I have used this disc for 3-4 years and have had every different plastic. I mostly stick to the dx version of this disc because i enjoy beating them in. On all shots this disc gets a nice drop out of the air similar to a pig. If you take a slightly beat aviar3 and throw it on a 200 foot hole it will hit the ground before you even notice any fade. This disc also taught me how to throw flick rollers in the woods. The flat top lets you control the angle and the rim does the rest. It will easily roll around 50-150 feet and curl baskets and corners perfectly. backhands and forehands are easy and predictable. I play in windy conditions and putt with it often. If Innova made this in the yeti pro plastic I would never want anything else. Fantastic disc and cant beat the price.

Review is for Star plastic 175g

I've actually used this disc for 4-5 years. I bought a meaty, flat top Aviar3. Pretty overstable, but broke in nicely over time becoming incredibly accurate. I purposely bought the disc in star plastic because I wanted a disc that wears well and breaks in to a great woods throwing putter.

At this point I just keep it in the bag at all times. Rip on it as hard as you want and it just doesn't flip. It's great against headwind, holds angles, doesn't blow past the basket on up shots, and doesn't skid/roll on landing. Isn't too bad for forearms either!

That being said, I bought another aviar3 in star plastic with a notably gummier top. It's noticeably more understable right away but still holds a nice flight and is torque forgiving. Good if you're learning approach/shorter woods lines

My go to putter. I use to putt with the Aviar but once I found the Aviar3 It was heaven. The flat top feels great in my hand and makes it a lot more comfortable to hold and release. Throw any line and it will hold it. Love throwing it on downhill or any short tunnel shots for nice a straight approach. I prefer the DX plastic for its grip and stiffness. Would recommend to anyone.

    Great Control

    175g XT plastic

I have waited too long for Innova to make this one,  this disc is a good shot shaper. Can really work some lines with this disc,  good for hyzers, and works well for Ron Russell  Style putts.  I will use this mostly for approach, wind putts,  some tricks.  really like the flat top.  I would give it five stars, but it likes to roll after hitting the basket.  So the Omega SS is still the goto for staying put.  The Aviar3 is also not bad for a flick shot approach.   Also good for parking 100 foot to 150 approaches.   This would be a great driver for a new player too.

I absolutely love the feel of this disc in my hand. It is just the right depth and the rim fits perfectly on my palm. I love the flat top of the Aviar 3 (and in general, I prefer flat tops). For me, it flies much like a slower Roc 3. It holds whatever line you put it on, but if you throw it full strength, it will fly fairly straight before fading nicely. I use my Aviar 3 more as a throwing putter, but works well as a putting putter if that is what you are looking for. Being slightly overstable, it works great when putting in the wind.

The DX Aviar3 has been more comfortable in my hand than any other putting-putter I've tried. I like traditional DX Aviars for short approaches and I love how straight they fly, but they are too deep for my hands to get a good putting grip on. The flat top of the Aviar3 is the perfect solution. The lip feels similar to that on a regular Aviar but it is shallow enough for my hand to grip firmly. I don't mind the extra stability since I have a fairly fast putt, plus they lose a bit of fade as they beat in quickly, making it fly more like an Aviar. Very happy with these.

This is by far my favorite putter in my bag of between a Birdie and a Lat64 Pure SS.  Very sturdy and predictable.  Love the straight, flat path with a slight fade at the end.  Makes for a great approach disc and a putter you can throw straight at the basket from short or hyzer from mid range.  Will most likely add this one in a higher grade plastic very soon!

If any of you have ready my review for the Star Aviar3, you can imagine that I am going to be intrigued by the release of the DX version. Currently I am having an internal struggle on whether or not the DX Aviar3 is going to become my new putter for putting. I love the Star version for approaching and teeshots, but they are a bit overstable and slick for my putting style. I love DX plastic and the shape of the Aviar, but have never liked the lack of stability of a regular DX Aviar. So naturally, I putt with the slightly more stable D-Line P2 from Discmania. So now, the DX Aviar is released and OF COURSE I have to try it as a putter. And so far I haven't found any issues. I love the flat top and the mix of grip and slickness of DX plastic. I haven't quite made a decision to stick with the P2 or switch to the Aviar3, but it is still a work in progress.

One thing that sets the DX Aviar3 apart from the Star Aviar3 is the stability. The DX is noticeably (but not considerably) less stable than the Star Aviar3. A brand new DX Aviar3 will be similar to a Star Aviar3, but it breaks in a lot faster and has a good amount of straight flight to it. Because of this, I like it a lot more as a putting putter than a driving putter. If I need to throw straight without any fade, I may find myself picking up a DX Aviar3 off the tee in windy conditions, but for the most part the Star Aviar3 wins here; it is rare that I find myself teeing off with a DX Aviar3 over the Star Version. The same is the case for approach shots, I will only find myself picking up the DX version if I need to be absolutely sure that there is no fade on the shot that I am shaping.

For putting, so far, it has been everything I want in a putter. Low-ish profile, flat top, and overstable but not too overstable. I could never perform well in the wind when I was putting with a regular Aviar, and the Aviar3 has solved that problem. For someone with a softer/dainty putt, this putter is fantastic for the wind. It doesn't dump out into a hyzer like a Rhyno or Harp does for me, but instead holds its line true into a headwind. I haven't switched fully to putting with an Aviar3, but on a windy day I am definitely going to leave the P2's in the car and putt exclusively with the Aviar3. It is so dependable that I just can't beat it with the D-Line P2.

Overall, the DX Aviar3 is a great option for someone looking for a more stable putter but doesn't want something that hooks really hard like a Pig or Harp. I don't think I could use it exclusively as an overstable putter, but it fits in nicely between the Pigs and Harps of the disc golf world and the Wardens and Aviars. If you need something in between or a great dependable wind putter, pick up a DX Aviar3 and you won't be disappointed.

This is it. Innova FINALLY came out with a great putter in DX and star. It's stable, can handle Oklahoma winds, can handle flicks, hyzers. It's a great putter so I'll leave it at that.
