Love this as my first putter ever.  Very soft and feels so light in your hands.  Great for inside 20 ft.  Have been so comfortable with it I have started using it on certain longer upshots.  This may be my one and only putter!

    Plastic: X Soft

    Weight: 174g

Feel: The X Soft plastic feels more like rubber than plastic, it has a lot of give and is very very soft to the touch.  The Challenger is an averagely deep putter, that has no bead at all.  Some love a good bead, others can't stand them, but probably even more, don't mind either way.  The mostly round edge, along with the soft plastic, means this disc will fit firmly and comfortably in your grasp.

Flight: The challenger is an overstable putt & approach, but importantly one without a bead.  When thrown with power, this disc will flip up slightly, so it's best to throw with some hyzer to keep it straight.  Mine is fairly beat-in, so a brand new one, in a more premium plastic may be able to handle more power without turning at all.  That said, this disc will ride straight with controllable glide, and have surprisingly soft fade at the end.  The Challenger certainly doesn't dump left, or crash right, and with this soft plastic, this disc just wants to go where you want it and settle down quickly.

Conclusion: I would highly recommend this as a controllable approach disc, especially for those that prefer beadless discs, but still want some stability.  It could also be a putting putter for, again, those who prefer beadless putters.

Sidenote: Being a beadless putter, this could also function as a short-range sidearm disc as it is stable and not massively deep.

Solid putter! It has a great feel if you dislike the Aviar family of putters. I like the X soft for being sure gripped and sticky on the chains. Have had no slippery disc issues on putts with this.

This disc flies quite a bit like a Wizard by Gateway without a big bead. Great putter with a flat top and medium depth. Easy in the hand. Lacks much circle putting glide.  I find it a bit short for my throwing style as I am very used to throwing a wizard. I end up a couple inches short on nearly every putt. This tells me this disc is actually great and works fine. The Archer not the arrow as it were. Sadly, I prefer the feel of this over my Banger GT and wizards, Yet I get better scores with the others. I am learning the flight line and trying hard to get it locked in. Feels like a Vibram summit in the hand and almost throws like a wizard. I may try the Challenger SS for a bit more glide and the same comfortable feel. Not sure of this review is a review or just personal notes, but I have no qualms with this disc and champion it to you, reader, to try a classic putter out!

I only started using an X Soft Challenger when I realized the night before I was going to a Frozen Finger event that there was snow on the ground and my normal approach disc (Pro-D Focus) was white.  I pulled out the Challenger that I had just gotten and ended up using it the rest of the winter because of the continued snow on the ground.

Overall, it was great for me as an approach disc.  The added stability helped with headwinds and the feel was similar to the Focus, just with a smaller bead.  It's not as useful for me on anhyzer shots approach shots.  I still prefer my Focus for that.  However, I now bag both.  My first choice for the approach shots is still my Focus, because I feel it fits my throws better and I'm more flexible using it, but I won't hesitate to pull out the Challenger if I feel I need it for my shot.

Love it. Soft, comfortable, reliable. My favorite putter that took me some time to discover. For the comparisson shopper, I have also used: Lat 64 Soft Spike, 11x champ aviar, various other aviars, innova xt colt, discraft soft magnet. This is by far the one I am most confident in. My only complaint is that the X-Soft plastic is not durable, and by not durable, I mean it gets destroyed very quickly.

Worth Noting: Putting is about comfort, feel, and confidence. Find a putter that feels comfortable in your hand and that you can repeat the release of on a consistent basis. Without this, you won't putt well regardless of the putter. This one just so happens to be mine. I don't ever throw this putter as an approach disc. It is strictly for *actual* putts.
