The MD5 is overstable. No wind or shaky release will change that. If you are looking for a dependable, no questions asked, goes where you tell it to go midrange with an awesome feel, look no further.

NOTE: The Innova made and Discmania made MD5's are VASTLY different in hand feel. The Innova made ones felt similar to a Gator, with a large, chunky rim and a bead. The Discmania made ones feel much more like a modern midrange. The shape of the rim is comparable to a 5 speed Zone. Please specify which one you are talking about in the reviews.

    For reference, the specifications for the Innova-made MD5 are D: 21.1; H: 1.9; W: 1.4; D: 1.3.

I just got one of these and expected it to fly like my Zone. While it does fly like it I think it is slightly less over stable then what many would think for the flight rating. Saying that it is still very dependable and overstable, if you throw other very overstable mids this may just go a little but further. On a forehand this is a great disc that can hold up against a lot of torque and can be used for flex lines or to get around a corner quickly. The C-line plastic is also very dependable and does not beat in very quick. Last note is that this disc does have a bead which I actually liked as a putt with a bead and felt I had control.

I just bagged this from one of Discmania's mystery boxes.  It is definitely overstable, but it feels a little less stable than my Justice.  I can throw this further (200 feet) and it does not hook as hard, but it hooks up for sure.  I am going to experiment using it as a forehand disc and try to flip it in some tough spots.

Feel: The C-line plastic is firm and slick. The rim is shallow, beaded and pretty squared off. Overall its a pretty comfortable disc forhand and backhand.

Flight: You could get away with calling a speed 4 or 5. It does have a bit more glide than I expected but its still not glidey by any means. No high speed turn and a strong fade.

Uses: Consistent in the wind, great on the approach and always comes out of any angle to finish on hyzer meaning it can shape all kinds of shots for difficult situations.

Conclusion: This disc is comfortable and performs as it should. Recommended for anybody that has the fundamentals down.

175g Colour Glow C Line EO 2019 edition. I love this disc. Yes it is overstable but workable. Pretty round rim comfortable for both forehand and backhand. Not a ton of glide, more of a disc that you throw for distance rather then let the disc do the work.

I bought this disc just a month ago and I fell in love with it since day one. Very comfortable in the hand, predictable, perfect for sidearm shots and handles power well. If I could change anything, I would make it skip a little less, but overall a 5-star disc.

Very dependable and predictable fade and skip with this approach/midrange disc. It is very comfortable for backhand and forehand approach shots, can handle some torque and handles head wind shots with ease. You have to like the comfort of the bead in order to like this disc. The firebird of midranges.

Great forehand approach disc. I drive off the tee with this disc constantly. Reliable and much more comfortable to the gator. Got my first skip ace with this disc.

The MD5 might look like a Gator, but the discs do have quite a few differences. The MD5 actually has a noticeably wider rim, giving it more distance. The disc also has a surprising amount of glide, which for me is not what I would want from a disc like this. Overstable midranges should be designed for utility and reliability. The extra glide the MD5 has and the extra speed just aren't quite as ideal compared to other similar molds. Still, the MD5 is a good option for that slot, especially if you find a more overstable run.

It’s a beaded Caiman, or a Gator. Smaller diameter and very dumpy, but controllable and predictable in any weather conditions. Similar to a slow Firebird.

    Great Beefy Mid

The MD5 is a super overstable midrange.I like my MD4 but wanted something more overstable that finishes with a big skip.I have a ROCx3 ,MD4, and two MVP Deflectors for my overstable mids. The MD5 is considerably more overstable than the ROCx3 and MD4.It is similar to the deflector in stability but has a stronger finish and better skip.I bag the MD5 and the Deflectors.I find the deflector sits better and the MD5 just works better for trick type shots.Great utility disc as well. Also for comparison it is more overstable than my lattitude 64 xxx .

This disc is exactly what I was hoping for. It is more straight to fade than a Gator and not as "clunky" feeling either. Awesome disc for approach shots or short flex lines. The MD5 is probably one of the most comfortable discs I have ever thrown FH. True to the numbers in my opinion. This disc is a great wind fighter and you'll be able to find a lot f use for it whether it be off the tee, up shots or purely utility do yourself a favor and grab one.

The Metal Flake C-line MD5 that I've thrown has a very similar profile to my Glow C-line Gator. However, it way gummier which feels better in the hand, both for forehand and backhand shots.

It is not quite as over stable as my gator, and it does glide a bit further. It simply suits my game a bit more.

    In short:

It's an really over stable midrange that still has some glide, so it doesn't feel like your throwing a stone. It feels great in the hand, even though I'm not really a big fan of beads. Can recommend for someone that wants a reliable over stable mid range with some glide to and a heavy fade.

The MD5 is billed as the overstable meathook midrange in Discmania's lineup. it has a very similar feel to a Gator in hand, as it is smaller in diameter. It is not as overstable as a Gator though. It does fight the wind well, but I wouldn't call it a meathook. This disc worked great for flexshots that need a bit more distance than a Gator, but it is not quite the utility disc I was expecting. If all you throw is Discmania, this is a great addition, but I think there are better options for this slot from other companies.

The MD5 is another in the large selection of small diameter, overstable mid-range discs that came out this year, and it is another strong entry. It has a flight quite similar to a Caiman but with not quite as much distance (at least when I tested it in a round of 9 holes). But I got extremely accurate results whenever I had a shot where I could drop toward the basket from the side. Rather than a smooth, drawn-out fade, the MD5 had the tendency to drop its edge and fall steeply out of the sky once velocity is lost. That helped me to drop the disc right on target in most cases without overshooting. It was a lot of fun to throw. I find myself enjoying the smaller diameter on approach discs like this-- a disc type similar to Caiman, Gator, Mortar, Justice, and the likes.

I would not recommend this disc for beginners, since they will struggle to get meaningful distance and may become frustrated with the early fade. Though I do recommend a great mid-range disc for beginners, it is better to get them a straight-to-understable disc with a lot of glide, and that is not what the MD5 is designed to do. But for experienced players, this is an excellent tool in the bag!

It is a Discmania Gator but the MD5 just feels a little bit better in the hand.  Smoother and almost sleeker lol.  Parks nicely as they said it would!

In the hand the MD5 will feel very familiar.  It feels almost identical to a gator.  The two that I received was from the color glow run with the European Open stamp on them.  My discs have a slight dome to them.  Almost flat but not board flat like the Scott Withers Gators.  The MD5 has a nice low profile which makes the grip for backhand very comfortable.  The bead on the bottom of the disc is rather large, again similar to a gator, so forehands were slightly uncomfortable.  I typically throw a mortar for my overstable midrange shot and the MD5 is more overstable than the mortar.  I compared it to a metal flake gator, a Scott Withers gator, a luster recon mortar, a glow recon mortar and a frontline mortar.  The MD5 flew the closest to the Scott Withers gator and the glow recon mortar but with a bit more aggressive fade at the end of the flight. Overall this a great addition to the Discmania midrange line up.  I've got one of these in my collector bin and one in the throwing rotation.
