The AGL Discs Baobab is an extremely overstable putt and approach disc golf disc. The Baobab sports a unique flight. This disc does not like to fly and when it does, it likes to fade hard. It has quickly become a favorite among those who have thrown it. The Boabab features a top bead and flat top making it comfortable to throw both backhand and forehand further increasing its versatility.  This disc becomes a freight train of a forehand roller disc, hence earning the title the “Bao-Bowler”! Whether you need a long putt to fall quickly to avoid trouble, need a tight s-curve flight, or just need a disc to dump hard the Baobab will take your approach game Above Ground Level.

The Above Ground Level Discs Baobab is a fantastic disc.

This thing is super stable for it's speed, and the flightplate has a raised shoulder that produces what I call "anti glide".

This "anti glide" pushes the Baobab down to the ground as well, making it great for sitting on the ground flat and sticking. One of the reasons I love the Baobab for any potential upshot work that is needed.

The harder you throw it, the more it wants to fade.

The broad spine and it's stability makes it a fantastic roller as well.

(Josh Jones, owner of AGL Discs loves to flick roll Baobabs. He calls them "Baobowlers".)

Currently, I have 54 RHFH birdies between two Baobabs I have. A Woodland Glow that was the first Baobab I got, and a Woodland Hemp. The Hemp one has two LHFH "Baobirdies".

The broad spine of the Baobab also works well with turbo putts. In which I turbo putt frequently. (Valuable info for fellow turbo putters.)

The Baobab has came in multiple plastic types. All production and plastics are done by Gateway, so, there is a myriad of blends. Especially as AGL actively chooses recycled plastics.

The Woodland type plastics are "base" plastics.

Alpine, Tundra, Polar, Lichen (metalflake) are "premium" plastics. I have an Alpine Baobab that is board flat, most stable Baobab I have!

The Baobab has an aggressive, and gentle side. The smoother, and softer you throw it, the more it flexes. But it can beef out if you crank on it.

Rollers take a great deal of practice because it can produce cut rolls intentionally, definitely a great way to practice and wrap your mind around cut flick rollers.

Disc: Above Ground Level Woodland Hemp Baobab, 175g

Feel: Well. I’m a fan. The Woodland Hemp plastic is pretty comfortable to hold! I wasn’t expecting a whole lot, as this is my first purchase from Above Ground Level. I really like the way this putter sits in my hand. I’ve never really liked the way a putter feels forehand, but I kinda like this one. My first impression when this disc arrived was a good one!

Flight: I purchased this disc mostly because I was intrigued by the flight numbers. I was very impressed by the fact that it flies exactly how the numbers indicate it should. It is very overstable. I can really put everything into this, and it won’t flip over! And I can actually throw it forehand! The claim that it has almost no glide is indeed true, you shouldn’t have to worry about this disc going far past the basket. I’ve never had this disc roll when I didn’t want to, which is another plus. I have thrown a few rollers with it, just for fun, and I’ve been happy with what I’ve seen. I threw a backhand roller pretty hard, and it climbed over every branch and log in the way.

Overall: I really like this disc! It’s a great utility putter! You probably won’t reach for it too often, but when you do, you’ll be glad it’s in your bag. I’ve bounced back and forth between a Ryhno and a Pig to fill the very overstable putter spot, and the Baobab just ousted both of them. I plan on acquiring some more Above Ground Level discs in the near future!

This disc is so much fun. Not something you'll use every single time you go out (unless you play some really weird courses) but definitely something I'd recommend having as a Just In Case disc. Or, for fun challenge rounds with friends!

Mine is in the Woodland Hemp plastic, which beats in easily but has unrivaled feel and grip in the hand. Absolutely a go-to in tricky situations!

I'll start off by saying that Baobab trees are super cool. This disc is also cool, if you know exactly what you're getting and don't expect to throw it for any considerable distance. It is a 100% utility approach disc. It has the same top as a Stego with a pronounced ridge around the outside of the top plate. It has a blunt rim with a smooth, non-beaded bottom rim. It lacks any meaningful glide and is very overstable (maybe a tad less than the Stego). It is used for fading hard at short distance and basically falling out of the sky. The hemp plastic has a grippy, almost rubber feel which is not bad for putters.

NOT a disc for new players, unless you want them to hate disc golf. Good for very specific situations, like putting into hurricanes.
