The Cannon, by Legacy, is meant for advanced players who have solid control of their disc. The numbers show that this disc has the potential to fly further than any disc currently on the market, but must be fired like a cannon with precision, not as a loose cannon. When thrown with power this disc will exhibit a great degree of high speed turn followed by big fade. Is this the disc that will provide you with more distance?

I have a 173g Cannon in Icon plastic. The disc is well made, no flashing or oddities to be seen. It's a bit of unique color: somewhere between red and pink, so it stands out very nicely in virtually any type of natural surroundings. Icon is a quality Star-like plastic that feels good, has pretty good grip, and releases well for me. They typically look pretty cool with marbleized color patterns, although this one does not, so it's a bit more plain looking than its siblings. It's not as bad as on the light blue Rampage, but the two-tone reflective silver stamp makes it tricky to be able to see clearly what it is and read what it says. You have to hold it at just the right angle to illuminate the flight numbers, but not get too much glare.

As for flight characteristics, I'm guessing that older runs may have been more understable, but the one I have is almost as strongly overstable as the Rampage. I can’t really put enough power on this thing to truly verify the 5 Glide, but it definitely doesn't merit a -3 Turn. I'd say it's either a 0 or -0.5 Turn, and the Fade could be either 3 or 3.5. I’ve had a Ballista and a Corvette for 3-4 years so I’ve worked a bit with 14-speeds (both have gotten beat-in over time, of course), but neither of these ever showed the early strong, hard fade of this Cannon. I just got a brand new Ballista and the stability and flight pattern of its -1/3 Turn/Fade are clearly much less overstable than this disc. Like its siblings the Outlaw and Rampage, even into the wind, it starts hooking left on me almost instantly and produces a pronounced skip. There’s always a use for discs that give that kind of a result, though I have several now that can do that, so we’ll see which ones actually make the bag. The disc is manufactured well, so I can't truly fault the disc in any way, except for being billed as understable when it is very much the opposite. Power throwers might find this disc useful as it will handle high torque and headwinds and never fail to give a reliable fade. Definitely not a disc for beginners.

What the heck? This is literally the worst disc I have ever thrown. -3,3? More like 5, 50. This disc is ridiculously overstable, uncomfortable, and generally useless. I was expecting a max distance glidy disc with a healthy turn and consistent fade similar to a corvette and this is like a board flat firebird with the widest rim known to man. I generally like 13-14 speeds and can usually throw 350-400 but this thing just dropped out of the sky. Won't be making the bag now or ever. Free icon cannon anyone? (Jk) (kinda)

I recommend avoiding this disc at all costs. If you want a beefy distance driver just get a champion boss. I don't think there's any need for this disc in anyones bag.

Why did I buy this? Why did that one random blog post say this was a great option for understable distance drivers? Did they even try this disc before putting it on the blog? Is mine a freak accident of a disc and other people discs are normal??

this disc has a very wide rim. if you have a hard time throwing destroyers more than 375 or further dont even bother with this disc. i have one cannon that is starting to beat in and one brand new but even the beaten up one is difficult to get past 430 440 on a low B line. you definetly have to put full effort into this disc unless youre throwing into a headwind but it could make a good utility disc for you.

This disc was way too much for my arm, I got this when I was wanting to try out the faster speed stuff out there after I lost my star katana. I got this as I was on a Legacy kick at the time and had several of their molds that are good discs. Based off the numbers this would be a faster katana, but it flew nothing like my star katana did. Mine was a yellow 169g Icon. It was one of my furthest flying discs when I got it to fly but it's also not the straightest flying disc out there. This thing needs a ton of space to fly when it does, I never got the -3 turn that it says it has. I got more of a -1 and then a aggressive fade at the end more along the lines of 3.5, but like I stated this was more than my arm could handle and I normally stick to the 12 speed as my max distance stuff. The rim on this thing is also super wide and almost on the ridiculous side of big also and wasn't very comfortable in my hand.

If you have a monster arm you could possibly have some benefits from this but I don't and quickly traded it in for something that was more suited for me. Beginners need to stay as far away from this disc as they can.

I have two Icon Cannons that are completely different from one another. If you are looking for a stupid fast bomber, than pick up a Cannon in the mid-160 weights. I have thrown two 166g Cannons that are identical in flight. However, I picked up a 172g Cannon and it is more overstable than my Worlds, and any Destroyer. Buy light, and get huge distance!!

I have, since reviewing this one a few years ago, gotten 2-3 more cannon discs. And they don't turn for me like the first one. I see there are other reviewers with similar complaint.

Oh well. Maybe I'm just getting too old to throw these babies.

Either I got a one-off mold or the -3 turn rating seriously needs to be changed.  I throw about 400ft on average both FH and BH and cannot get this to turn for the life of me.  I was looking for an understable FH disc to compliment my Star Destroyer and boy was I wrong about this one.  I bought a 172 Icon Cannon and it's more overstable than my 173 Star Destroyer!!!

This disc is fast and has turned into a great tomahawk for me, but DO NOT BELIEVE THE -3 TURN RATING

    My personal rating 14 / 4 / -1 / 4

This is a Pretty cool Disc,it has the beefiness rim like the Boss and Handles kind like the Groove, but i have no power arm so i couldn't get this thing fly very good,So if you have a Cannon for an arm give it a try,i give mine away to nephew who has a better arm then me

Great side by side for the Rampage! Withstands wind like no other disc besides maybe my Blitz. Advanced players can really let this disc fly with whatever release they like but I'd recommend an anhyzer release for beginners as it is a touch more overstable than it says, especially fresh.

Really the versatility of this disc is it's best trait. I've used it to turn large left curves and right ones but if you need a strait bomb it's got that too.

I bought this disk about 3 weeks ago, I didnt knw it was under-stable but it seems like it doesnt effect my throwing style so much as to really notice, if u can keep the flight path about 10 to 12 ft off the ground and crack it like a whip on the release she flys good, she on most drives will fly 20 ft futher then my Cutless opto slightly less in accuracy but I have no complaints.

This disc goes BOOM, it can be relied on to hold a line over a long distance and get a small useable fade at the end. If you give it some anny it will usually fight back, but pretty late.

The Icon plastic is grippy and durable, holding up well to skips on concrete, impacts and general disc abuse.

For a new player it will probably hook up on them pretty early, but with good power you can see a full S turn flight.

I got this disc about a month ago. This disc is definitily meant for big arms. I am by no means weak and i can throw some pretty overstable discs but this disc is a meathook in full weight. I got a 175 and i can make it go straight for about 350 and then boom fades like no other. The fade on this disc makes the felons fade look weak. It will pull so hard that the disc will go vertical. This disc may come in handy for holes i need some fade on but so far it is a little dissapointing. 167 weight would probably be a better bet it would definitly get rid of some of the overstable pull.

Great distance driver. Somewhat forgiving for a high speed driver. It needs some room to work side to side during its flight.  It feels great during the throw and releases easy. Good plastic all year round; wet, dry cold, hot.  I've decided to try more legacy discs because of this one.

This disc is fast, far, predictable, and eminently workable for a speed 14 disc.  I actually agree with the manufacturer when they claim this is the bomb diggidy.  It's a speed 14 driver, so maybe not too good for beginners. However, it is, of all the 14 speed discs I've thrown, perhaps the one to choose when you're entering into this speed class.

I bought this disc just to try out, and i am happy that i did. I did not like the disc very much when i first used it, but now that it has broken in some, i love it. Handles the wind very well and glides very nice. I have thrown some very long drives with this thing. This disc has never turned over on me! Overall great disc and the icon plastic feels great in my hand.

I'm not feeling it. Maybe with a little more break-in? So far it feels as stable as a brand new destroyer to me.

The rim is also ridiculously thick, almost to the point where I think it impedes snap a little bit.

I'll keep working on it, but so far I have zero chance of flipping this thing. I throw about 380 on a good day and felt like I should be able to utilize this disk, but I guess I'm not quite there yet.

I can imagine how this disc would be great for somebody with a 500 foot arm.

This is by far my favorite disc in my bag. I throw it RHFH farther than any other disc. I've never thrown a disc with this much turn that's so consistent and easy to control. The only reason not to buy this disc is if you play at a course that doesn't have enough room for it. I was a little weary at first about buying an understable disc but it has so much speed that it's difficult to turn over. Not a great disc for tunnel shots, as it has a long, winding flight path when thrown at high speed. Great for wide open 400 ft + holes.

Picked up a green Icon 174g a few weeks ago.  Icon plastic feels and looks amazing.  After throwing it a few rounds I'm really enjoying the insane speed and consistant flights.  Compared to my current furthest RHBH discs (400ft+ star wraith and ecostar wraith) this thing is amazing.  I've been throwing is consistantly 30+ feet further than either of my wraiths.  Loves to gently swing out right with a predictable finish to the left.  The Cannon handles every bit of power I throw at it , and almost taunts me to use more.  Great disc and would recommend for intermediate to advanced players.

This is easily by favorite disc in my bag. I dont use it very often as it is generally overkill for most holes length-wise, but it is very accurate to its stats. With the proper speed, this will have an extended gentle high speed turn followed by a reasonable and predictable fade. I started with this as a forehand disc, and it replaced my Destroyer. However, I have since switched it to my primary high speed backhand disc. It is very comparable to a katana when thrown properly, but with an extra 30-75'

Try the purple icon, probably the least stable of the bunch and the most fun to throw! They even made some of these purples in the 167-169 range.
