Bought this bag a few weeks ago and it has been awesome to have! Can hold about 17 discs in the main compartment. Has a spot for a putter in the front cover. The putter pocket is a bit flimsy, however, havent had any problems with it yet. Two huge water bottle pouches, one on each side. Have really enjoyed using this so far and would recommend to others.
I have 2 years on my sniper bag now, and probably 150ish rounds from courses ranging from Los Angeles to Seattle areas. I really like the disc storage as I don't need to bag 20+ for a round (does anyone really need to? lol...) It's somewhat lightweight and not a beast to lug around on those terrain-rich courses. I also liked the flag print...don't think those are available anymore though. The construction has held up very well. Zippers still work great, straps are still firm, no rips or tears, etc.
My gripe is with the top storage (really the only storage spot it has). When the pocket is even 1/2 full, it pushes down on the disc area and makes it hard to pull discs out. I also could really only fit one putter (even a super shallow swan) in the putter pocket. Stuffing two in made me fight to get one out, often with the other falling out....just annoying. This bag also tips over on me every chance it gets.
I think there are definitely better bags out there for the price point (prodigy BP2 im looking at you)...but it is still a solid entry level bag.
This bag has been awesome. I can hold 15 drivers and 5 mids in the bottom compartment, 3 putters in the upper zipper pocket, two more discs in the open front sleeve and still have room for a small towel in the zipper pocket. If you're a touring professional, there may be a greater need for disc space but otherwise you will be fine with this bag. It's held up well in the year and a half of use I've put through it and sits comfortably on your back. Overall its just a straight forward bag with a simple design that looks good and works well too.
As has been mentioned, one of its flaws is the exposed base that can get wet and dirty really easily and can be prone to falling over or being unstable. I went and installed a slight modification by melting 9 holes through the base material and bolting three stiff plumbing pipe pieces to the base. This has helped tremendously. Since I've installed this system you can almost toss the bag on the ground and it stabilizes itself. I'd highly recommend doing something like this to improve the bag's stability on the ground and protect it for an extended life. A few pieces of hard plastic plumbing parts, bolts, nuts, washers on both sides of the bag, and your disc golf setup is taken to the next level.
Even without doing this step, you won't regret this bag for the price and value.
Rating 4/5, in case it says 1 again.
This is a nice bag. I feel like it uses space wisely and is very well-balanced for short or long days on courses. It also kind of forces me to think more critically about the discs I pack, because I typically want to bring more than I have room for. On that note, I’ve frequently been able to stuff closer to 18 discs in this bag, but I suppose that depends on a few things.
Stuff I like
It has really nice ribbons on the straps that hold sunglasses perfectly. The strap on the side works great to secure a stool or whatever outerwear I bring along. The scorecard pocket is awesome, but I tend not to use it for scorecards. The slash pocket on top makes it really easy to mount a small tripod on the bag itself so I can check form while out practicing.
Stuff I don’t like
I wish it had feet on the bottom to keep the fabric out of the mud. It also tends to fall over on uneven terrain, so I tend to have to set it on its front or back to keep from spewing my discs all over when on a hill. At times, I find that the front flap interferes with getting discs back in the compartment, not sure why yet—I’ve tried a few different things in response to that.
All in all, this would be a great first bag for anyone who wants just the basics at a very accommodating price.
Excellent bag. As a newer player I have less discs than most so it fits my needs perfectly, Ive had this bag for 3 or so months now and so far the only wear has been a loose string here and there. The bag is comfortable to wear and looks good. I carry around a 4 oz. Klean Kanteen and it fits in the bottle holders perfectly. The only small criticism I have about this bag is I wish the putter sleeve on the zipper flap had room for a second putter. I use the top compartment for my towel and other things so I generally don't keep discs in there so that would be a nice touch. All around, great bag for the buck!
An excellent bag for the price point. I like that it has two drink holders, and can hold most of my discs. Not much room for back ups, so I only back up absolute essentials. Being a lighter back pack it is very comfortable. I have played a handful of two round, tournaments with it and I have not felt fatigued at all by this bag. Now I know it would raise the price point but if the sniper had an extra pocket on the outside, feet, a U shaped main compartment zipper, and came in that sweet olive color that the commander does, it would easliy be the best bag on the market!
I've got about 6 months (5-8 rounds a week, rain or shine) in with my Sniper and it's functionally the same as when I bought it. Nothing has broke or gotten damaged in any way. Sits up straight as long as its not on a steep hill. Carries 17 discs in the main part and I keep 2 putters in the top zip pocket. Plenty of storage and carries 2 big water bottles. Umbrella strap works well but this also has its own means of keeping discs dry with the Velcro flap.
For $69, this is by far the best bag out. I will likely buy DD when I upgrade eventually because this bag is holding up so well.
If you want to have a "backpack" bag, but don't want to squander your inheritance, the Sniper Bag is for you. This is a smaller bag, but is perfectly adequate if you don't need to carry a lot of discs. It has two water bottle holders, a super handy scorecard/mini/pencil and a large pocket at the top of the bag that will hold a sweatshirt or jacket, or several of your favorite most used discs. It also includes a nice little bag tag/towel clip, and features a strap where you can easily hold a stool or umbrella. I also like the simple stylish display.
The only reason the sniper bag won't work as a "one and only" bag for me is that I feel more comfortable with a few more discs than this one holds. My primary bag holds 25 discs. I use completely different discs for forehand and backhand throws, and had to eliminate a few discs from my normal carries to fit them in the Sniper. When it comes to just playing my home course, this isn't a problem as I know exactly what I'm going to throw on each hole. The problem comes when I'm playing new courses or tournaments where I'm not sure what shots I'll need, and want a few backups.
For my casual rounds, I love this bag. I fit about 16 in the main compartment and 4 or five of my main discs in the large top compartment.
