The legacy Rival is often compared to the Innova Tee Bird, which is appropriate, but totally dependent on what plastic you get it in. The 2 rivals that find themselves in my bag often are a nice flat pinnacle and a blue color glow rival. The Flat pinnacle flies more overstable with a healthy fade on the end of its flight, while the color glow has a little turn and smaller fade at the end. I would give a flat pinnacle rival the flight numbers of 7 4 0 2 and a color glow rival flight numbers of 7 5 -1 2. These 2 rivals compliment each other and cover a lot of fairway driver lines between the 2.

I recommend the rival, but only give it 4 stars because I do find it to be an inconsistent mold due to plastic type affecting its flight so much.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this disc? Very similar to a Teebird in flight and more comfortable in the hand (IMO), this is the quintessential workhorse stable fairway. I carry a Glow for dead straight to mild fade duties and flat new pinnacle blend that is much more stable. The Glow bombs for a 7 speed and has very little fade. I can comfortably reach circle 1 on a 350 foot hole with this on a laser beam line. The new pinnacle blend, on the other hand, is more like a 2.5 fade while being super resistant to turn and maintaining most of it's glide. It's amazing for flex lines and had no turn into a 15 mph headwind with 300+ feet of power.

Disc: Colored Glow Rival 5th Anniversary (pink color) - 175 grams

Feel: The color glow plastic blend from Legacy for this 5th anniversary run of Rivals is a little softer than the Pinnacle blend and much softer than the Icon blend Rivals I own. The color glow blend has a better grip overall and feels quite nice in the hand.

The Rival has a comfortable feel  with a flatter dome and smooth transition from the flight plate to the rounded edge. The mold seems pretty consistent among the different plastic blends I have held.

Flight:  New, the Color Glow Rival is a bit less straight stable than the more firm Icon & Pinnacle blend Rivals with flight numbers close to (7+/5/-0.5/1.5+). Turning it over did not require a lot of effort with a full flight distance over 330' with a slight fade and small ground action. By adjusting release angles to compensate for the wind conditions, I was able to produce a lot of straight to over stable flight lines with the Glow Rival.

Impressions & Comparisons: The limited release color glow blend plastic feels great to throw and seems nearly as durable as the Pinnacle blend from Legacy. Rivals seem to fall in a sweet spot somewhere between a Millennium JLS, Innova Teebird, Innova TL3, and Innova Teebird3. With the flatter dome, the speed rating seems a bit higher than 7, but the glide is better than the Teebird3 and near to the TL3. With just the Rival mold in a few different plastic blends you could handle most all of the desirable straight to over stable flight lines easily. The 5th anniversary Rival especially flies like a beat in Teebird off the shelf.

This says rival but it more like a rival-x or rival+. Reminds me more of a banshee in the innova molds. This rival is flat and overstable. Great for power throwers or someone who may just want a more overstable fairway driver.
