I love the Stal. I got it to fill the workhorse stable 9 speed slot my MVP Tesla used to fill. It is a bit more stable than that, quite a bit in fact. However, it is super dependable, and I was pleased to find that it glides quite well and gets very good distance. A lot of people said it falls out of the sky, and it does, but not without getting a good 350 feet of distance first. If you want accurate at 350ish feet and love K1 line plastic (like who doesn't, it's the best) then this disc is perfect for you.

The Stal is Kastaplast's 9 speed overstable fairway driver, a "Firebird-like" disc that nearly every manufacturer seems to have.  The Stal is great and the flight numbers seem spot on to me.  It is beefy, turn-resistant, and actually has some decent distance and glide.  I find it to be a little less overstable than a Firebird, the Stal has a smoother and more mellow fade to it.  The disc feels great in the hand, the K1 plastic feels great as usual and the 9 speed rim is very comfortable.  The disc is not board flat like some other OS 9 speed drivers.  I like that it has the slightest dome which I think helps give it a respectable amount of distance.  I throw it both forehand and backhand, it's useful for short dogleg shots and I can also get some good distance out of it on a backhand flex shot.  This is a great choice if you are looking for an overstable, but not too beefy 9 speed driver.

The STÅL is my go to disc for approach shots or drives in the 180' - 240' range.  I am a forehand thrower on most shots and really appreciate the over stability of this disc.  It's money into headwinds and will reliably hold a hyper line for me.  The plastic is very comfortable and easy to grip.  I typically find this disc in 170g+ weights as this is definitely a beefy disc for beginners to throw.  I love the durability of the K1 Line plastic compared to my other branded discs.

The Stal is an absolutely perfect disc to fill that "firebird-like" overstable slot in your bag. I mostly throw MVP so for a long time I was using a Flare in that spot, but it was way too overstable for anything other than spike hyzers or skip shots. The Stal hits a much more usable level of overstability more in line with a Sexton firebird, it's got some dome to it, it doesn't turn at all, and consistently finishes but not extremely hard. You can absolutely trust it into any wind and to flex out of anhyzers. The Stal is my main workhorse for shots I absolutely need to fade and for hyzer approaches outside of putter range. It's not particularly beginner friendly because of how overstable it is but it is perfect for someone looking for something beefy into headwinds or for hard flexes in the woods, most people will need a disc like this and it fills the slot perfectly.

The Stal is a great addition to the bag if you're searching for an overstable control driver. I think the flight numbers are spot on, other than I think it has a bit more glide that a 4. This thing will fight headwinds like a champ and you don't have to worry about turning it over. I only say it's not beginner friendly because it's pretty beefy. Great for windy days, hyzer shots, flex shots and skippers. Great forehand disc as well. The K1 plastic is super grippy and comfortable - a dream to hold. Highly recommend!

I bought this disc as a stable complement to my K1 Lots. I am typically able to throw the Lots ~325ft on flat ground without wind. I am able to get the Stal to the upper 200's, and it reliably finishes hard left. I bought this disc to use throwing into a headwind, for S curve flex shots, or as a forehand driving disc. It is my favorite disc for these shots and has been everything I could ask for. The K1 plastic is soft and yet durable. It seems to fill a similar spot in the bag as a Firebird, but is a touch more glidey and a little less overstable, which I do prefer. All in all this is a great disc. I would avoid for beginners simply due to it being overstable.

The epitome of an OS fairway driver. Flat profile, reliable fade, amazing feel K1 plastic. Absolutely love this disc for FH flicks and cutting through wind. Does everything a Firebird does without the mold irregularities.

I think the ratings on this disc are pretty accurate. I compare it with my G star Firebird. Both are 175, and thrive on precision, and windy shots. I can do about the same shots with both discs, but I like the K1 plastic better than Star, G star, champion, or Pro plastics from inova. Even if the plastic was the same I like the comfortable feel of the Stäl over the feel of a new Firebird. I think my next order will have 3 or 4 other Kastaplast discs I've wanted to try. I'd also like to try this disc in a lighter weight +-165 or so to see how it varies, but I imagine it wouldn't like wind as much.

One of my favorite discs in my bag mostly due to the incredibly comfortable feel of the plastic. K1 is probably the best feeling plastic I have ever felt. And not only does the plastic feel good but the Stal is an awesome overstable control driver for both forehand and backhand shots. It is not quite as beefy as my fresh Z Predator so I thankfully get to throw it more often(that plastic, though!) I really want to try another Kastaplast disc, but I have all the shots covered for the discs they have *sigh*.

This is a great overstable fairway driver! I found that it flew very similarly to my Swirly Star FD3 Doombird. It is very overstable, and will definitely not be your longest disc, but it is incredibly reliable. If you throw it flat, it will fade back every time. Throw it on an anny, it'll fight out and fade back. Big head wind? No problem, dead straight with fade at the end. Great for big hyzer shots, tomahawk/thumbers, and flex lines. I love my doombird and champ color glow firebirds, but as of now this is replacing them simply because of how good the plastic feels. A very nice gummy feel, but not too grippy and not too soft. The inside bottom edge of the rim also has a very smooth feel, helping with a clean release, and if you throw a lot of forehand shots the friction rub on the fingers is significantly diminished. Does it do anything a firebird, FD3 or other meaty fairway wouldn't? Nope. I find it to be more comfortable in the hand though, so it's in the bag now!

As a RHFH thrower, this disc is perfect for under powered throws that will consistantly S back as well as the over powered throws that will hold the line before gliding .

First of all the feel of K1 plastic is unlike any other. It's very grippy but also very smooth at the same time, it just hands down the best feeling plastic.

I have a 175g (it's actually 177g, I weighted it) Stal and its extremely beefy!! I've thrown this into about 15 mile an hour headwind and it didn't even think about flipping over. It's a slightly less stable Firebird but much better feeling in the hand.

I would put this disc somewhere between a Firebird and a C-Line PD. If you can't throw 400+ feet than I would pass on this disc.

The Kastaplast K1 Stal surprised me a lot! It was very overstable. I tested it out at 4500' elevation in 35-40 degree weather. I was able to throw it in a variety of different situations, and it was a pretty cool disc. I found myself testing out the Stal in similar situations that I was throwing my Sexton Color Glow Firebird. Each time, the Stal outdrove the Sexton Firebird. It was a combination of everything; it felt a bit faster, a bit more glide, and a bit less stability. Overall, the Stal is true to its flight ratings. I don't recommend this disc for distance shots.

Much like the Firebirds I love so very much, I found myself throwing the Stal with a forehand more than a backhand. I generally prefer to forehand my more overstable discs, so this one fit right in. I also liked it for a spike hyzer backhand as well. I was able to test it in a mild headwind, and it performed very well, acting as if the breeze was not even there. When I tried to put a good anhyzer on the Stal, it laughed at me and fought right out of it. It would be great for anyone with a nasty anhyzer release (I know who you are, flex-forehanders!)

The feel of the plastic is nice. The K1 is grippy but slick, similar to a lot of Trilogy plastic. The disc felt stiff in the hand and a moderate (but not major) dome on the top for such an overstable disc.

I would recommend this disc to someone that is looking to try a new utility overstable disc. Although it doesn't quite have the stability of a Firebird, I think it is definitely more stable than a Felon. The feel is similar to both of those, like a fast fairway driver or slow distance driver. The stability on the Stal is impressive and works well in windy conditions. I think the Stal is a great addition to the Kastaplast lineup as they continue to release new molds and round out their shot variety.
