I spent two seasons perfecting my backhand.  I was a forehand main forever and i really needed more shots in my bag.

At the end of my forehand peak i was throwing OS 12 speeds furthest.  As i went backhand to learn my discs became much slower.  Unfortunately this meant the discs id use for forehand were a little slower as well.

Recently i re-discovered the skulboy xxl i got in a bulk box when showing off my collection to a friend.  As a guy that loves to try new stuff i decided to bring it out the past two days as my os disc.

Oh. My lawd.  This thing is a monster.  As someone who has no business throwing a 14 speed disc, this thing is bombing further than anything else ive thrown.  Just enough turn on BOTH bh and fh that im consistently getting 400+ feet where i have the room.

Needless to say this thing is sticking around in the bag for now.  Slightly worried to see what happens as it beats in.. but loving it so far!

This is my go-to disc for big distance throws.  At max power it gets understable and glides for a while before fading at the end.  You just need to throw it high enough to give it time to fade back.  Definitely a tricky disc to throw consistently.  The rim is comfortable too (I'm mostly a forehand thrower).

I kept seeing reviews on here stating that this thing is like a beat in Destroyer. That's simply not true. I have owned several Destroyers, and they all have been more overstable than their flight numbers would indicate. I would say this thing is spot on to it's flight numbers as it is more overstable than my Destroyers have been. This is why the ONLY reason I keep a Destroyer in my bag is if I need something more overstable for a headwind that will still get good distance. Then, I use my Defender if I need even a little more beef than that. If I want pure distance, I go to my Enigma, Grace, or Air Trespass.

I won this disc as a CTP, have thrown it a few times, and just don't think I'll end up using it a bunch. Will probably go in my "sell it" box.

I've been eyeing this disc every time I'm in a store and finally decided to buy not one, but TWO. Having read reviews about how it's like a well seasoned destroyer "right out of the box", and I bag a few destroyers myself I decided to give it a go. Bought twins, both 170g. Boy am I NOT disappointed.

Feels like a destroyer in the hand, more of a speed 12 than a 14 for sure. I do agree with the 4 glide as it doesn't seem to fly for very...long..? However, they do bomb pretty far. I have an ESP Force, and an old AJ star destroyer that are my bombers, and these firestorms will go just as far with a similar line and flight shape.

Only thrown a couple times each, so I'm still getting used to them, but dang. They're both going in the bag.

All of that being said,  I wouldn't recommend this disc unless you can throw at least around 400 ft, this disc will be too much for you. Not very beginner friendly.

This disc is amazing for forehand control distance! It definitely has more turn then they say but I would definitely say it's a faster beat in destroyer. The rim is not as deep as a destroyer which makes it even better forehand. The fade is very a forward fade doesn't dump so much to the side as a lot of other discs.

Disc - 173 Innova Champion Firestorm

Feel - The Firestorm's rim is not very wide for a 14 speed driver and it fits comfortably in my hand. If a destroyer feels good to you then I would assume that the firestorm would also fit fairly week in your hand. It feels good for both backhand and forehand shots due to its flat profile. The champion plastic is very durable but doesn't have the greatest grip an, as others have noted, the plastic in the rim of the firestorm is similar to blizzard champion plastic.

Flight - The flight of the Firestorm is very similar to that of a destroyer in my opinion. Others have noted a lot of turn on this disc and I would say the same thing when putting around 425 ft of power on this disc. I really enjoy throwing this disc on a bit of hyzer and letting it flip up to flat and ride for a long time. I like this disc for long straight shots that need a good bit of finish on the end of the flight.

Overall - The Firestorm is very similar to a destroyer in my opinion or a star boss and so if you like the flight of those discs but it isn't quite working for you then you could definitely give the firestorm a try but if you like those discs it's not really worth it .

This disc has been amazing for me. I have consistently gotten longer drives using this disc. This is a great disc for forehand and also low ceiling drives.

I fell in love with mine from the first throw.  I can throw it as hard as i can and it wont turn over on me and give a nice straight flight with a reliable fade.  At slower arm speeds its super overstable and a great utility disc.

As a forehand player, this disc is amazing! you feel like you have a lot of control over its flight path in wooded areas and I always feel confident throwing it. If you can generate a solid snap release at the end of your forehand throw, ignore the 14 speed and give it a try if you are a beginner. Also works for backhands no problem.

Full disclosure: I bought this disc by accident mistaking it for a "Firebird," but I could not be happier that I got this disc instead! The Firestorm claims a speed rating of 14, and by all means I should be unable to throw a disc with a speed rating that high, but somehow I can manage to get some of my best drives from this. This disc never seems to gain a ton of altitude and fly too high, making it a great driver to use when there is a low ceiling in play. Although it doesn't gain a lot of altitude, that doesn't mean that it results in short drives. I have consistently gotten my longest, most accurate, drives out of this disc. I am only starting out in this sport, and I am constantly surprised by what I am able to accomplish when using this disc as my driver. I am not 100% sure that every beginner will have the same result, that is why I put my recommendation for beginners as "neutral." Come to think of it, I haven't  actually seen anyone else throwing a Firestorm. In my opinion, more people should give this disc a try, it has definitely served me well so far!

This is an amazing disc for both forehand and backhand. Super fast!  I would rate the flight of the Star 175g as 14/4/-1.5/3.   I would rate the Champion 175g as 14/4/1/3.  It replaced my Shrykes quickly! It is a must-try disc!
