    Plastic: Amber

    Weight: 180g

Feel: The Amber Plastic feels very similar to Glow Champion, and certainly seems to be as durable.  The shape of the discs feels like a "sharper" Roc3, having quite the prominent "wing" going from the bead to the top of the rim.

Flight: This is my go-to disc for many of the holes at my local course, as it is reliably overstable.  Any speed put on this disc will only ever give you a straight flight with a strong, but smooth fade.  Even into a headwind, the Gila stands strong as a dependable OS Midrange.

Conclusion: After losing my Champion Roc3, I gave this disc a shot, and it hasn't disappointed yet.  If you need an OS Mid that can still push 300ft, the Gila may be what you're looking for.

Sidenote: Sidearms can be a bit awkward due to the rim shape and large bead, but this depends on your grip.

This disc is one that is very interesting to me, I took one look at the big bead and very scooped out wing and though, "this probably isn't for me". But then I felt the thing. Great old school champ feeling plastic, and it's shallow enough that you can grip it well even with the bigger bead. It's got some good turn resistance so even if you don't have a butter smooth forehand you should be able to make this guy do work for you. Backhand I loved the way that it could stand up to power and go straight to fade.

I've never thrown the old Sentinels that inspired this disc, but I do throw VIP Bards, and this is fairly similar in flight to them. I don't like it quite as well, but it could easily replace them if I was no longer able to get them for whatever reason.

Most more advanced players could use this as a workhorse mid, and if you have less power it would be good in windy conditions or as a heavy fading mid.

I was really excited about the Gila from Reptilian as there was a lot of talk about this being similar to the old Sanny Sentinels. I would say the two discs are different, but the Gila is an excellent disc. It really has some nice stability to it and it is a fast midrange, capable of some good distance. There is some decent glide with the Gila as well, but it wasn't quite as stable as the old Sentinels. Overall, this is a great disc for players looking for a stable to overstable midrange.

I recently purchased an Amber Gila in hopes it would become my go-to mid for short forehands, forced flex lines, and headwind shots. After some field work and a few rounds it is exactly what I was wanting.

Feel: Definitely a very flat top and with its shallow depth I find it fits the hand comfortably for forehands even with the pronounced bead. The Amber plastic is overall firm but has some give to it when pressed. It feels really solid with great grip. I have every confidence it will hold up for a very long time.

Flight: As advertised it is fast for a midrange and extremely stable at high speed. Meaning thrown hard and flat it goes dead straight for a very long time. Once that low speed fade kicks in though, my lord its clearly an OS disc. Its got a real mean bite, perfect for short range flick shots. When thrown on a forced anny it will carry that turn line for while before dependably hooking up and fading back making for easy to throw S shots.

Very impressed with the design of this disc. It would make a great utility disc for any experienced player.
    Sweet stamp art too!

    Another hit from RDG!

As a dedicated RDG fan (and one of the original testers of their first disc, the Scale) I knew this disc has been in the works for a long time. It was a labor of love from Jamie, the RDG owner, and it shows. This was not a disc that was pushed out before it was ready. I own two Fossils and two Ambers, but I prefer the Amber. The rim feels a little different, but I wouldn't call it uncomfortable. It took me some time to get used to holding it in my forefinger/thumb forehand grip, but again, not uncomfortable. The Amber version is a little more overstable all around, but its not a super beefy disc. The best comparison I have is a beat in Discraft Wasp. Kind of similar to a fresh Innova Champion Roc3, but not as overstable as the Roc3x. The Gila will fight the wind, but a decent wind will give it some turn. There is a strong fade, but it is forward penetrating. A fresh Amber and 3 Fossils in various stages of wear would make a great mid-range line-up.

I haven’t even been able to throw this and it’s already my favorite disc in my bag. I’d give it a 12.5 out of ten. If there was a mitochondria of a disc golf bag, this might be it. I got it in the mail today and from the first time I held it, it was the most comfortable disc I’ve ever touched. The plastic is like no other. It is a very firm plastic, but somehow manages to have a soft, tacky texture which I’m gonna assume with optimize grip. Plus, the disc just looks beautiful. It’s a very clear plastic, not a foggy color like other brands. The stamp looks great. The rim is very different, but in a good way. It is beaded but not to the point to where it’s uncomfortable. I’d completely recommend this disc without even throwing it. If you see this review, check in about a week and I’ll review how it flew.

I absolutely love the Gila for forehand midrange throws. The feel of it is just right for me, and although the flight of it is pretty similar to a BUZZZ OS, I prefer the feel much better. The top is flat like a Buzzz, but the rim is more curved which fits my finger much better and gives me a really smooth clean release for. Thrown forehand, the Gila actually flies really straight and surprisingly far.

The Reptilian Gila also works well for me for backhand throws when you need to make sure that the disc isn't going to turn over. It's a solid wind fighter and isn't just going to dump out of the air like a Dynamic Discs Justice.

My one complaint with the Gila, and the reason that I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because after hitting a tree, the disc got pretty warped and didn't fly the same anymore.  Before the tree incedent, I was ready to permeanently bag the Gila. After the hit, it was too understable finicky and required too much touch for me to keep it consistent with sidearm approach throws. I'm definitely going to have to try this disc in the more durable Amber Plastic, and if you're worried about the flight staying overstable, I'd recommend you do the same.
