This disc doesn't get much love, but is my straightest, most consistent forehand disc for distance. Adding this to my bag probably saved me 3-4 strokes. i didnt think i'd like it but i wouldnt know what to do without it.

I do not know about yall but this thing yanks on my arm on release. I am intermediate so the thumb spots are cool to help orient my hand and the flight seems to be beautiful but just too much disk for my intermediate arm.

My buddy that can cook out to 400 loved it though.

I purchased this from a local sporting goods store with no idea what the flight numbers were, just thought the hex pattern was cool! Once I looked it up I figured it would just be a meat hook for me, as I'm a new players. However, I was pleasantly surprised that I could get it to hyzer flip a bit and get a really nice S-turn out of this disc. I have other, slightly slower, drivers that I can throw for more distance, but into a very slight headwind this is probably my longest driver. Even though I am a beginner I have decent arm speed. If you can't throw a driver around 325-350 you probably won't be able to access most of this disc's potential. If you can get it it out there don't dismiss it on the 15 speed alone, this one is understable enough to get good distance.

Surprisingly good driver here. I wasn't really sure what to expect out of the Raketen. Its, fast, but not as fast as the Missilen. Nor is it as shallow (deeper rim). Domier than the Missilen, with far better glide. For me the Raketen was a bomber S curve disc. Released flat it would drift right a bit before fading late in flight. It has some definite high speed turn, but was generally resistant to flipping over entirely. Staggering distance. The Raketen will keep up with anything. Thrown side by side with a gold Ballista the Raketen was going slightly further.

I'd put this disc somewhere between a Shryke and Boss stabilitty-wise. Anyone who likes those molds and wants to throw L64 should definitely give the Raketen a look. Its in the very upper echelon of drivers for sheer distance potential.

    Mine is 170g

I only gave this disc 4/5 because it used to be my go to distance driver for more than a year. It was and, arguably, still is my longest distance driver. Once my arm speed improved and my max distance grew to 110m (330ft) - no wind, I started turning it over already without wind. Factor in some wind and it becomes way too inconsistent, sometimes not fighting out of turn at all. I need to give it considerable hyzer for a nice S-line, and a lot of hyzer for a straight shot.

A great disc if you don't have a good form, but plenty of arm speed and want to get some distance out of your throws as it is relatively forgiving on a hyzer throw. I'd say it's less stable than advertised. I've bought two in my life, and can say while they may start at -1.5 it rather quickly (within a month of active use) goes to -2 or even -2.5.

Swapped it for a 170g Opto Havoc for my max distance drives which is a lot more stable and glides way better, but can still manage similair S-line.

Great disc for long turn shots. I use it for long hallways; Hyzer flip to straight for over 450+. So much glide for a high speed disc. Thrown with a slight hyzer and get a long long S turn. Take some power off the hyzer and it'll give a gliding fade and doesn't dump. Those 375 dogleg lefts are easy.

Best Use: long turn shots. Distance (450+) hyzer flip. Long tailwind shots.

I would recommend this if you are looking for speed with more turn and less fade than a star katana.

This disc is was not at all what I was expecting.  I thought it would be a great max distance disc but that is not what it turned out to be.  This disc is incredibly under stable.  And it isn't just mine.  I have a friend that has one and it is also under stable.

This is not necessarily a bad thing.  I actually bag this disc.  I use it for roller and huge sky annys.  I can throw the disc flat out of the and and it will stand up and give me a good roll.  Good for rollers that you have to put down with a low ceiling.

The Raketen was the first disc in years to radically improve my long game. I'm an older player with a fading arm, and this disc brought me the highest speed and greatest distance of any disc I have thrown. I read that others found it to be inconsistent, but my experience is the opposite. It's predictable and long, but here my experience plays in my favor; I don't have many issues controlling discs. The Raketen feels as comfortable as any distance disc on my hand and although it certainly is not grippy, neither does it feel slippery. I appreciate the thumb spots that lack the hexes though because the grip feels better. I agree it is not stable - it's understable even for my arm - but again I can control it.

To maximize distance you must anhyzer this disc with some elevation. I could only backhand this disc. Heavy wind will throw flight path off bad.

The Rakaten is a very unique disc. I was really excited to try it after watching a video review (mainly because of the Opto Hex plastic). When I first picked it up, I was intrigued, but felt right away that the Hex design added a lot of slickness to the Opto plastic. I like Trilogy's Lucid/VIP/Opto plastics because they generally run a little more gummy than other similar plastics (Champion, Elite Z etc.). The Hex removed that and I couldn't really get a good hold on it.

Throwing it I really liked it, but I did find it inconsistent. The combination of a wide rim with the slick Hex plastic made for a rather inconsistent disc. I also found the Raketen to be much more understable than it was rated (which is generally a little expected from Trilogy).

I think the Raketen is a "cool" disc, but it didn't really impress me, and it didn't make it into my bag. I could see someone really liking the flight and/or feel of the plastic, but it just wasn't a good fit for me.

The Raketen is silly looking, lets get that out of the way. The Opto-Hex pattern is supposed to reduce drag upon the flight plate. It flies fast, but a 15 speed is rather misleading. In fact, I think the numbers are entirely off. I definitely don't have the arm for a 15 speed, and if anything I think latitude spanked the 15 on there as a bit of a marketing trick to promote this dimple tech on the disc. I dont have a big arm, and this thing turns pretty consistently for me. I'd put it around an 11 speed with a -2 turn and 2.5 fade. The glide is about right- for a disc named for a Rocket, with a stamp of a spaceship, the thing wants to get back to the ground. It drops, and it drops pretty quick.

I keep my Raketen laying around for field work and distance competitions with my friends. However for the tighter wooded courses I play, it isn't well suited the tight windows I need to hit.

I really dislike this disc. I don't have a big arm and for me it flips and cut rolls each time.  There is like zero glide on this too so despite the speed of the disc it's like a brick that falls to the right each time.  I've tried hyzer flipping it but the lack of glide takes away the effectivness of that shot.

The Reketon is among my all time favorite discs. with this disc you can't throw too hard. you can really rip this disc and get MASSIVE distance. The Reketon is pretty reliable in all conditions in my experience, plus with the hex pattern it really just rips through the air and flies.

Great disc to have in your bag and one of the best max distance drivers out there.

Updated Review:  I have smoothed my BH release and the Raketen is back in the bag.  The inconsistency noted below was all me and masked for a long time by my tendency to throw overstable discs.  Despite being very beat-in (even more understable) now with decent form this thing is a reliable understable bomber.  Distance potential is more INCREDIBLE.  I carry it for BH drives as well as BH and FH turn-over rollers.  Stick with this one to improve your backhand release and it will reward you.

Original Review:  I have a love/hate thing for this disc.  I can throw it further (500+ ft) than anything but circumstances have to be perfect.  I love the Missilen and the Raketen shares that disc's hex texture, thumb pads and lack of glide.  An understable super-fast driver that didn't glide enticed me to get the Raketen.  It is all those things (unlike some reviewers I don't see  more than a 3 for glide in it).  As others have noted a slight anhyzer release unlocks impossible distance, but too much anny or any wind that's not all tail sends this disc to whatever the next county is on your right (rhbh).  Putting a lot of air under it helps and yes you can hyzer flip it but that misses the point of this disc by limiting its distance.  Its awesome downhill with a tail-wind (birdie hole 1 at idlewild, ky).  Its awesome if your fairway turns hard right for a LONG way.  Its awesome challenging your friends to a distance competition in a BIG grassy field.  Its not awesome when it turns over AND still flies so far you worry about hitting players on different holes.  I just have too much arm speed and too much physiologically-induced anny on release at full rip for this.  I can power it down and control it yes but again that misses its point.  BTW I do occasionally bag it still (due to fond memories of very long pretty drives or false belief that I've finally mastered a perfectly flat release).  This disc will go LONG and is better suited for players who struggle with getting even less-fast drivers up to speed (those who get no turn from a Saint at full power, or swear by 150-class drivers, would be my guess).  Its easy-fast, but not fast-fast like a Missilen or Rask - that turn and the fear in the back of my mind is to blame I think.  More like a 13 speed but it keeps that speed longer than most 13's IMHO.  Confused?  I am, too.  Consider this:  If you think you are too much for the Raketen then you probably are.  If you think the Raketen is too much for you then you should definitely try one.

This is currently my favorite disc. It's ratings on this site is a little misleading as far as speed goes. I can throw this disc is a S pretty much every time, or I can drop a finger and throw it straight. If I have any sort of head wind then I over turn it, when I can't do that with a katana or even a wraith.

This is my favorite disc that Latitude 64 makes. I have used a Missilen for a long time but I converted to the raketen when it came out. It is a great disc for carving drives because it holds an extremely consistent line.

Ahh the Raketen... "The Missilen for the weak" (sorry)

The Raketen reminded me of a disc that honestly I just don't like... the Vulcan. This disc is way too fast for an understable disc. The only useful shot I could throw with the Raketen was a gigantic sky anhyzer, and who really needs that in their disc golf bag that isn't 1000+ rated.

This disc disguises itself as a beginner friendly disc. Like the Vulcan, it is going to be touchy at lower speeds. While a lower level player may be able to get some really far throws with the Raketen, it is just way too fast to be used at lower speeds. But with the low amount of stability, the Raketen can still be thrown at lower speeds. I would suggest a Valkyrie or Beast before a Raketen if you're looking to add extra distance. They might be slower discs, but they are more controllable and will be a lot more consistent at slower speeds, resulting in a similar amount of distance.

I didn't like the Raketen (Sorry...), it is just too fast and too understable for me. Not to mention I'm not a fan of the hex plastic and grips.

I have the 168 gram Raketen and I have had the farthest drives of my life so far, about 410' or so! It gives me a lot more glide than the missilen which I would rate about a 2 glide and the Raketen I would give a 4. If you get this started on an anhyzer line you are looking at great distance with consistent flight. I can start this out on a slight hyzer and it will flip up even, glide for a bit and then fade out as it slows down. I get about another 50' with the Raketen compared to my blizzard boss (158) and it is more consistent for me. Great addition to the bag, and if you liked the Missilen you will absolutely love the Raketen.

When I saw that this was supposed to be a more understable Missilen I was very interested in trying it out. I have a 168 first run opto missilen and found it to be incredibly straight without an overpowering amount of fade, but the thing that made me fall in love was the consistancy in the wind. I was hoping against hope that the Raketen would be similar to the missilen in it's wind-resistance, but a tad longer from milking that S-curve i expected from it.

Well, this thing is a flyer - on a good rip, it's by far my longest disc, and boy does it get there fast... unfortunately I have not been able to get a very consistent flight out of it. The opto-hex bumps do increase the speed, but they don't seem to do much for it's wind resistance. I've found the disc has significantly more glide than the missilen, but this is to it's detriment in any kind of wind but a tailwind. On a still day or in a tailwind, put some decent snap and the right angle on this thing, and it will soar.

This disc is fun, but ultimately not what I dreamed: An understable disc I can throw in wind. Intermediate players with a good arm speed may find it flipping a bit too much, but the understability might allow a lower-arm speed player to experience the joys of a super-fast disc without the super-overstability. Replaced my Freedom.

Opto Hex 175. This disc comes across as a disc that would be more overstable then under and have a good finish right. Unless I put the Raketen on a strong hyzer release it will finish right. With that in mind, I still get distance out of it even though it goes hard right. With a strong hyzer release it will flip up s-curve and finish left. But with a level or anhyzer release it will go straight then finish hard right. Speed is more of a 12/13 then a 15. Overall a good disc that will stay in my bag.

I've been throwing this disc for a couple weeks now and I'm very happy with it.  It has a very consistent S curve when i throw either RHBH or RHFH and I get about an extra 25'-50' than my champion boss. I only wish it had more glide, it doesn't seem to sail at all so every time i throw I'm putting my full power in to get the distance but i haven't had any problems with it flipping so overall I am pleased with raketen.

The review above is not accurate at all. This disc is not over stable at all. If you throw this disc with a little hyzer it goes beautifully straight for ages. For a 15 speed disc, it throws perfectly fine for me and I don't have a huge arm by any means. It throws more like an 11-12 speed at most. I can throw this disc a long way with accuracy and I have only been playing a year.

disc is understable, starts to turn almost as soon as it releases, without much distance to show for it, unless you can get a nice S curve on it, but other than that the 15 speed is ridiculous for a disc as understable as this one with horrible glide and fade
