This disc is one of my favorite to throw period. I have discs that fly further for sure, but the flight numbers are accurate and the disc just feels great coming out of the hand both backhand and forehand (though it doesn't fly as well forehand for me). I have better discs for sure, but this is the disc that always seems to land in just the right spot for me. When it comes available in storm plastic I will definitely be picking one up.

This review is ONLY for the Berserker in ground plastic.

An eleven on a scale of one to Free Willy. This disc is FLIPPY. As something I generally thought I would need for what I believed was a tragic case of permanent noodle arm, I was always drawn to high speed fairway drivers with a dose of understability. In Armor plastic, this disc will absolutely hound down tailwind drives, and I need you to believe me when I say that that Armor plastic is pretty much impervious to damage. I don't know what it is, it may be the base plastic, or it may be this individual disc's mold itself. Whatever it is, this is the fastest disc I have thrown that was this understable, and I had previously owned a beat in Prodigy F7 in 400G plastic. (An aside; That 400G plastic feels like compressed dust and sidewalk chalk. I HATE it. I love the ground plastic from Viking, though. Second place base plastic compared to Innova's DX) While I know that lots of complete novice players who understand flight numbers and ratings may be drawn to this, they need to understand that the understability is so pronounced that there isn't even any fade. In fact, thrown particularly high, this disc won't even level out with half power. For an experienced player there may be a scenario that fits the disc, and I got to use it for that express purpose once. I had bought it because I lost my other Berserker in prairie grass and ordered a base plastic mold so that I could keep my standard 'two of everything' bag full of Viking Discs. Where is this disc now, you ask? At the bottom of a river, roughly a hundred and eighty feet away from the tee and one hundred and eighty feet short of where my shots normally land. At the time this brave, bearded, battle axe brandishing, brash Berserker entered the afterlife to sup with the gods, he was at roughly a forty five degree angle down to the right despite a hyzer release and four rounds played. In pre first milenia military terms, I would say it was the equivalent of dropping your shield for one second to charge the battlefield only to be riddled with arrows. Not great. However, I will say that there is a place for every disc. To learn to throw understable drives, or controlling a disc's flight with release angle are crucial elements to the disc golfer. Frankly, you NEED a disc like this at some point in your life. I just don't anymore, and neither do most my mates I throw with. For someone learning specific lines and paths, this is the kind of disc you need. Plus, this, a Rune, and an Axe really round out a kids lineup. It's not a bad disc, but it's too specialized to get a five star rating. I don't mean to hammer on about the turn, but if you throw this disc, it will be hard to notice anything else.

PROS: This disc will reliably turn over for you right out of the box. Excepting the fade, this is what it says on the tin, and the performance shouldn't be too surprising.

CONS: Super specialization means it probably won't be everyone's cup of tea. This holds true here, too. I wouldn't recommend this plastic to experienced players.

The berserker. I throw it whenever I need a straight shot and it's reliable under stable nature let's it fly very well. It offers a bit of power for beginners, but is a very dependable disc. Overall a very good choice for all. If you are on the fence of buying it, pull the trigger. I was in the same spot, and it benefited me greatly.

I've read some other reviews and I have to say that I disagree with what I've read. While I'm not a professional by any means, I have been playing for a number of years and I find myself to have an arm that works right into the speed range of the Berserker, maybe a level or two higher. This has quickly become my favorite disc because of its understability and because I can get more distance out of it than any other disc I own (and I own plenty!) I can easily reach 300 feet, but on more than one occasion I've throw it for between 350-400 feet. The Ground plastic is my favorite and I plan to pick up more in the same weight. For beginners and for someone with a few years of experience like myself, the Berserker is going to be a solid go-to driver.

Viking discs has understable down. I tested a max weight Berzerker in ground plastic, and it is one of the flippiest most understable discs I have ever thrown. I put this disc at a huge hyzer angle and it would flip all the way over, drift to the right and not fade back -- and this was while playing at high altitude! The Berzerker is even too understable for me, and I primarily throw understable drivers for my backhand throws.

While the Berzerker is not for me, this will make for a fantastic driver for new players and disc golfers that throw less than 300 feet.  I Hyzered one throw at about half power and the Berzerker  held a fairly straight line and easily flew close 350 feet for me! Disc like this do wonders for disc golfers who throw in the 200 foot range and are looking for a little more.

I highly recommend this disc for newer players, but if you have a moderate arm the only time you'd ever throw the Viking Discs Berzerker is if you were playing in a massive tailwind or if you want something super understable that you want to make sure will turn hard and won't fade out on you at the end of the flight.

The Berzerker is definitely a disc aimed at beginners, or for those who struggle to throw very far before a fade. It is very understable, so I had to dial my power back to 50% or less to avoid turning this disc into a roller. I felt like I could possibly use it for anhyzer throws, where my right-hand back-hand style could get it to turn right and coast, but with an anhyzer angle, the disc turned too steeply and again turned into a roller-- not enough stability to even straighten onto the new trajectory. I can take a disc with similar flight ratings, like the DGA Sail, and it will make that anhyzer turn beautifully and carry the line onward for a respectable distance, but not the Berzerker.

I think if I handed this disc to a player that struggles to throw up to 200 feet without a premature fade, it could be a helpful disc for them, because it would fight that fade nicely. So I give the disc three stars for being an easy-throw disc, though the speed is still a bit high for some beginners (in which case, turn to the Viking Discs Cosmos for lower speed). But once a player has a knack for throwing, they probably won't need the Berzerker much longer.

I got a berserker when they first came out, First couple throws I was very impressed, a little more understable than suggested but lots of easy distance. However, I hit one single tree and the thing collapsed on it self and was complete warped and ruined. Same exact thing with the ragnarok, felt great flew great, but one single tree and completely ruined. I might try the storm plastic to see if it holds up because I really did like them right out of the box, but with zero durability it's not worth it.
