This is an odd duck disc. I've tried it and the new ESP venom's and yep, sane disc different plastic. I love the z flx-esque feel of top line and this things got BEEF. It's really hard to draw a comparison to other discs, it's like they took a machete and crossed it with a nuke widening the rim to make it a very fast disc. Really fun to crush on forehands and overhands. Very stable.

Not a very bad disc. I find that they did quite well with this disc. I really like the plastic for the price. This distance driver is very handy for me. I like to throw it yet as it is a driver which I have a lot of control over. Distance-wise, I can throw it close to 250-300 feet. I may rarely get over it. I feel that I don’t have to put to push effort over this disc to get the flight which I want. I say that this distance driver is not for all beginners. This is because distance drivers just require too much effort for players who have not been practicing throwing a disc for long. I do recommend this disc to intermediate players and above as it does give you the results which you may want. Some people may say that this disc is just used for meat hooks, but I say that it is not. This distance fights the wind well. I can trust it to not be taken over by it too much. I must say though, the plastic is a little tacky and does lose grip when wet. It also gets a little flippy when in hot weather, so I say that you may like a harder plastic. I find that this distance driver has helped me over the months to actually learn how to work a disc. Sometimes I feel that playing disc golf means that I have to adjust my game so it can fit the disc. It is partially true, yet I find that when I use this disc it can actually have good effects on my form. It doesn’t require me to lower my body in any way and I know that I can have my regular form without it getting disturbed. I find that this disc is very useful on the course and I can use it in difficult situations and on some tee-shots. Overall, I must say that this disc is a very good disc. It may be the disc for you, so I recommend that you that you try it out. It definitely might fit in my bag and I find that the more practice makes me better when using this disc. Discs like these take time for them to fit well and be understood by you. When I first threw this disc I threw it about 100 feet and it was all hyzer. This disc may be for you so give it a rip and see the results.

I throw a thumber a lot more than most folks. I've gotten pretty good at it over the years and I've thrown a ton of discs overhand. There are a couple in my bag, but my go-to, all-around best thumbing driver is the Discraft Venom, which was discontinued in about 2010. While it was primarily produced in Pro D, they made some limited runs in ESP and Elite-Z and I have one of each. I've been worried about what I was going to switch to when they eventually got beat in too badly or were lost. I was watching a YouTube video where Paul McBeth gives a tour of his huge personal Discraft collection. At one point they pull out a pink ESP Venom - JUST LIKE THE ONE I HAVE! He mention is is discontinued, but someone (Plastic Addicts) makes it with a different name. So I do some research and I'm initially discouraged. The overstable driver they have, the Intervention, has different flight numbers and different dimension than the Venom as per the PDGA.

So, I contacted the good people over at Plastic Addicts and asked them. Here is what they said:

    "They are Venoms."?

So I ordered two to see for myself, and guess what? THEY ARE VENOMS! I don't have a caliper to see which numbers are accurate, but somewhere along the line one of them was measured wrong (or the mold changed at some point?) These new discs match both my ESP Venom and Elite-Z Venom perfectly. In the picture I even highlighted the tooling mark on the bottom side of the rim where the plates of the mold meet. Same line on the same place. These are manufactured by Discraft for Plastic Addicts, as can be seen by the raised Discraft logo detailing on the inside of the rim. The plastic is pretty awsome - it looks like sparkly Z plastic, but is gummier/tackier like ESP. It is sort of a Z/FLX/ESP mix that Discraft has made for them, which they call "Top Line." It is a Z blend, but leans way into the FLX/ESP feel. I'm thrilled, as this is my favorite overhand disc and I thought it was lost to time. If you are looking for a great overhand, overstable disc that has a rim that isn't too crazy big I suggest you check out the Intervention/Venom. It is the king of thumbers!

Very shallow rim gave me grip issues for my forehand and my backhand. It's high speed understability means it isn't reliable in windy situations. It's low speed overstability means it doesn't fly very far.

So if you need a wide rimmed unreliable disc that doesn't fly too far.. Here you go :/

I liked this disc. I got it as a mystery disc with my last order. Beefy disc. I could really rip into it with a forehand and not worry about it turning out. Great thumber disc also.

The Intervention is a pretty interesting disc. When I heard about Plastic Addicts making discs through Discraft, I was imagining a Discmania/Millenium relationship with Discraft, essentially adopting their plastic types and molds. I was wrong; the plastic types made by Plastic Addicts are only similar to Discraft's plastics. The Top Line plastic is like somewhere in between Z and Z-FLX. I really like the look of these discs, they are absolutely beautiful and make me want to throw them.

In the hand the Intervention is a little bit too "beefy" for me. The rim is very wide, and I would give it a 13 speed rating, not 12. I have small hands and 12 speed discs always fit nicely in my hand, but this one doesn't quite do that for me. It still feels like a Boss or Nuke in my hand. Maybe it's just me and that the rim isn't actually that thick, but either way the feel in my hand isn't the most comfortable. What I love about the feel of the disc is that it is flat. I have always been a fan of flat discs, and the one that I was testing waz very flat!

The flight of the Intervention reminds me of a Nuke. It is overstable, but with a lot of power this disc can bomb. I tested the Intervention in very windy conditions, and it held up in all wind conditions. I couldn't get it to turn very much in a tailwind, and it was pretty good as a headwind fighter. I would compare this disc to a Millenium Quasar, Dynamic Discs Defender, an Innova Champion Boss, but most of all the Discraft Elite Z Nuke.

The Intervention was a really great forehand disc for me. It will hold whatever line it is thrown on before getting a dependable fade. It was great for distance forehands put on an anhyzer line and letting the disc fade back. The overstability makes this disc great for those flex shots.

Overall I would try the Intervention if you're looking for a high speed overstable disc, but the Ape, Enforcer, or Nuke OS were too much disc for you. If you're looking for a Nuke replacement, I would say this is definitely the disc for you. The Nuke and Intervention are very similar discs.

The INTERVENTION is one of two discs introduced by Plastic Addicts as their flagships. The other disc is The HABIT, which is my new favorite putter.  I was surprised by how much I loved dthat disc. As far as this driver goes, I feel like it didn't stand out as much as a unique new addition to the market. It is pretty much a predictable overstable diriver that fades pretty hard once it loses velocity. There are a lot of dirvers our there that do this already, so it wasn't a disc that felt like I simply had to add to my bag.  If you need an overstable driver to be a workhorse, it could fill that roll for you. For me, I have a half dozen discs that fly a similar path, so not quite as critical to me.

As far as the plastic goes, I'm bumping my 3-star rating up to 4 stars just because the plastic is actually really nice. It looks similar to Champion plastic (Innova) or Elite Z (Discraft), but it is more flexible and a lot of the discs I looked through have a subtle sparkle that makes for a nice asthetic touch.

The Intervention is a solid new disc to the market. First of all, I really like the Plastic Addicts plastic blend. I though it was just going to be standard Discraft Z plastic, but it is more flexible, and feels great in the hand. The intervention straight out of the box was pretty overstable for me. If I threw it forehand it would pop up and glide really well with a predictable fade. I don't think it will find a home in my bag as I already have this slot filled, but it is a solid overstable distance driver that I would recommend for anyone looking for a nice overstable distance driver.
