The Kahu is a great high-speed driver with gentle turn, good glide, and a hard fade. It also works wonders as a forehand disc with a low profile and great feel on the rim.

A very wide rimmed driver, quite similar to a Nuke. A lot of the old runs were VERY flat and overstable but the more recent runs have had good amount dome and fly as you'd expect from the flight numbers. Definitely a driver for faster arm speeds as it's very fast and takes a lot of power to maximize it's distance potential.

My go to distance driver.  Where I live and play disc golf is always windy so the extra stability of this disc helps tremendously with my play.  If thrown up to speed it will fly very similarly to a Destroyer or Rive.  Can definitely handle some torque resistance but dont get crazy with it.  I throw mine RHBH flat or with a bit of anhyzer and get really nice s shaped flights.

This thing is for massive distance. You really need to have the arm speed to get it to do what it's supposed to. The Kahu XGs are bombers for me. The regular Kahu with some dome, I can get to over 400' feet which - with the MVP Wave and the RPM Kotare - are my furthest flying discs. If you have a big arm, you will LOVE  mashing on these. I also use them for flex forehands.

If you love to side arm this disc is for you. It handles all the torque, is extremely flat, and has a reliable finish. Huge distance, great in a head wind, and the atomic plastic is very grippy.

I wouldn't give it a -1.5 turn, but beat in it has a subtle turn.

I use it for long forehands, flex fore hands, and back hand skip shots.

I have several of these discs in Strata, Cosmic, and Atomic and they all feel great and, being RPM, are some of the prettiest discs on the planet!

Strata - This is RPM's Baseline plastic, but I would argue that it feels like a Mid-Grade plastic and breaks in slower than a standard Baseline plastic. Naturally, this makes the disc slightly more understable than the Premium plastics. With that being said, This one is a bit more touchy on the shot in the wind. If thrown hard and flat it will turn and then have a slightly straighter finish. If thrown with hyzer, it will flip up to flat, turn slightly, and then have a touch more finish than when thrown flat. When thrown with anhyzer, this will hold the line for a while and then fight back to that straighter to low fade finish. In a headwind, these change a bit. Flat will turn quite a bit more and then struggle to fight back, hyzer will fly more like the no-wind flat release, and anhyzer will hold that line for days or turn and dump. I would say that this is 13, 5, -2.5, 2 for flight rating. I should also note that Forehand angles matter a LOT with this plastic and if you tend to majorly anhyzer your forehands, get this disc in one of RPM's Premium Plastics because this will not handle that type of forehand well, but if you have a great forehand WITH good angle control this disc in this plastic will serve you just fine.

Cosmic - This is one of RPM's Premium plastics, equivalent to Discraft Z or Innova Champion and many of RPM's have the Metallic Flakes making them super pretty and sparkly and looking more like the Innova Metal Flake. This plastic flies true to the flight numbers listed on RPM's website of 13, 5, -1, 2. Thrown flat (with power) it will turn, hold that line for a bit before coming back with a nice reliable fade. When thrown on slight hyzer it will flip up to flat, ride and then fade out. When thrown on anhyzer it will hold that line and continue to turn before coming back with that reliable fade (and provide a really pretty S-Line). In a headwind, it really doesn't change, except for the amount of turn you will get from the disc, with anhyzer being the only real difference as it will hold the line for days and fight back to only really a straighter finish and not much fade, but will resist dumping over. It also has the torque resistance for pretty much any forehand shot.

Atomic - This is the other Premium plastic of RPM and WOW does it feel AMAZING in the hand!!! Atomic is probably my favorite RPM plastic because of how it feels and looks and is just SO grippy and SO durable! Flight Numbers for Atomic are the same as Cosmic and the results are the same in the wind, so see the Cosmic review just above this.

The Kahu from RPM Discs is an absolutely outstanding disc. This was the first disc I ever threw from RPM Discs and I instantly fell in love with it. Since first throwing the Kahu I have tried all the other discs from RPM and have changed my entire bag over to 100% RPM Discs. Not only does their plastic feel amazing (my favorite plastics are Atomic and Magma Soft) but they have so many great discs in their quickly expanding line-up. But back to the Kahu. The Kahu is a disc that has been released in several different variations. The regular Kahu, the Kahu XG (flippier version with extra glide), and the one-off Kahu OS which is an absolute meat hook that I can only compare to the likes of a Prodigy X1. The standard run of the Kahu is a great reliable overstable distance driver that is sneaky glidey. When I first started testing out the Kahu and XG variation, I noticed that it would get a mild amount of turn for me but still finish with that nice overstable drop at the end of its flight. Normally when I think of a 13 speed stable to overstable driver, I only anticipate a short distance that I can get it out to because of my lower arm speed. This doesn't seem to be the case with the Kahu and Kahu XG. As mentioned above, it just wants to glide! Sure it dumps out at the end of the flight but it doesn't fight for the stability the entire way. It likes to feel the breeze and stay in the air for as long as it can. I can only assume that is because of the beautiful bird stamp (Kahu or Swamp-Harrier) that you see on the top of the disc. In my experience with the Kahu, the Cosmic tends to be a bit more overstable so if it is a windy day, I will be reaching for my Cosmic Kahu but on a nice calm day, the Atomic Kahu is an absolute workhorse for me. With several variations of Cosmic/Atomic and Kahu/Kahu XG in my bag, I don't see me needing another distance driver anytime soon. Unless, of course, RPM releases another driver... and in that case, I will absolutely try one out and more than likely bag it as I currently bag at least 1 of every single mold by RPM! I was looking for something in the destroyer wheelhouse so I got a D2 and the Kahu. Both are fantastic but the Kahu feels a lot better in the hand for me. I have one in atomic and one in cosmic and I dont see a difference besides how they loo, which is beautiful. I even got rid of my Boss once I started throwing the kahu. Thrown flat with higher power has a nice flex to the line nice high hyzer holds pretty nice. I had a few friends who just started throwing a few months ago try it and it was a little to much for speed wise but it definitely could work for them in a a month or so.

I have spent an inordinate amount of time learning disc golf during the this socially distanced summer.  I threw my first disc in the end of June and according to my app I’ve played 23 rounds and about that many field sessions in two months.  So with that being said this is truly a beginner’s review.

Atomic Kahu 172g - This is my second distance driver.  I have a Ballista Pro that I throw and hope.  The Kahu is nothing like that.  The Kahu feels like a longer 10 speed (specifically my Opto Musket).  The disc is physically smaller than my other discs, as in smaller diameter.  It has lots of crisp angles on it and a nice size rim.  It feels comfortable in my slightly larger hands.  As for what I can make it do.  It hyzer flips with ease.  It can ride the turn and fades back to middle.  It goes and it goes far.  Like I said before with the Ballista Pro it was anywhere from 350 to 440 (max).  In two rounds and two field work practices, I found I love the Kahu.  In the blink of an eye an easy 380ft on a comfortable hyzer flip form throw.  All out throw using the full turn and fade put me at 492 (measured by my app).  The ratings are true to what I’ve seen and the plastic is so nice.  It is noticeably tackier than my opto plastic Latitude 64 discs.  All in all, I love this disc.

Love this disc and love the Atomic plastic!

I can throw this farther forehand than any of my other discs. However, I also use it backhand and flies just a bit more stable than a Discraft Thrasher. Fair warning though, it is a tad more understable than advertised. Having that said, you will get a nice fade at the end if you don't turn it too much. I wouldn't call it flippy, but if you throw it flat it may take more of a turn than you expect. Overall, it's a disc that feels great in the hand and has a bit of a learning curve but once you dial it in will fly really well.

I've seen a lot of great things about RPM and I thought it was time to try some of their plastic. The Kahu is a speed 13 so it has a decently wide rim, but it's a shallow mold making it very comfortable in the hand. The atomic blend is a grippy but not-too-tacky plastic that feels and looks amazing. On a power drive, I got the Kahu to flip over slightly and ride to the right before a consistent forward fade (about 400-420'). It has an extremely smooth flight, not flipping over or dumping out too hard like a lot of other 13 speed drivers have a tendency to do. It also throws forehand extremely well. My one critique (that won't be a problem soon) is that there's a good amount of flashing since it's brand new that makes it a little uncomfortable in the hand, but overall, this might be my new distance driver!

I had been given a Piwakawaka as a gift and it piqued my interest in trying more RPM, so I decided to give an Atomic Kahu a shot and I'm very glad that I did. The Atomic plastic is great, very grippy but not too flexy or overly stiff. It's got a slight, manageable dome, that gives it great glide and once you get it up to speed it really shines. My backhand had hard plateaued around 425ft and the Kahu has helped me unlock a few extra feet to get easier birdie looks on holes where previously it was would have been a long throw in. It wil turn a bit at high speeds, but always have a nice ahrd late fade to keep it where you need it. Highly reccomend to players trying to unlock the next stage of their game.

Love this plastic.  This disc is a great distance driver.  Not for everyone, as the disc will not perform well if not given enough power.  With the right amount of power, this disc will soar down the fairway and land with a medium fade.  As with of RPM discs I have tried, the Kahu in my opinion, is more understable than advertised.

I absolutely love this disc.  It has become my go to diver which I wasn't really expecting when I got it. I ordered it because of how nice the art looked to be honest. As others have said the Atomic plastic is awesome! It's one of my favorite plastics on the market for sure. I've been using it for some time now and it beats in great. It was a little stable for me when I first got it, but now I can get some nice turn with a good rip. A buddy of mine with a much stronger arm got a max weight Kahu after throwing mine a couple times and loves it too. I really think this is one of the most underrated (or unknown I guess, since the ratings are good) discs on the market. Just ordered a max weight Ruru as well, can't wait to test it out!

Wow, in my humble opinion RPM did everything right with this one, I love this disc! I have a gold 169g Atomic Kahu. First off, obviously, this disc is gorgeous. The tribal-esque art is real nice, and it's not too big and in your face. Secondly, the atomic plastic is some kind of sorcery! I have thrown a number of different "premium plastics" like Innova Star, or Westside Tournament plastic, and though nice, it's almost hard to go back to them after holding the atomic. If I could get every disc in this plastic that would be great! The disc is comfortable in the hand, has a rim that is a little on the wider side but fits in my hand comfortably regardless. There's no sharp edges or anything that take your skin with it when it goes. As far as flight is concerned, I found the numbers to be pretty close to advertised, though I mostly use this as a bit of a wind fighter. Without wind, flat release, I only see a mild turn if any. It does still go straight for a good distance before a moderate fade. Thrown into the wind, I get the -1.5 turn and maybe a 2-2.5 fade at the end. I found this to sit somewhere between say, an Innova Wraith and their ever popular Destroyer. I'm looking forward to getting some more RPM plastic in my bag for sure!

This disc is just awesome!  Flat out; a great answer to Innova's famous Destroyer.  Very similar in hand fee to Daredevil drivers and Innova's Star plastic drivers.  This thing can RIP down the fairway for maximum distance.  A little (and only slightly) less stable than I was expecting, HOWEVER I will alter a few mechanics to see if I can cut down on the turn.

The Kahu is a great, high-speed distance driver with a flat profile and S-curve flight path for big throwers. It felt similar to other distance drivers that I enjoy throwing-- like a mix between a Westside King and a Discmania DDx. It is a disc that you can really rip, but that probably won't carry the distance if you throw with low power. I wouldn't recommend it as a choice for beginners or players with slower arm speed (in which case, the RPM Taniwha is a much better choice).  You could say that it is the sexy, New Zealand answer to the infamous Destroyer.  Though I have discs that fill that spot in my bag, I'm still itching to get a couple for my distance throwing drills. I can't complain about the plastic-- either the Atomic or Cosmic plastics from RPM Discs are really nice, not to mention in beautiful colors. It is premium, durable plastic, yet flexible and grippy enough to not feel abrasive at all.
