The Malta, an overstable midrange, is Paul McBeth's 4th disc. The Malta has a strong and controllable flight. It has a similar feel and flight to the Zone, but with the distance and trustworthiness of a Buzzz. The Diameter is slightly bigger than a Zone, but not as wide as a full size wide-diameter midrange.

The numbers are wrong. This disc is a great compliment to a Buzzz. When it is windy my Malta will fly just like a stable Buzzz.

This is an awesome overstable midrange it is perfect for a lot of shots and is good for spike hyzers to get around trees throwing it flat is the best it flys straight for a the beginning of the flight then holds overstable for the rest of the flight

This is the best overstable midrange out there! Comfortable rim. Fights the wind well but still workable!

A reliable overstable midrange, was not different enough from a zone in flight to find a spot in my bag. Tends to come in very swirly plastic which is nice.

I will start by saying I really didn't like this disc when I first got it.. so I really didn't use it for like the first 6 months. However, now I hardly play a round without using it. Smooth glide with a reliable overstable fade. I've been testing my range with this disc lately and am very pleased with the distance and accuracy. Don't be afraid to rip a hard shot with this mid-range, it can handle it.

In the quest for finding a forehand disc between my zones and felons, I stumbled across the Malta. While I do not like the feel of it in the hand for forehand, this is the case for most overstable midranges ime. The max weight esp malta I have flies exactly as I wanted, nice and overstable, fights out of anny, doesn't care about the wind. Problem is, I just can not get the thing out of my hand on a clean forehand. Feel and flight I would compare this disc to a Discmania Method and a Streamline Runway. Sort of like a RocX3? While they all feel and fly similar, the Runway comes out cleanest for me so the Malta did not make the bag. Sorry Pauly

Honestly when I bought this disc I was thinking it would be that go to overstable mid range it just wasn't. Out of the box is was nice and stable but once I threw it a couple more times in any type of wind it would just flip up to flat and sometimes even get a turn out of it. I see what Paul mcbeth was trying to create with this but honestly you'll just have better luck at a drone or a mutant because this disc just isn't what the numbers say.

Huge disappointment and definitely the worst disc in Paul's line.  By the #s it should be great but just doesn't work for me.  Could be user error for sure but the Method is so much better.

I would give this disc 5 stars but the flight numbers are not accurate.  With 1 turn and 3 fade you would expect this to be a meat hook.  It is overstable, but not what the numbers suggest.  I like this disc for backhand flex shots or slightly longer approaches around 200 ft.  This has disc has a large bead making it not comfortable to me for a forehand.

Its a good overall disc but with a odd hand feel. Very firm in esp plastic, the swirls tho are nice. Currently not bagging over a verdict but who knows. Great overstability but will take some nice seasoning to be more of a staple.

As someone who throws Rocs like they're going out of style, the Malta is a very promising overstable compliment.

My long-standing problem with finding an overstable Roc is that these variants still have immense glide, but add a crazy dump at the end for distance control. I find these types of discs either tend to glide away from me in the wind, or they skip like crazy when they hit the ground.

So far the Malta proves to solve that problem. It feels like a smushed roc -- more shallow but without that really beefy gator/rocx3 type of rim. In terms of flight, it is overstable from point to point, almost as if you combined a roc with a zone. And somehow I'm still getting it out pretty far in comparison to my other Rocs.

On shots where I would usually throw a Roc but need that consistent overstable flight, I've been using the Malta. I'm hoping it stays in the bag for a while!

Malta is now sitting side-by-side with my long-time favored Roc3. Malta has a similar rim design down to the same bead-like feel in the hand as the Roc3, with the notable difference being the Malta's smaller diameter. For this reason, I tend to reach for the Malta more than the Roc3 in more tightly-wooded shots. The flat flight plate makes this one comfortable in the hands for forehand shots as well.

Flight numbers are a bit off on this one. While it does finish to the left, and will fight out of an anhyzer well, it's not a hard left finish like the '3' would indicate. Throwing with a bit of a hyzer out of the hand will result in a much sharper drop left.

This is an appropriate mid-range for a beginner to really pull hard with and allow the stability to kick out any wobble, but enough variability and dependability in flight for a professional to lean on for flexing through wooded shots.

Somewhere between a roc and drone. Flies like an MF from Millenium. Feels good in the hand and the plastic is attractive in ESP. Solid workhorse. Over stable enough to be consistent and gets a solid distance. I prefer the drone and buzzz. There are too many discs with this flight path and it is really down to feel. If you like the way it looks and it is comfortable than it's a winner.

I cannot believe people are not talking about this midrange more! It feels great in the hand, does exactly what it is designed to do and even has some great ground play, with a tremendous skip on most shots. The disc is overstable, glidey, and behaves very similar to a Zone and Buzzz that mated and had a child. I am very glad that this disc was released and cannot wait to grab the first run stamp of this to add to my Zeus and Anax!

The Malta is definitely the underrated PMB release. This is probably due to a terribly rated HST of 1. It is most definitely a 0. This disc replaced my Buzzz OS. It is just better at everything and distinguishes itself apart from the Zone much more. It handles more power than the Buzzz OS could while offering the same ability to flex or fly straight. As one reviewer said, "It feels like a mid range version of the Anax".

I like this mold but it is not as overstable as the numbers indicate it should be. It fits nicely in the overstable mid slot but not the utility-type slot like the numbers would indicate. Seems like this disc has two personalities also. Backhand it holds its line with no turn and then fades, forehand it seems like it turns a little at the start before holding the line and fading.

To put it simply, this feels like the midrange version of the Anax.

I don't think its quite as overstable as the numbers say. For me they fly very straight out to about 250-300ft but do have a reliable and pretty significant fade at the end if given the enough height. When thrown hard they feel like they have similar glide to a buzzz but will not flip.

The big bead helps get a very clean release and the smaller diameter (compared to other midranges) is very comfortable in the hand. The diameter is very similar to a putter. I compared it to my zone and it was just about the same.

For newer players or slower arms these will be a very reliable over stable midrange and headwind disc. Faster arms will love it for the straight flight and reliable fade.

This disc is a strange one for my bag setup. I have a pretty decent arm (400ish distance with my favorite Destroyers RHBH) and this guy just goes for the ground if there is any kind of hyzer put on it. It is definitely pretty beefy, and you can put a ton of power into this thing and it is not going to turn on you. It is fun to throw on some goofy flex shots and watch it fight out and crash to the ground. I've thrown it a decent amount of times and found it to fly straight, and then the second it slows down just a hair it dumps into its fade.

But it overlaps almost perfectly with my Zones (ZFLX and ESP) with obviously a bit more speed and maybe a touch more high speed stability. But otherwise my Zones and Malta were landing within 5-10 feet of each other. So if you're looking for a longer Zone to fill a (maybe nonexistent?) gap between your zone/harp/gator/other utility stuff and your Firebirds/Felons/whatever else. There may not be a huge difference.

However, if you're looking for a dependable utility OS mid, this definitely fits the bill. It feels nice in the hand, has a rim comparable to a wasp with a baby bead, and comes in a nice grippy ESP blend. I can't knock it for being the perfect compliment to my bag setup, but to quote a very intelligent man "it does what it does good."

Overall I like this mid but it is not as overstable as the numbers indicate especially when throwing forehand, backhand the numbers are pretty accurate unless you have massive speed. It is a comfortable discs, really like the esp plastic, and I think this will grow to be a workhorse mid for me, due to being more comfortable with forehand and having decent arm speed and form, (I throw a Ballista Pro 400+) I tend to like more overstable mids that I can really crank without turning them over (Moonshine Justice, Titanium Drone etc) this disc is NOT that, it is closer to my lucid e-mac truth, than my lucid verdict, and not even close to being OS as my Justice, however when thrown on hyzer it will flip up and go straight with a predictable fade at the end, usually 250-275 depending on elevation, on backhand however this disc starts to show the +1,3 rating it has if thrown on hyzer it never leaves the line, flat release it will start turning midway thru the flight and fade forward to the end, and on anny it will fight out and come back with a fade at the end, it is a solid multi-purpose mid, that anyone with some experience will be able to throw, just be aware that for slower arm speed players this will be very overstable, but if you are reaching 275+ with any driver you will be able to utilize this discs. I gave it 4stars instead of 5 because of the +1, 3 not really holding those numbers when thrown forehand, but it will be in my bag for a while. I recommend this discs to anyone that has decent form and arm speed.
