The Challenger OS is a more overstable, flat-topped version of the popular Challenger. This putter works best for driving, throwing into headwinds, weaving forehand approaches, and tossing hyzer putts. It is overstable enough to meet the majority of a player's needs without feeling like a meat hook.

    Pro-D Details

Pro-D is Discrafts affordable basic plastic blend. This isn't the most durable plastic, but it provides good grip and is very affordable. For old school disc golfers that like to "break in" thier discs for varying flight paths, Pro-D is an excellent choice. It is also one of the most popular blends for putters and is often referred to as "putter line" plastic.

While this was a great throwing putter, I have just substituted Envy's in instead. For me personally this disc did not feel right in the hand. It was always reliable to be able to throw and trust to get there, but it didn't give me 100% confidence while using it.

The new Discraft Challenger OS is a great addition to the Discraft Putter lineup. I really enjoyed testing out the Challenger SS, but I feel like the Challenger OS fits more of my personal throwing style more. I tend to throw more overstable putters, and though the Challenger OS didn't replace anything I already had in my bag, I think you could make me replace that slot in my bag and I would not skip a beat. I thought it flew on approach shots very similar to my PA1 discs, and if you told me I could only throw Discraft Discs, The Challenger OS would most likely be my choice for my putting putter. I like beaded putters, and though the Challenger OS is beaded, I like beads that are a little bigger than the bead on the Challenger OS.

Also Discraft really does make some fantastic plastic blends. Even just the base line Pro D plastic felt great in my hand both for approaching and putting. And I think Jawbreaker discs are some of the best looking ones on the market!

As for the actual flight, though the Challenger OS stands for OverStable, this disc is not in the same class as the Zone or the Harp. I already mentioned the Prodigy PA1, but also the Dagger and Wizard would be other fair comparisons I would say. So if a slightly overstable putter sounds like it would do the trick for your bag, give the Challenger OS a try!

The Challenger OS is a solid all around putt and approach disc. I really liked it for short drives and approach shots, and it's a solid putting putter too. With the "OS" in the title, I figured it would be too overstable for me for long putts, but it really wasn't, I didn't have any issues with the disc fading too hard when putting from circles edge.  While this putter is not going to flip over for me with a drive, it's not like a Zone, Harp, or Ringer in terms of overstability.

This disc is fairly tall and has a mostly flat top with a not too prominent bevel curve on the edge of the rim. The rim is deep enough that I like it for putting, but not so deep that I struggle to release it for full power throws. Unlike the Challenger SS, the OS has a small bead that I thought felt very comfortable for putting. I'd say the bead size is pretty comparable to the original Challenger and is not very intrusive. I didn't notice the bead at all for driving. All in all, this is a very comfortable putter that I am very confident using.
