The FD2 is out of production, and based on the flight of the FD1, which now fills that Teebird spot, a new run of FD2 will most likely be a different disc entirely.

The FD2 is a stable-flying fairway driver with TeeBird like flight ratings. Discmania gives their second fairway driver this description: “The FD2 is a reliable speed 7 workhorse fairway driver for all skill levels. It’s not too glidey to avoid you from sailing off-target and it has a low-speed fade you can depend on. Packed with a nice amount of high speed stability, this disc gives you nice straight lines when thrown flat and hard. The more power you put behind this disc, the straighter lines you will see it perform. When thrown more gently, the fade will kick in earlier in flight, making cutting corners easier.”

The Royal Rage 1 is an elite disc. Everything just came together perfect. They're the 3rd tooling of the FD3 mold. So, when you see people touting the 3Tool/3rd tooling FD2's its this mold. The reason they love them is because they're OS (not insanely OS) and fly straight for a really long time with a dependable finish. The Royal Rage 1 FD2 is in Innova's Color Glow (often seen as CG) plastic, which in my very anecdotal experience offers more glide (same with the Discmaniac FD3s, Barela TB3's, NS1-3, DD3 etc). Infinite offers many of their molds in this CG plastic, my most recommended being the Tomb (possibly my all time favorite disc when in CG), Alpaca, Exodus, and Scepter.

The 3 Tool FD2 is probably as close as you will get to the coveted 2nd Run FD (Innova made). If you can find these FD2s for under 40, pick them up. Your fairway game will thank me. If you can find a Royal Rage 1 for under 60 get it. They're incredible, and you'll know why they're so sought after once you start throwing them. I own 3, I in the bag and two backups, as well as 2 C-line plastic 3 tool FD2s. They just offer super easy straight line distance without turning over and getting off your line.

Discs that fly similar are the 2nd Run FD (well over $100 for one) and various runs of Innova Eagles.

    171g Leo Piironen Glow C-Line FD2

I got this disc as a replacement for an 172g S-Line FD that I had lost. The FD was a bit more overstable than I wanted for the slot I was trying to fill (dead straight fairway as the numbers suggest), and when I went looking for a replacement FD only high weights were left, so I turned to other options and the signature FD2 was it. The reviews were great and I liked the flight numbers. This disc is very comfortable forehand and backhand which I love because I used the FD in the same multipurpose way. The Glow C-Line plastic is super comfortable, not too stiff and not too soft- it really surprised me how much I liked it (I throw mostly ESP and Innova Champion plastic for reference). The plastic is also highly visible which I love since I play in the woods and discs can get buried under the leaves pretty easily. This disc is very true to it's flight numbers out of the box, however I think after some time hitting trees it might beat in to a more dead straight flyer with just a little fade at the end which is what I want. Great disc, definitely recommend.

This is a review on the First Run Leo Piironen Color Glow Royal Rage.

This disc replaced a lost MF Teebird, and I'm honestly glad I lost that Teebird. I was initially worried about that 4 glide, but this disc feels like 5 glide. This disc flies stable, but with a forward penetrating fade. It almost reminded me of a brand new DX Roc, but with fairway distance. I use this disc for 280-320 foot straight or hyzer holes. For me, it covers the Teebird, and Thunderbird shots.

As for feel, the disc fits perfectly in the hand. Nice flat top, and a stiff yet grippy plastic. I always feel confident when I pull this disc out, even in a headwind.
Make sure you buy a few of these, as it will be a staple in your bag. 5/5 Stars.

After throwing the C-line FD2 as my main FH driver for 2 years, it was only natural to try this out.  It's better than I could've imagined.  The rim is nice and smooth, so my release is even better than with the original FD2, plus it has a tick more glide.  It will hold whatever FH angle I put on it until the fade kicks in at the end of the flight.

For my backhand, it's pretty beefy out of the box since I don't have the fastest arm speed, but it is actually helping me with my backhand form.  When thrown flat with good speed, it should be laser straight with a hard dump at the end.  It reacts accordingly if I screw it up.  I've also enjoyed throwing it on anhyzer for a nice S line.  Again, the rim feels amazing in my hand for backhand shots too.  I should also mention that the color glow c-line plastic is perfectly tacky.  It seems like it's even more durable than standard c-line.

This is a great disc. I used to throw a Star TL3 and this has kicked that disc right out of my bag. It's stable enough that I can throw it into all but hurricane force headwinds and trust that it will not flip. It's also slow enough that I can get great distance in tailwinds while still minimizing chance of a dumping fade.

If you want a disc that is comfortable in most any hand; a disc that you can trust; a disc that will hold straight for a long time; a disc that has a dependable mild forward fade....This is your disc.

....Did I forget to mention that it's awesome looking?

This is the perfect addition to the Discmania lineup. This disc fits perfectly in between the FD and the FD3 in the Discmania fairway diver lineup. For a player with decent arm speed, the FD2 flies dead straight and has a reliable finish, but it glides further and has less fade than the FD3.

The Leo Piironen FD2 in color glow plastic feels great in the hand. The color glow plastic is pretty stiff, but gummy enough to get a great grip on it. This run is super flat and feels great for forehands as well as backhands. The torque-resistance and straight flight of this run makes it a great forehand driver.

For those looking for a comparison, the first that comes to mind is a Teebird3, but just a bit slower.

I love my FDs, and this is a perfect compliment. For me, I don't see them coming out of my bag any time soon. An instant staple. While it's not exactly a 2nd run FD, it will probably be the closest Discmania ever gets to recapturing the magic of that legendary run.

These new Royal Rage FD2s are amazing. I wasn't a fan of the FD2 before. I always felt that they lacked glide. I was skeptical when I first heard about these but I figured I would give them a chance. I tested these new FD2s alongside my 11x KC Pro teebird, an old penned run AJ Star teebird and a recent embossed run AJ Star teebird. Overall the FD2 held a very very straight line, no sign of turn or wanted to dump out of the sky. I threw all of the discs into a headwind, a tailwind and a cross wind. In a headwind the teebirds got lifted and the 2 star teebirds flipped. The FD2 seemed to cut the wind well, showed no signs of wanting to turn over and held a true flight without getting lifted by the wind. In a tailwind it still performed well having good glide and the same straight flight but it had a slightly harder fade due to the wind stabling up the disc. In a crosswind the FD2 really surprised me as it didn't get wind bounced or dropped. My teebirds tend to get thrown around in the wind when its a crosswind. Overall I like the feel of the FD2 a lot better than the teebird, I like the performance a lot better. For me it has replaced the teebird. I think the best way to describe this disc in one sentence would be the speed of a teebird, the glide of a teebird3 and the straight line flight of an FD. Way to go Discmania! Third time was the charm!
