The Prodigy X4 is a high-speed distance driver with a slim profile. It is slightly understable and is designed to hold a turnover shot- even at lower arm speeds. The X4 excels at low-ceiling and tunnel shots. With higher armspeed, the X4 will turn later in the flight, making it perfect for accurate turnovers and driving up narrow fairways.

If I want max distance from my forehand I reach for this disc. It has enough flip to turn slightly while in flight but not turn over completely. For my backhand I use this disc to hold a longer line than my D4 distance wise.

The X4 is a great disc. Just like the D Series from Prodigy, the X Series driver is wide rimmed driver made for max distance. Normally wide rim drivers don't feel good in my hand because I have quite small hands. This disc, however, is one of the few exceptions to that rule for me. Still a wide rim but somehow fits comfortably and feels really good in my hand. As far as flight, this thing is top notch as well. I was able to get some turn and soft fade with the X4 even with a flat release. This disc would be a great hyzerflipper for when you need something to flip up to flat with a bit of turn and ride very straight before it fades. Definitely one of my favorite molds from Prodigy. This is a different disc for me. I looked at wanting an understable bomber disc and was looking at a D4 to try as I had played with guys who could crush that disc. I was talked into a X4 when I was at the local disc shop. I got mine use, but it still is in very good condition.

I've read these are suppose to be faster with less glide than the D series, I do agree with the less glide as this doesn't seem to have the glide my D1 has. But with all of that being said I can get some pretty good distance out of it but I have to watch how I release it. If I give it a tid bit of hyzer it will flip up and go dead straight and then dump left. When thrown flat I get a little turn but not the -2 that it says this disc has but then I get the 2 fade to kick in at the end of the flight. I tried throwing with some anny and it went for a ways before it just decided to flip over and go into the ground, but I don't know if it was the disc or the thrower when I did that throw. Thats the main reason I'm just going with 4 stars, it is a good disc for some crazy distance and does fit the bill as Prodigy says for tunnel shots as it stays pretty straight for me and can handle the power I put into it if I throw it flat or with some hyzer. My numbers for a flat release would be 12/5/-1.5 or -1.7/2. Its a good disc for int players who want more distance.

Out of the box the X4 flies a bit more stable than what is suggested.  It will shown turn, but it requires some seasoning to become a reliable turnover disc.  Beginners looking for a reliable control driver to help get comfortable with larger rims should very much consider the X4. It's much friendlier out of the box than some 12/13 speed drivers.  Even though the rims are very similar (with the only difference being the depth), the X4 and all other X series discs fly like a 10/11 speed driver--meaning, they're a bit easier to control and get some distance out of for beginners.

Seasoned, these will be a great turnover disc or hyzerflip to straight disc.  This wouldn't be the disc I'd recommend mashing on as it feels very easy to turnover straight into the ground.  This disc will shine with a tailwind once seasoned, as well.

Lets start off with the feel in the hand, you know how everyone always says a disc feels good in the hand? Well this isn't that disc.  It has a really odd curve in on the bottom of the rim.  Feels very odd in the hand. The disc does have a very nice dome to it which definitely helped in flight.  The S plastic has a great grip/feel but it's a bit gummier than I normally prefer, still a great feeling plastic though.

I had some very long throws with this disc.  It has a very odd flight for me though.  When thrown flat it starts of holding pretty straight, fading a bit to the right, but then 2/3-3/4 of the way down it does a S.  But it's a small quick S.  Super odd behavior late in the flight.  It did fade back every time, but I would have to throw this A LOT more to really trust it.

Bottom line is it hasn't made my bag, but it could in theory if I can get over the weird feeling rim and if it keeps it's stable finish.

Tossing around a 172 VIP Club edition x4 today and got to say its a beautiful disc in a nice plastic blend and a real nice flight pattern when you hit it right. That's the operative part of this- when you hit it right.

I am NOT a fan of flippy distance drivers. Id rather through something slightly understable or beat in something stable. Those big wide S curve flights are not something many of my wooded courses give a lot of room for. It's just not a part of my game.

Definitely took a while to figure out the amount of hyzer and amount of power I needed on it to get it to fly right. When I hit it right, it would hold a long turn then fight back at the end for a 360-380 foot flight that was a thing of beauty. When I missed it didn't want to fight out of the turn. Should be stated it was 16 degrees and gusty out. Not an ideal time to throw it, I'll give you that.

I got my hands on this for the sick Owl stamp, not so much to throw. I had my fun, now it's to the wall to display!

If you dig flippy distance drivers, this is worth a look. Just not my thing.

This disc took me a while to get used to throwing and I did lose it off a mountain because of my lower arm speed it was understable for me.  Little did I know gravity pulls it the way it should be going and it flew off the cliff.  Happy someone found it because I love this plastic.  It's beautiful and feels similar to Kastaplast.

Again, prodigy plastic hasn't always been my favorite, but this run of 400s has felt incredible! These X4's are the perfect amount of gummy, in my opinion. It feels so good in the hand, even in 90 degree weather!

The X4 has really been a fun disc! I love throwing this for some big distance. It's flippy enough that if you throw it on a slight hyzer release it will pop up and GO. If you release it on a big anny line it'll fly forever and finally turn back over and get you that extra glide/fade distance. For me it is the model disc for those big distance S line shots!

For me it wasn't understable enough to turn into a roller, it always came back for me. I sort of compare it to an Innova Katana, but I think a lower arm speed could handle it better. I really like flippy distance drivers, so this one definitely stood out to me as an awesome option.

I was really looking forward to trying out the Prodigy X4 in 400s plastic. I use D1 and D3s a lot for my max distance drives, and I love the feel of Prodigy plastic, so I was curious to see how they decided to expand the X Series of discs. So the X4 had a noticeably smaller rim than the D Series of discs. This is great for those who find the rims of the D series too big for them.

For flight, the X4 was great. Like most Prodigy drivers, the X4 was not especially understable, but I could definitely get a little turn out of it and it would pop up and go straight when released on a slight hyzer line. It is definitely a shapeable disc for me. Now the one thing for me though as a fan of the Prodigy D Series of discs, it definitely didn't fly quite as far. I guess that should be obvious considering it has a smaller rim. But if you have a hard time controlling the higher speed D series, maybe the X4 and now the X2 might be a good fit for you.

So if you are looking for a workable high speed driver, give the X4 a shot. If you haven't given the Prodigy discs plastic lineup an honest try yet, you are missing out!

I really liked the new X4 as an understable bomber. It is a manageable speed for a distance driver, rated at 12, but doesn't need to be thrown with a lot of speed to still be very accurate for distances from 200 to 300 feet. It can be thrown with moderate speed and will hold a line well, fading gently at end of flight. Even when I threw the X4 as hard as I could and it pulled to the understable side, it still faded back at the end, resulting in a very good, S-curve distance.

My favorite use for the X4 was as a tailwind driver. With a moderate tailwind, the disc flew surprisingly straight and for good distance. I could see the X4 being a very hand utility disc for such situations where overstable discs simply can't handle the tailwind, but you still want some momentum to carry your shot a bit further.

I see that the X4 is hyped as a good "tunnel shot" disc, and I would agree with that, as long as you dial back the power on your throw and use it like a fairway driver. When thrown at full power, you'll get too much S-curve to navigate a very tight tunnel. I'd be happy to recommend this as a distance driver for newer players who are working on their distance. It won't necessarily be an "easy-throw" disc, but it will be functional at fairway driver speeds while allowing the player to work on increasing their throwing speed to get more distance. Now I just have to fight the temptation to add one to my bag...which is already bursting at the seems a few times over.
