'm an STL guy, so I wanted to support Gateway when i got into the game. Started driving with a hemp blend lightweight Assassin and fell in love. I can throw RHBH or RHFH and control it very nicely. It's a very stable disc and has a reliable fade at the end. I've since moved to a Diamond version and it's still my go-to driver. Gateway makes some good quality discs.

Very beginner friendly, maybe even kid friendly. It's a very straight flying disc with a little turn and fade. The assassin is very good for forehand and backhand. A decent release will go at least 200 with a weaker arm. This disc will be good for younger players to start with if they use the hemp plastic which has a very rubber feel to practice their grip before they move on to the evolution diamond plastic. Since the turn and fade feel like the same in the air, I'd say the turn and fade should even out to zero when added together which makes this even better for beginners learning backhand and forehand.

in my opinion this is Gateways best disc. it was my first driver very beginner friendly. had this disc for over a year. took it out when it started turning over on me on forehand shots. put it back for backhand shots. i can throw this flat a lil over 300 and it will go 200 straight and then turn to the right slowly for the next 100. with no fade. great disc.

    I think the flight numbers are not right.  I would say it's more 9 | 6 | -1 | 1.  Similar to a faster/longer FD.

Dead Straight with tons of Glide.  Dare I say it.............this disc MIGHT have as much glide as a River.

For me, it's the easiest to control Fairway Driver on the market.  Any time I see a tunnel or tight fairway, I reach for this disc knowing it will do great things.

The Assassin is a really nice fairway driver from Gateway. This thing flew more stable than I expected and then the flight numbers indicated. I would say the numbers were more like a 8, 5, 0, 2. It flew like a worn in Teebird. It was nice and straight with some trustee fade at the end. This was an easy to control disc and I could see this paring well with an overstable wind fighter to cover all your fairway needs.

The Evo Diamond plastic feels a lot like a more durable version of any other candy plastic: a touch slick, not awesome in the rain, but passable grip and reasonably stiff. If you want durability, it's a solid choice.

The Assassin is markedly more understable than Gateway describes it; numbers are more like 9/6/-2/1 or so. That said, you can get a stable flight out of it by snapping less and pulling more. It's a pretty nice roller disc for my arm, but also a plausible enough disc for a beginner to throw for distance. It also seems to forehand tolerably well in spite of the substantial but smooth and uniform dome, although in fairness I have a weak ~200' forehand.

Overall, this disc is a nice, durable solution for an understable control driver, and is very approachable.
