The Blackout is a control diver that sheds the heavy weight of oppressive governmental regimes in favor of the survivalist instincts of an apocalyptic future. It is also a straight-to-understable disc golf driver that can be manipulated onto any flight path to accurately place shots along the fairway. It is a favorite for controlled, hyzer-flip drives through narrow fairways that are lined by trees, or narrow streets that are lined by abandoned buildings on dystopian disc golf courses. Whether a seasoned disc golfer or a beginner, the Blackout will become a favorite in your bugout disc bag.

    Radioactive Waste Details

Radioactive Waste is a glow-in-the-dark premium plastic blend from Doomsday Discs. Not only does it glow well, but it feels great. However, you should limit your exposure to this radioactive blend, unless you want to risk gaining unexpected superpowers.

Picked this up as one of my first "big kid" discs to learn with. I've thrown this over 500 times, it taught me how to drive straight both back and forehand. I'm way more accurate with forehand I general, but you can put this disc wherever you'd like on the course without any BS.

The only reason I'm dropping .5 of a star is the glow strength. While the brightness of the glow while fully charge is acceptable, it looses it's charge in about 30 seconds. I'm not sure if I'd recommend picking it up specifically for a glow bag without adding a couple pieces of glow tape to help. Radioactive Waste has got to be one of my favorite feeling discs. It's gummy yet still decently firm. This has to be my most used disc in my bag, and I've full-power driven this thing into trees at point blank (not intentionally) a handful of times and there's not a single chip on it. The plastic is incredible, I just really wish it shared the same glow properties as their "Isolation Glow" discs; it would be (and honestly is) a 5/5

Ive thrown my blackout in the creek a handful of times and always get wet to retrieve it. I'll never be the same if I loose my Blackout, and am trying to mentally prepare for the day that I'm forced enviably forced to sacrifice it to the disc gods.

My brother received this disc as part of a glow mystery box. The plastic feels great, it flies nicely, and has some dome to it.

However, as has been noted by a previous reviewer, it stinks. If you're looking for a description of the smell, it is putrid, kind of like a mix of gasoline and burning plastic. Almost makes me think the plastic didn't get stirred all the way.

Despite it being a fairway driver, the glow is very mid.

As advertised, but with additional ol' factory stimulation.

I love this disc. It has become my go to fairway. It has some understability to where I can get it to stand up and fly straight on a harder drive, but not so much that I am getting it to turn over at all. It has intergrity on hyzer where you can trust it to stay on line. It is very comfortable in the hand and intuitive on what angles to throw it on. I have already purchased a backup because it plays a big part of my game.

I have this disc in both radioactive and toxic waste plastics. The toxic waste version is probably the closest to the numbers, while the radioactive waste is more overstable, like with most glow/non-glow plastics. At lower arm speeds (able to push fairways to 250-275) this disc will fly straight with moderate fade at the end. Once you get past that power range, this disc becomes an s-flight dream, turning then turning back to end up dead center or a little to the right. Also, the radioactive waste plastic stinks (literally), and the glow is sub-par. I would recommend toxic waste plastic for most people.

This is a great beginner friendly and intermediate player disc.  It is light weight, flippy, and great for hyzer flips or rolling.  If you throw it hard with hyzer or flat and high it will go far.  I was able to get my blackout about 400ft(+).

As I write this, I'm a 50+ year old beginner-moving-to-intermediate player with enough arm speed for max distance of 300 feet (90 meters).

My first disc from Doomsday, this was a pleasant surprise. The plastic (Radioactive) is grippy and after three months of being consistently in the bag, it is holding up well even though I mostly play heavily wooded courses and hit plenty of trees.

For me, high-speed turn is gentle and fade is late for flat-release backhand shots.  The turn is more noticable on forehand. This mold really shines in the woods when I need a disc to go straight for 80% of its flight and then fade gradually (versus dumping) on the end.  It will not fight out of an anyhyzer release if thrown at more than half speed. I suspect people with more arm speed would see more turn and even less fade, not good for flex lines and touchy for hyzer flips.

Much less stable then the Dismania Essence and the Mint Jackalope even though the numbers are similar.  Much less flippy than the Lat64 Diamond.  It reminds me most of/is closest in flight to the Lat64 Maul but as one would expect based on just the disc speed, slightly more stable than the Maul.  Another similar disc for me is the RPM Pekapeka which flips a little more than this mold.

This is probably not the best choice for brand-new players: wait to develop enough arm speed for 225 feet of maximum distance unless you're looking for an over stable disc.

I use and like this mold enough that it has a regular spot in my bag for wooded courses and I ordered a backup.  On more open courses where one can take advantage of flex lines and hyzers, this disc is less useful.  I don't know if these come in any color except off-white/gray which does make them difficult to find at times especially in leaves and pine straw.

Absolute gas,  this disc is it.  Slightly more stable than the numbers sugest in the radioactice.  it just goes straight forever,  reminds me of a slightly more stable essence.  I don't love all the doomsday molds but this one is money.

The Blackout is a sweet flippy fairway-ish driver that I've been using for more distance lately. It has just enough flip for my noodle arm to get real distance with it. It's an awesome disc for big anhyzer shots or just dead straight shots.

This disc works great with my forehand and it wants to fly far. The soft fade at the end is great for preventing skips or it tombstones into rocks.  My biggest grip is the disc had bad puddling/warped dome.  I feel it made the disc harder to generate consistent flights.

Pretty much the same numbers as the Essence and pretty much the same flight. Nice turnover disc or long straight flight. Cool plastic and good feel. Looking forward to trying other Doomsday discs.

I enjoyed throwing this disc stayed on the flight path I threw it on.
