The Ascent is one of two fairway drivers Vibram currently makes. The Ascent is an overstable driver, good for headwind throws and strategic fades. It has a very slight turn and substantial fade. According to Vibram, if you can throw this disc 56 miles per hour it should turn 4 degrees and then fade back 15 degrees. Like all Vibram discs, the Ascent is made out of quality, durable rubber. There are two variations: X-Link, and X-Link firm. Like the name says, the firm rubber is a little stiffer.

Got one of these as I was looking for an overstable fairway driver that would battle headwinds and/or give me that sure fire finish left everytime (RHBH).  It does just that for me.  Pop it on a hyzer line and it holds it well.  Throw it flat and watch it run straight but pull left for a nice finish.

The Ascent is a great fairway driver. I previously purchased Vibram's VP and liked the grip so much that I decided to give this fairway driver a try. I have a 172 x-link firm that is comparable to a TeeBird with less glide. I would give my firm Ascent a fade rating of 2 instead of the 3 advertised. As promoted, this disc had a little bit of turn with a forward penetrating fade. These attributes already make it a solid fairway driver, but what really makes the Ascent dependable is the rubber grip. For this reason I prefer the Ascent to a TeeBird. I currently reside where the summers are hot and humid, which is exceedingly difficult to throw in. This is the only brand that I trust with my sweaty hands. This is a great disc for beginners and seasoned vets alike. I highly recommend giving Vibram a try if you haven't thrown this brand before.
