This to me is very similar to a innova thunderbird. This didn't make my bag as I could get better results with the thunderbird. This disc did feel good in the hands but when I would throw it it wouldn't go much further than my thundy would go and the thundy stayed straighter for me. This isn't a bad disc it just didn't fit what I wanted and I already had something in the slot that this would've been going into. I would say it has more of a 4 glide and 2.5-2.75 fade at the end. It wasn't a meathook but wasn't a forward penetrating fade either. Didn't work for me, but I have heard others who rave about this disc.

The Elite Z Avenger is a consistent control driver from Discraft. The Avenger is very comfortable in hand, as it it still a smaller rimmed driver, but it is capable of getting some wide rimmed driver distance. This disc had a very straight flight with a strong, dependable forward fade at the end. I would compare the flight to Discmania PD. The Avenger has some nice glide to push it out that extra distance, while still being pretty resistant to the wind. All in all, this is a great disc for those looking for a control driver.

I've bagged 2 Avengers over the past couple of seasons and it hasn't been the most reliable disc in my opinion. I generally enjoyed the overall stability of the Avenger in calm conditions, but I couldn't trust it as much as my Thunderbirds and Starfires in the wind. I think this is a great disc for someone looking to try a similar disc by Discraft, but their newer mold the Vulture really hits it out of the park. If you are torn between this Avenger and the Vulture I highly recommend the Vulture instead. The Avenger has a good feel in the hand, not too deep, and not to large a rim. I could throw some great backhand shots that carry straight for ~320ft before working back left. I just never use it in much of a headwind. I don't think it's as overstable as the numbers would suggest.

Sad to see Discraft discontinue this disc. My comparable would be an Innova Thunderbird or Lat 64 Culverin. Good headwind disc for moderate power, not too wide of a rim, useable for players with more power. this is the classic disc that had use for many levels. I suppose the Undertaker is the heir apparent, also a fine disc. Good night sweet prince

    OG Control Driver

While I have thrown the Avenger a few times before, I've been really throwing it a lot as I film a review video for the Latitude 64 Culverin. The Avenger has actually been around for many years, and though it is still called a "distance driver" by Discraft, it was truly one of the first control drivers on the market. The PD from Discmania has sort of become the "go-to" overstable control driver, but the Avenger was first.

Out of the hand, thrown flat, you'll notice the Avenger has a very good resistence to turn. it can take a lot of power and is also fairly forgiving of small mistakes in your throw. The Z Avenger has the most stability all around and has a harsher fade than any other blend of Avenger. It holds high hyzers very well, and is a great disc for forehands. Oddly, it doesn't handle overhand throws that well.

I don't care for the rim feel (I prefer the PD, which uses a Firebird rim) but I know more than a few people who do like the way the Avenger sits in the hand. It's a fantastic control driver and, honestly, is as high speed as most players would ever need.

First ever review for Infinate Discs.. Hope you find this helpful. First off, I LOVE this disc.

    My Stats:
    - Intermediate to Advanced Player
    - I consistently throw around 350ft.
    - Primary RHBH thrower

I throw as close to a 175g as possible. I own 2 Avengers, one Z and one ESP. I really love this disc. I recorded a 280-300ft ace with it that earned me $80. It's a staple in my bag

When I first started throwing the Avenger (RHBH), I found the disc to be a little overstable for me, but I hadn't been playing too long. I still threw it a lot and really enjoyed it. Everyone wants to always compare discs flight characteristics, but I find it hard to compare it to another discs as we all throw differently. From my experience, it doesn't have as much high speed turn as much as my 175g Champion Teebird (when I throw mine flat, it turns), but will fade at the end of it's flight similar. If I had to compare it to another discs, I would say an Orc. The Avenger always had a priority in my bag, but once this disc got beat it, it was a staple in my bag for all woods shots. For me, I always threw this disc RHBH. If I tried to forehand this discs, it would turn over. I also used this discs for thumber shots around 200ft.

Again, with any discs, let it beat in. I kept throwing it for months, knocked it around on some trees, and it became my woods driver that I wasn't afriad to smash a tree with it. It took over a year, but this discs became a very, very straight driver for me. Once it was nice and beat in, when throwing 250+ I would release on a small hyzer and let it flip up and just fly straight. If I released flat, I could produce a beautiful S-curve that I loved watching. I could put release on an anhyzer and it would hold almost the entire way.

Again, the Avenger wasn't my max distance driver, but more of a super reliable control driver. It was very versatile for me and a staple in my bag. I lost my beauty in a pond and it devistated me. I recently got a new Z plastic with a Huk Lab dye. It's absolutely beautiful, but going through the process of beating it in to become the consistent flight I always counted on this disc to produce.

I received this disc in a "starter bundle" I received when first starting to play the game. Unfortunately, I never got the hang of it. I would definitely call this disc overstable, and not beginner-friendly, but if you need some hefty fade this should work great for you. If you have a more developed arm, I bet this is a dang good disc for you. If you need to throw in a headwind, I'm sure this disc would straighten out and fly very well in it. Unfortunately, I'm not at that level yet, and for some reason the rim just doesn't feel good in my hands, so it's been shelved for the time being. Maybe I'll revisit it down the line, but currently it's been benched. I rated this more based on it's potential (or at least what I think it's potential could be) and less on how it works for me. Take it for what it's worth.

The avenger is a great disc. I have an elite z and it is my go to disc. Very controllable with a predictable fade

Thoughts of a RHBH finesse-thrower, max distance around 350ft:

I don't use this disc in my bag, but it's a nice disc.  It reminds me of the Innova Starfire a lot.  It would be good for fairway drives on a moderately windy day.  It stays pretty stiff in a headwind, but I wouldn't send it on a max distance crank directly into a 20mph headwind, because it might not come back to the left for a while.

I found a beat in (but not beat up)elite z avenger in the woods at a local course with no ink so i gave it a few throws expecting it to be very overstable and i was very surprised that it was very straight, real straight, arrow straight for about 270 feet then just a couple of feet of high speed turn (right)then glided to a very slight low speed turn...not at all like the flight chart, after several more throws this flight was repeated over and over, well now it earned a spot in the bag right between my star destroyer and the vibram lace and i expect it will be there for a while....I bet someone is really missing this awesome disc.

I recently bought this disc (esp 167 gm) for dog leg left shots under 350 ft. It has a great amount of fade which I really need for some holes. I haven't tested it on the wooded holes or low profile shots. I hope it will be a good skipper as well. Infinitediscs.com give it a glide rating of 5; however, I think the glide rating for this disc should be 4, well obviously for me. Unlike this disc, Avenger SS has a tremendous glide ( I would say 5) and gives me a good turnover shots in the woods or open field.

Nice one Sean well said! I've found the Z plastic to start more stable and wear much slower than the ESP. Easy to promote to "go-to" status.
