The Mystic is one of the newer discs in the Gateway midrange line. This is an understable midrange that can hold any line, and is easy to throw. It is another great Gateway midrange for beginners. The Mystic is available in Sure Grip and Evolution plastics. It can be purchased in light weights, and has a very similar feel to other Gateway midranges (same rim width & depth) to help provide consistent disc golfing results.

To be honest I don't use an under stable mid range all that often. I prefer a back hand flick to turnovers especially on up shots. However, once in awhile I need to flip up a midrange off the tee and for that, this disc is perfect. It feels a lot like my star Mako in my hand but perhaps a little less flex/rubberyness. Not sure I would give it quite a -3 on turn at least in diamond plastic, although I'm sure it will get flippier.

This is a great disc for anhyzer throws. It holds lines incredibly well and will maintain the anhyzer all the way to the target. That isn't to say it doesn't take some work getting the throw down, the disc isn't going to learn technique for you but there is nothing sweeter than watching one of these glide along on a huge flip and parking next to a basket. I can't speak to how it might throw for new players, I assume it would give beginners a little extra distance. For pro\advance players it adds a new weapon to the arsenal and a means of getting out from behind some tricky obstacles. Nothing I like more than seeing someone's jaw drop as they ask "how did you do that?" which happens pretty often when I am throwing this particular disc.

I have a 178g Diamond Mystic. Newer player RHBH. The Mystic is probably my farthest flying midrange with great shot shaping abilities. This disc is great for turnover shots and hyser flips. The high glide and fade really extend the second part of the flight after it's initial turn. Thrown flat it turns right pretty quick with very minimal fade to finish. For newer players this disc can add some extra distance to their midrange shots. More experienced players will find it useful for shaping specific lines through wooded holes. It would probably be a decent roller but I don't even mess around with those at this point.

As far as feel in the hands goes, the closest thing I've held to it is my Mako3. Both discs have a very thin flat profile. The Mystic even more so. It is probably the flattest thinnest disc I've held. The rim is also a similar shape to a Mako but even smaller. The smaller rim makes a power grip difficult for large-ish hand sizes but is very comfortable for a fan grip. I wouldn't recommend throwing forehand because of the rim shape and understability. It also is slightly wider than most discs. Diamond plastic is probably the most durable plastic I've thrown. It can withstand all but the most violent collisions without taking damage. It also feels great, slick and grippy at the same time.

Overall one of my favorite discs to throw and my most crushable midrange. I can put this thing out about 270 with minimal effort. Only about 40 feet short of my max distance with a driver. I do sometimes play entire rounds without reaching for the Mystic because of the specific nature of the disc, but I keep it because I know when I need my backhand to go right, the Mystic will answer the call. I think most players could benefit from having this disc in diamond plastic.

I received this disc in a disc exchange with Trash Panda disc gold and I was quite surprised with how it flew. It was used quite a bit but flew as a perfect understable midrange. I can throw this thing on all sorts of hyzers and get different flights out of them. I imagine this disc brand new would be really neutral to slightly understable and would be the perfect beginner disc. It feels great in the hands and will work for all types of players trying to throw it.

I found this disc on my local course, all covered in pine needles and mud with no name on it.  I washed the poor thing off in the nearby sprinkler and had no idea what numbers it had or even what brand it was, it was a Kiewit company picnic disc.  I decided to give it a throw and I really found it interesting.  I don't have any understable midranges and never found a real need for one, but this disc has turned from a puppy in the pound, about to be put down, to a trusted and loved member of the family.

I find it very fun to throw. Because it is a midrange, it is super versatile.  I can throw some super fun shots with it, huge sky turn-overs, laser line hyzers, and even some roller action with it.  I have ended up re-losing it several times because I try some crazy shots with it, but just like they say, if you love something let it go, if it never returns, it wasn't meant to be.  Well it was meant to be, it has come back every time, I'll find it weeks or even months later.

The rim is fairly shallow, so I can even get a nice touch flick with it that releases super smooth.  For me, this disc is the anti-Justice, strictly utility and a get out of trouble disc.  Definitely get one, and if you don't like it, lose it on my course and I'll take it in and give it a good home.

Created a profile to review this disc. Absolutely love this disc, glide is killer and it is a bit under stable. Stand still can toss this thing 290 and literally lands exactly how thrown. I play a wooded home course and this disc is straight money! Changed my game immediately. Sting arms maybe should avoid but for noodle arms, wow! Love love love this disc. Crushing it from outside my putter distance!!

The Evolution Diamond plastic is extremely hard and durable. The grip isn't the best but it is adequate. On the other hand the Platinum is more soft and grippable.

This is a hidden gem in the Gateway discs mid range line up. At lower power at around 200 feet it will hold a very straight line. What makes the Mystic special is how it reacts to power. If you want more turn throw it harder. Between adjusting release angles and power you can shape just about any shot with this disc. If I need to go right no matter what this is the disc I go for and just throw hard and a little hyzer - there will be no fade.

This is a staple of my bag. Think Comet, Meteor, Fuse, but with a better hand feel due to its flatter top.
