    Pro-D Details

Pro-D is Discrafts affordable basic plastic blend. This isn't the most durable plastic, but it provides good grip and is very affordable. For old school disc golfers that like to "break in" thier discs for varying flight paths, Pro-D is an excellent choice. It is also one of the most popular blends for putters and is often referred to as "putter line" plastic.

I highly recommend this disc to young players who don't have much throwing power. This very straight flying driver is a go to disc for low straight fairways or tunnel shots. As players get better, they will probably reject this disc for a Krait or other such drivers for the same accuracy and more distance. But it is a great disc to learn on in anything except Pro-D plastic.

I did not enjoy throwing this disc at all, it didn't feel comfortable in the hand it was really sensitive to the amount of power you put on it. It will turn and burn on you if you do not find the perfect ratio between power and starting hyzer angle.

Just not a great experience for me.

This is a really good driver for someone just starting out, the grip is a little funky and it has a very very low PLH even though the flight is fairly stable.

They are a bit domey for my liking but it's not super rough.

The flight will turn a bit and fade a bit, but is really a very nice straight disc that a lot of players could do well with.

The Pro-D XL is one of the first discs I used when I started playing disc golf. I wanted someting that was inexpensive, since I wasn't sure if I'd keep playing, and I wanted something that had a "0" on the stability rating. If you're just starting out, you don't really want to buy discs with high overstability or understability because you'll want to get a feel for how your throw effects the disc flight. I used it as a go-to disc any time I wanted to throw in a straight line, and it really helped me to get a feel for the game.

Needless to say, I became addicted to disc golf, and now (many discs later), I don't have a need for a Pro-D XL because I have other discs that have more distance for my straight shots, and for the shorter precision shots, I stick to mid-range discs. I still use an Elite Z XL as part of my regular arsenal when I need a controlled drive with a "straight as an arrow" approach and a ligh fade at the end. That heavier, Elite Z plastic still works wonders for me, but I had to retire the Pro-D as an old, beginner's favorite.

We found an old beat in XL in Pro plastic at one of the local courses, with no contact info on it... So my 12yr daughter bagged this, and she just loves it! She's been playing about 15 months and pulls this disc often for her drives. It flys controlably understable making a beautiful S pattern. Is not bad in a moderate breeze either. The only disc that flys further for my daughter is perhaps her Diamopnd. I don't have a strong arm, but stronger than my daughter, yet this disc has never turned over on me. Seems to be a totaly solid disc with great glide, decent grip and reliable performance.

XL is a good first driver. As the player progresses it becomes an excellent turnover or roller disc. Highly recommended; it was my first driver. Pro-D plastic is those starting out, it is more under stable and will beat in quickly. X plastic has great glide and beats in at a reasonable pace, Z plastic is the most stable and durable (rollers!).

This is a really underrated disc. The pro D is a great under stable beginner driver, fast enough to rip, but not too fast to control. The other plastics all get more stable, so as you develop more snap and arm speed there is a plastic to keep up with you, that you can control and has the same feel. I use this disc on any tight fairway, or extremely long upshot where accuracy is essential.
