My friend and I both bought this disc in Star as a joke, now we both throw this as our main disc for shots up to 300 feet. No matter how hard I throw this disc it holds whatever line I put it on, while aloways hyzering out at the end. The Caimen feels like a faster more stable Zone, I personally prefer this disc over the Zone. Only downside of this disc is the low glide, it falls out of the sky. With all this said I still give it 5 stars and I be bagging this disc for the upcoming season for sure.

    Great overstable midrange.

Good for forehand approaches, you can use it for skip approaches, and has a reliable fade.Does great on backhand and forehand flex lines and the star plastic feels great and has good grip.Best midrange I've had.

This is definitely a great OS utility disc. It feels nice in the hand and isn't too deep or too shallow with a nice flat top. I use the Caiman primarily for flick approaches, when thrown flat to hyzer it carries dead straight then fades hard. I have noticed when flicking even with a little anhyzer that it will hold that line. I imagine the lack of glide factors into this. Thrown backhand flat to hyzer and you'll get a hard fade great for making tight turns. As someone who never really found a spot for a Gator, I really dig the Caiman and will even go back to my Gator and see what's up.

This is my go-to overstable midrange disc. I use it for when it is really windy and my Roc3 is going to turn over or for longer approach shots where my AviarX3 won't quite get there. I would not really recommend it for beginners but for someone who has a solid backhand and forehand, definitely a great option. If you like the Gator but wish it didn't have a bead, this is your disc!

I recently added a Star Caiman to my bag (replaced a Gator) and I love it!  It is a very overstable midrange disc minimal glide and a hard fade.  I think of this disc as a mini Firebird in its usage and versatility.  It can execute hyzer spikes, short overhead shots, and it holds up in even the stiffest headwind.  The biggest separation between the Caiman and the Gator is the Gator feels so great in the hand.  The comfort instills confidence to execute the many shots this disc adds to your bag.

Love this disc. I threw the gator for many years up until I picked one of these up in star plastic (max weight). The caimen flies similar to a gator with slightly more forward fade. I like to throw the caimen on hyzer shots or even spike hyzers that I want to glide out longer than a gator would.

Love my Star Caiman! Amazing work horse, great overstable midrange. Hyzer drives are consistent and predictable even in wind.  When you put the Caiman your bag next to other midranges you'll notice the rim in much more round similar to a putter. In the hand it feels comfortable, not too deep. One of my favorites to throw for under 250ft. Wish these weren't sold out I need a max weight one to go with my 166g.

It basically is a Roc mixed with a Gator so it has some glide but will always come back at the end of the flight. Caiman is great for using it in the wind. I have never flipped it over in the wind and can test it ever time. When throwing backhand I power-grip the disc and don't ever fan grip. Feels great in my hand as it doesn't have a huge lip. I use it for recovery shots with the forehand and it has basically the same flight characteristics. I recommend anyone who likes the glide of the Roc and the stability of the Gator to get a couple.

I have an x-out star caiman. It has a dome on one half of the disc and is flat on the other. It's kind of weird that way. It's almost exactly the same as a gator, just without the bead. It feels a little better for forehand for this reason. It's a great shot for big hyzers that I want to land softer than a driver. I pretty much use it exclusively for that.

Like others have said, this is a beadless gator.

The star plastic is amazing on this disc, it's a softer plastic that doesn't skip as much once it gets beat in.  I can always trust this disc to not flip over.  For my flick, it goes completely straight then hooks hard.  I get more distance out of this disc than I do a zone and a straighter flight, so it truest lives in that mid range slot.

A beadless Gator. I could never throw the Gator forehand cleanly because of the huge bead on it. The Caiman solves this problem, it has a very comfortable feel in the hands. It fits that classic "very overstable midrange" slot that is similar to the Zone, Harp etc. I actually don't think it is nearly as overstable as some others have said; I found the fade at the to not be nearly as a harsh as a Firebird. It also works well as a putter in high winds; it has a very putter like feel in the hands, similar to the AviarX3.

    Not a useful flight path.

When I was trying the Caiman I couldn't decide if this felt more like a slow fairway driver or a fast and heavy midrange. No matter how you think about it, the flight path is always the same.

The disc will fly straight out of the hand with no turn to speak of. It won't fade until it starts to slow down, but since the fade is so high it just instantly bullets into the ground without any chance to drift. So at the end of the day, the disc ends just ever so slightly to the left of straight (for a right hand backhand player).

I dislike this disc for the same reason I dislike the Coyote, because it flies like a coyote. There's no need for a path like this, something like a Rat is way more useful. I do appreciate the lack of bead, I hate beads.

This disc is really overstable, but not Justice overstable. Holds the line you put it on and will not turn over. The fade doesn't really kick in until it starts slowing down, but it definitely fades hard when it does kick in. It feels comfortable in the hand for backhand and forehand shots.

This disc is probably my favorite in the bag at the moment. I primarily throw it for forehand upshots between 40-80% power and it rarely wants to flip over on me, and it fades hard when it loses speed. The low glide is great for getting out of trouble.

This disc is very comfortable in my slightly smaller hands. It's a very flat top, great for forehand.

I just ordered a second for field work!

I got this disc yesterday and used it for 2 full rounds. It is a lot more stable than I thought it would be by the numbers. The fade REALLY only starts when it starts to slow down. I thought I would be fighting the fade the whole flight of the disc. I already have multiple Discraft Zones but wanted to give this a chance to get something that goes a little further and has a little more fade. Unfortunately, I was able to throw the Zone further, but where this was lacking in distance (maybe 20 feet), it has other features that makes it a keeper. I threw it in multiple wind conditions and it was not phased at all. Plus, I don't know if this is because it is new, but there were several times where this would skip when the zone will just stick. I am not sure about it going 300 as the page suggests, but I was parking this at holes from 200ft-240ft. I think if it had more glide, it would go that distance, but for me, this will be a great wind disc or for tunnel shots.

I call this disc my upshot machine. It holds a hyzer beautifully with an easily learned and reliable flight path. I wouldn't call this disc very overstable, as it won't flex back from an annie very hard. When thrown straight, it goes straight and fades fairly aggressively at the end, but not a super meathook like a firebird or felon.

I am relatively certain that a category 4 hurricane couldn't force one of these things to flip over. Honestly, the thing is so obnoxiously, unapologetically overstable with so little glide that I would be perfectly comfortable throwing with it if there were a tornado between me and the basket. In all seriousness though, if you need a midrange for tight-turning fairways or windy conditions, this is a solid choice.

The Caiman is a nice overstable midrange. This disc reminds me a lot of the Mortar in feel. It lacks the big bead of a Gator. It also has a similar flight to the Mortar. It is overstable, but not quite the hog that a Gator can be. It is a fairly workable disc and really excels at short flex shots. This is a great utility disc to have on shorter wooded courses that require some interesting lines.

I actually bought this in champion and star. They fly almost the same. The champion may be a touch more stable. I think this flies in the realm of a Buzzz OS and Westside Bard. Between a Verdict and Justice. It flies slower than a Buzzz OS though and I get cleaner releases with the Buzzz OS. I think the glide rating is probably accurate. I prefer my overstable mids to have a touch more glide or more stability. I liked the gator better, but I'll keep throwing Buzzz OS.

I first picked up a Caiman because I was hoping it to be a beadless Gator. It goes a bit further than my Gators, but it has the same level of predictability. I primarily use this disc for forehand upshots around 200ft with an obstacle I need to maneuver around close to the pin. If thrown into a headwind it flies like a brand new Roc3. If you like Gators, I'd say give it a try.

I really like this disc  It has a nice feel and it looks great too. The stamp is also a nice touch. It is very similar to the gator but I would say it does fly farther, hence the 5.5 speed rating, instead of 5. But in my experience, I would say the speed is more like a 6. It is a good disc to use forehand as well. My only reservation is that I wish the disc had a flatter top. My Caiman has quite a pop top, which is ok but for a very overstable midrange, I just prefer the flat top. It does have a hard fade but because it is headless, it doesn't handle the wind as well as a gator.

This disc has renewed my faith somewhat with Innova. Been eyeballing this disc at my local disc shop because it looks so darn cool and feels good in the hand.

I was hesitant because my luck/history with innova discs has not been all that good.

I finally bought it, and boy am I glad that I did! This is probably one of my favorite discs that I now bag.

Flight is similar to a Discraft Drone (which I still love) but has more grippy plastic than Z and is more comfortable in the hand.  Less glide than a drone but it has just the right amount.

This disc is helping me get my forehand back, and I can place it accurately where I want within about 200-250 feet. Flight numbers are pretty spot on.

Overstable, reliable, performance when you need it...

This may replace my gator.  Never thought that would happen.  As stable or more than the gator, and longer for me.  Easier to throw with the shallower rim.  Does have a lot of skip and ground action vs the  gator.

The plastic on my Star Caiman is a softer gummier version of Star (Not as soft as GStar but definitely softer than the typical Star plastic).  My Caiman is pretty flat and has a low profile.  My main midrange is an EMac Truth which has a much lower profile than most Innova midranges and this one is in that range.  The rim edge has a nice rounded comfortable feel (similar to a Mako3 but with a small bead).

This is definitely an overstable mid with a strong fade.  More fade than a Dynamic Discs Verdict, but definitely not in the class of a Dynamic Discs Justice.  When I throw the Justice it wants to fade out almost immediately and has a big skip at the end of the flight.  I found the disc very comfortable in the hand, has a nice overstable controllable flight, with low glide.

If you want an low profile, low glide overstable mid with a strong fade this disc you'll like the Caiman.  If you are looking for a meathook for a mid, this is not the disc you are looking for.

Bought it for a spot in between my champ gator and roc3 and it hits it perfect. Not as overstable as it said but fits what I wanted perfect. Reminiscent of a gator but definitely a unique disc. When you need more stability then a roc but less than a gator, grab the caiman.

This is a over stable mid, that holds its line all the way. The new star plastic, is amazing like a hybrid star and gstar mixture.. it's like a boss midrange, but the plus side is it doesn't skip, so it's perfect for up throws to the basket as well.

The Caiman was not exactly what I expected from it’s flight numbers, I thought this would be the fad firebird of midranges. It is a very over stable disc and may find a home in my bag, but it flies more like a beat in soft Sexton firebird but slower, and my mortars already cover that shot well. I like the clean rim for forehand and backhand alike. Mine came with a slight dome and slight pop so it is decently glidey. I will most likely use this for short flex shots or short spike hyzers and skip shots.

I was really hoping that the Caiman would be the Innova version of the Justice, but it's not. While it is a very overstable midrange, it's not Justice reliable ridiculously overstable. Innova just doesn't quite have the ridiculously overstable midrange slot down. I threw it side by side comparing it with a Justice, Anchor, and Deflector, and the Caiman doesn't even compare. It's not in that utility apprach shot that will always head towards the ground category. In fact, the Caimen I tested probably isn't even as overstable as the Innova Gator.  The rim of the Caimen is not as thick as the Justice and it has a very different feel.

When thrown backhand at a hyzer angle, the Caiman stays at the angle and handles as a low glide overstable midrange. The other problem I have with the Caimen is that it didn't work well at all for me for forehand throws. This disc I was throwing isn't completely flat on the top and has slight dome which for my forehand throws lead to me releasing a bit on an anhyzer angle. Unlike the Justice, Anchor and Deflector, this disc stayed on the anhyzer line and didn't flex out back to the right. Most people won't have this problem I'm sure, but with the way I release discs forehand, it was a big deal for me and did not perform well.

If you're an Innova fan and are looking for a really overstable mid with a little bit different feel than the Gator or Mortar, then try the Caiman out, but if you're looking for an ultra overstable utility approach disc, you'll probably be disappointed.

I used the Caiman almost exclusively on a couple of 9-hole rounds of disc golf and really enjoyed throwing it. It an overstable midrange with a smaller diameter, along the lines of a Mortar or a Gator. The rim is very smooth and comfortable, without a very deep rim, so it was an easy release for me and I felt like I could control it very well.

Though it is an overstable disc, it can actually got quite a respectable distance before it makes the final dumpy, end-fade. Once it fades, it does so significantly, though I don't feel like it is as extreme as the numbers might indicate (I would say more like a turn 0 / fade 3). I could put as much heat as I wanted on the Caiman and still get that dependable end-fade, but again, with respectable distance first.

This is not a beginner friendly disc because of the hard fade. But it is a fun and accurate disc for experienced players and aggressive throwers. I could handle having one of these in my bag for pretty much every round.

The Caiman is definitely beefy, but still has some nice straight flight at the start of the throw. It's not so beefy that it turns instantly out of the hand. I also say it'd have maybe 3 glide, since it seems to go a bit further than a Gator or Mortar.

It feels very close to a Mortar, but isn't quite the same. It's not as stable as a Mortar, in my opinion, but still will hold a good place in the bag alongside one. As compared to the Justice, it's not nearly as overstable. It's still really beefy, but you can get some distance out of it as well if you throw hard enough. At lower arm speed, it's just gonna be stable like the rest of em.

Snag this if you need a little more distance/glide on your overstable mid.

I was able to throw the Caiman a lot during a few rounds at a shorter nine hole course recently. I would say it compares closest it to a Hyzerbomb Mortar in the hand. The rim is also beadless but slightly more low profile. It fades just like the gator with a touch more glide. I feel very comfortable forhanding/backhanding the Caiman. If you want a overstable mid-range like the gator but without that pesky bead, the Caiman is for you.

This is a fantastic overstable mid-range!

I have brought the Caiman out to the field and on the course a few times. Since I already bagged a Kaxe Z, this replaced my Pine as an overstable, shorter range mid. I prefer mids with rounded, thicker rims and shorter depths, and the Caiman feels great in my hand.

As a bases, I throw my Kaxe Z around 240-260, and my FD's around 300. Thus I expect my mids to go around 220-280.

I think the best way to describe the flight of the Caiman is as a mid Firebird. That is, it goes straight for a short bit, then just really, really wants to die hard to the left. It really only wants to fly around 200-230 feet for me, and always has the hard dive left. I wouldn't be surprised if some people compare it to the Stego as well. Very utility, but useful. If you want that disc that is going to fly like the Firebird but a good bit shorter, try out a Caiman.
