I have putted with Jawbreaker challengers for over half of my disc golf career. They are the most consistent putter I have ever used! They have the glide to run putts even outside circle 2 with reliable stability and fade to maintain accuracy even under power. The Jawbreaker plastic is durable yet soft enough to grab the chains on slightly errant lines. It also remains consistent at all temperatures and I don't fear my disc cracking after a basket hit during colder rounds the way harder plastics often may. I will be using Challengers for years to come!

    Disc - 175 Jawbreaker Challenger

Feel - The challenger is a fairly deep putter with a microbead that fits nicely in the hand if you are not a fan of big bead putters but still want the bead feel. Jawbreaker plastic has fantastic grippiness and beats in fairly quickly.

Flight - The challenger is a slightly overstable putter that is a great throwing putter and many people love it to putt with as well. It is a bit too overstable for my liking on the putting green but I love to throw these discs as they hold a line nicely with a bit of fade when brand new and then beat to be very straight and then nice and understable. I really enjoy the challenger a lot and believe that a lot of people could benefit from its flight.

Overall - A great microbeaded slightly overstable putter out of Discraft's lineup that is a great thrower and putter.

I really enjoy this disc. My brother in law picked one up in Z FLX and I would borrow it from time to time to test it out and would love it one round then wonder why I use it the next. I ended up getting my own in Jawbreaker plastic and even though it isn't my main putter I enjoy bringing it along for a putting practice. It is a very fun disc to throw and if you haven't found your main putter yet give this one a try and it may surprise you. There is also an understable and overstable version so if you love the feel chances are that one of the three molds will suit your needs. This one is ever so slightly overstable for me but not as much as the Luna. Its somewhere between the Roach and Luna for me in its flight path. Overall a good disc and definetly worth a try if you still haven't found "the one" when it comes to putting. Great for beginners.

Review is for the Challenger in Jawbreaker Plastic.

I originally gave the Pro-D Challenger a 4 star rating because of how uncomfortably tall the putter felt and how quickly the Pro-D plastic was getting dinged up. Jawbreaker plastic solved so many of these issues. I took to the Challenger as an approach disc more so than a putter after absolutely loving the Roach for putting. Depending on distance and the texture of the green, I like approaching with either the Challenger or a Zone. If the space near the basket has grass and isn't too sloped, the Challenger is fantastic. Just aim a little left the basket (I'm a lefty, so right if you are a righty) and let the Challenger do its thing!

The Challenger is a consistent flyer starting straight with just enough fade at the end. Landing it just outside the basket and letting it skip/slide/roll in to the pin has been a fun and reliable way to give myself makable putts.

In Jawbreaker plastic, the Challenger feels much more like a normal height putter. The added grip of Jawbreaker has helped to make the disc easier to control and releases are cleaner than what I was getting out of the Pro-D version. Where this disc has also found utility is as an approach forehand disc. My forehand game is still pretty limited, but this thing has great straight flight on a slight anhyzer and has given me some close calls and even one make from 50-60 out on forehand. By far it is the disc I trust the most for a touchy forehand approach as it just effortlessly floats towards the basket.

Overall, a great beginner's approach disc with a consistent slightly overstable flight patter. Would highly encourage opting for Jawbreaker (or even a more premium plastic) for the disc if you plan on using it for approaches! Pro-D/Jawbreaker is fine for putting.

This is a great putting putter and ok driving putter, I prefer other putters out there for driving however. The disc feels good in the hand and I really have no problem with it, but the thing is I just like Innova's Yeti Aviar so much that I don't think I will ever switch putters (even though I love trying new ones).

Review for jawbreaker plastic (173 g). This disc is great from 25+ feet for putting. I have recently been using this disc for longer putts since it has decent glide. It doesn't have a ton of glide that it keeps going past basket. As a throwing putter, it is too soft to be useful for my liking. I prefer to throw harder putter for anything around 150-200 feet.

I've been playing consistently for 5 years now. I started with the Aviar (DX) then McPro Aviar's. Finally reading a lot of positive comments I purchased a Challenger. Got the X Super Soft Challenger and improved significantly inside the circle but they got beat up pretty quickly and the wind would toss them around. There's a sweet spot before it gets too beat up. Only recently 2019- have I been using the Jawbreaker mold and I cannot express how elevated my putting inside circle 1 and 2 has become. I've always been a strong putter but the Jawbreaker Challenger makes me feels like I can't miss some days. A great putter has good grip and a consistent line which in turn boost the confidence of the player. I love this putter.

    NOTE: Throwing Putter review.

While I did putt around with it, and was pretty solid within the circle, I wanted to focus my review on approach/tee shots, as this was my primary test. Jawbreaker Plastic.

The Challenger feels really comfortable in the hand. While it is a taller putter than what I would normally choose, it still had a confident grip and release. (For reference, my primary putters are low profile, Stud, Colt, Aviar X3). When I released the putter at about 80% power, it was a straight shot for about 275 feet, and then gradually faded around 310-320. Not a ton of air time, but it made good use of the time in the air.

Right out of the box, It is a straight flyer with a mild fade at the end off the tee pad. As this review is based on about 20 or so tee shots, I would be slightly concerned with the longevity of the flight path. That being said, It is a relatively inexpensive disc in comparison, and it flies like a stable run Judge. A really solid putter for approaches and throwing off the tee pad.

Consistent putter, recommended for spin putting style. Its fairly stable so I wouldn't get it too heavy particularly if you struggle at longer putts. It has a nice little come back due to its stability if you glide it in on a slight anny at distance, but works great thrown flat and timing the dump as well.

Jawbreaker plastic is one of my favorite feels for putting. It beats in a bit easy, but its grippiness is perfect. I haven't tried it in other plastics, but I'd be tempted to get a more durable plastic in a heaveier than average weight to try the Challenger out as an approach disc or as my driving putter.

    Great reliable putter, recommended

The Challenger is a do-it-all putter. Great for inside the circle, outside the circle, upshots, and as a thrower. As a thrower, the Challenger in ESP, Z, or TI holds straight with consistent stability at the end of the flight, no matter the wind. I prefer to putt with Jawbreaker or the rubber blend (my personal favorite) as the beat in a bit faster, which adds straightness to their flight while resisting becoming flippy. They hold stability for a long time. Not a super glidey putter even when beat, which is useful for upshots. I prefer the slight bead and deep dish style over the large bead of the Challenger OS and the no bead of the Roach or Luna, but this is all preference. These have similar flights, with the Roach being the straightest out of the box of those previously mentioned. Overall, a great disc. If you are looking to simplify your putter game, try the Challenger in a base plastic and a premium plastic. You won't be disappointed!

The original JB challenger has amazing grip and the puddle topped ones are my favorite. For some reason, these feel like they have a bit more glide than the pro-d chally's I was using before.

I'm dumb and I should have given this disc a better shot before rating it.

It has a deep rim (or whatever you would call it... it's tall if you look at it from the side). I no longer favor the roach. Mind you, I like the roach, but I've played many rounds over the past couple weeks and during that time, I gave this disc a workout. For as much as I liked the straight flying roach, I now love the slightly fading challenger. I found this to be particularly true on approaches under 100 feet. My least favorite shot in the game is the one that is between 30-100 feet and when I first reviewed it, the grip on this tall disc seemed awkward where the roach felt more "regular". But once you get used to that different feel, you start to appreciate the stability that this disc has in flight. I wanted to edit my review but I couldn't and thus this one.

I bought this disc because I was testing putters and I thought this overstable disc could hold up if I had to putt into a headwind. It was one of those frivolous purchases that new players make when they buy way too many discs because they overthink their game. The challenger has a nice pedigree and I thought, why not?

I personally don't like the rim on this disc, which is deeper than the Roach and the Aviar, but my bigger issue has to do with what to do with it when not playing in the headwind. I suppose that if I were better, I could use this putter exclusively, but I'm not and so I can't. I struggle getting consistent shots with this unless I'm really hurling it, but if I'm going for that distance, I'm better off using my Roach or even a slightly underthrown midrange.

I'm not a pro player, and there's no honest reason for me to carry more than one putter at this stage in my game. So why not this one?

I currently favor the Roach in Jawbreaker plastic over my Challenger in Jawbreaker. The Roach flies straighter on approach for me and is easier to handle for putting flat. If you love to hyzer your putts, you might like this disc more than I do. I switched to the Roach from the Aviar because I love the jawbreaker plastic for putting. LOVE the jawbreaker.

Wanted an approach putter that was durable and felt similar to my main putter a lat 64 pure and i found this. First throw from about 50 feet fell softly to the ground and with a little hop fell under the basket. I thought hu what luck then after a few rounds i found this to be a comon thing with little skips here and nice roles there predictable slight fade super happy i picked one up from the local leuge director. Also way more durable then my pure zero medium it still looks brand new in comparison.

Supplemental review:  I tried the Challenger last year (2015), and I liked the putter.  The  Pro-D plastic was firm like I like, but wasn't very durable at all.  The Titanium FLX Challenger is a great throwing putter, but the FLX is a bit soft for my liking.

Now the Challenger is out in Jawbreaker plastic.  The plastic is firm (like Classic Blend/Zero Medium), much more reasonably durable, and the grip is very nice.  Discraft has a winner in Jawbreaker plastic, and if you try a Challenger and like firm plastic, try it in Jawbreaker.
