The Malta, an overstable midrange, is Paul McBeth's 4th disc. The Malta has a strong and controllable flight. It has a similar feel and flight to the Zone, but with the distance and trustworthiness of a Buzzz. The Diameter is slightly bigger than a Zone, but not as wide as a full size wide-diameter midrange.

Feel- This being the first beaded midrange I ever bought I was afraid I might not like it but it honestly feels great in the hand and who doesn't love Big Z plastic?

Flight- Although the flight numbers say it's a pure meat hook I can assure you it's not. It's flight is much more comparable to a notch more stable buzzz OS. It is also glidier than expected which is a big plus in my book.

Use- When the hole is too long for my zone this is my go to disc. This disc handles wind like a champ and is truly dependable.

I really wanted to like this; I tried it out as a replacement for a Hornet during the colder months, hornet's are too hard to replace. It's not as overstable as advertised, even my somewhat beat in esp hornet is more overstable than this. And after reading some of the other comments, I don't think it's just me or the particular disc I have. I like the feel/shape of the disc and has good glide, but it just doesn't come back/hyzer out as much as I think a disc with these numbers should. I tried this out because I find the Streamline Runway a little too overstable, I just can't get it to flatten out, but I'm going to stick with it over the Malta, dependability over a little extra distance in this spot.

Amazing disc a must have for every skill level! powerful arms will be able to get this disc flat and far for a midrange, near 280 with a hard dependable fade at the end. works great for forehand and lofty flick shots. for a beginner you will have a very dependable hyzer shot disc for anything in the 200 range. now for plastics I have 2 big z and esp. big z is very nicely overstable makes it feel like a long range zone and I would highly recommend this plastic to more advanced players. on the other hand I find the ESP to be much more understable and easily flipped in a headwind where the big z does not but for beginner players the ESP will be much easier to grip and to get proper distance as the slight understability won't be noticed by a more novice arm.

    Big bead Hornet.

I left my Hornet out on the course. Super sad about it but then saw one of these at the store. PERFECT OVERSTABLE MID. Better plastic than my OLD z Hornet. PRISTINE

If you just look at the flight ratings and description for this disc, you're going to be disappointed. It feels nothing like a Zone and certainly is not super overstable.
That said, it's a good mid range. It doesn't do anything unique, it's basically a Roc3 clone, but not all discs need to reinvent the wheel. I chose it knowing all of this, just because I was looking for the flight of a Roc3, but I prefer Discraft's plastic.

This disc is my favorite overstable midrange. Although it is a staple overstable midrange, I'd say it is unique due to its glide. This is not a disc that will immediately fight its way to the ground, but instead give you a reliable hyper flight the entire through when released flat. The glide allows you to still throw tunnel shots and to give you the confidence that it will go straight or hyper out, never turning over. With a similar grip feel to the buzzz it has become a staple to my bag and if heavy headwinds, I switch from the buzzz to the Malta as it gives me a very similar buzzz flight when thrown into a headwind. McBeth knows how to make great discs.

I personally love the Malta! For more experienced players, this disc really does fly like a longer zone. Even beat in, it keeps its stability to give you a reliable finish. I have thrown every different Malta that has dropped and have yet to be disappointed. If you are a pro dominant forehand player, this mid will give you a really straight flight.
