The Dynamic Discs Thief is fairway driver that was included as part of the 2014 Trilogy Challenge players pack. The Thief is friendly for disc golfers of all skill levels, and slightly more stable than the DD Witness. DD describes the Thief like this, "...a versatile fairway driver that will benefit players of all skill levels.

With the stable flight path and glide, the Thief will be a fairway workhorse for every bag. For slower arms, the Thief will be an overstable complement to the Witness. For big arms, the Thief will be a straight flyer with slight hyzer release.”

    Disc - 173 Fuzion Thief

Feel - The Thief feels very comfortable in the hand, it has a smaller rim and a blunt edge that fits nicely into your palm. It is not very shallow but not too deep either and feels good for both backhand and forehand shots. Fuzion plastic from DD is very grippy but also is very durable feels good in the hand.

Flight - For beginner players, the Thief is a great disc to throw hyzer flips to straight shots and for more advanced players, it can be used for hyzer flip to turn with a bit of finish on the end of the flight. I really enjoy this disc in the woods when you need a lot of glide but don't want to throw very hard and that is what the thief provides. It also works well for rollers and many top pros use it for rollers or long turnover shots.

Overall - The Thief is a good disc for players of all skill sets and it can fill a slot in most players bag. If you have thrown a Discraft mantis I would say that this disc is fairly similar to that.

The Lucid Thief is a great fairway driver for any skill level player. It is more under-stable than the advertised "stable" fairway driver. Thrown on a lot of hyzer, the Thief will flip up and still flex for a long time. It sometimes will demonstrate a small amount of fade, but often does not. This assessment is based on throwing the disc up to 400ft.

There were two areas of my game that the Thief absolutely benefitted: Forehands and backhand rollers. I found the Thief to be the perfect fairway driver to help me to learn forehand shots. It flips up to flat from hyzer with little power, and then the glide will kick in, allowing the Thief to travel farther than I could have with a forehand before.

The Thief was great for shorter range rollers as  one can throw it flat, and it will land perfectly in a roller angle. The Thief has a spot in anyone's bag.

At first I thought this disc beat in too fast because it is very flippy for me. But after I read some other reviews it makes a little more sense. It will start to turn when you put just a little bit of power behind it. I picked this up in the lucid plastic so it holds up extremely well. I've never been able to forehand this very well because the torque seems to flip it into the ground too fast, but a nice smooth backhand will send the thing gliding down the fairway on pretty tight lines overall. My flight ratings 8 5 -2 1.5

This disc does not match to what the flight chart states.. It flips alot easier with some power behind it.  But I love this disc for a flip disc it's always predictable, I own a few now and they all fly the same.. narrow rim allows an easy grip and release from the pad.

    8 6 -4  1

To me this is more like the actual flight

Saddly this disc was taken out of production in 2019, so I recommend you people out there to buy one while you still can to try this disc out..

The Thief is a weird disc. It flies similar lines to a distance driver, just doesn't fly as far. Which is useful if you love throwing distance drivers and need a disc you can get some easy distance control with. Mine flies like a beat in star shryke, just 50-60 feet shorter.

It flips quickly out of my hand, rides straight for the next 80% of the flight, and then begins to fade. Weird disc, but a lot of fun to throw. Decent roller too.

This disc in lucid, seems to be rather flippy which works out for me greatly.. I have no forehand game so I use this disc alot. Thrown on a hyzer it well flip put and glide and work it's way straight down a tight fairway as well.

I highly recommend this disc, it's easy to throw and release. And flight is consistent which is rare..

One of my ace discs, this disc has a reliable flight path that does not require a ton of power. It is good for flicks, it needs a certain degree of control and flatness to get the most out of its flight. But with good control I feel the thief offers the opportunity to steal some extra distance!!

I have a 175g Lucid Thief and it has become a staple in my bag. When I first got it, I thought I would really like it because the numbers were 8/5/0/2 and I thought a disc with those numbers would fit my bag well... however, the number for turn is completely wrong. The Turn is about -1.5 to -2. I think this disc has a very comfortable rim, similar to a Convict, and I love the Lucid plastic. For me, this disc is great at hyzer flip straight shots, baby flex shots, slight turnovers. I threw an Escape for quite awhile and loved it but switched to this disc because I wanted something just a little slower that wouldn't glide as far as an Escape- however, this disc does still have a lot of glide, it just won't go as far as my Escape (9 speed). This disc flies a lot like my beat-in Star Teebird but with just a touch more distance. It is now my main technical control/fairway driver for RHBH. I will throw it occasionally RHFH for touch flex flick shots. I only throw about 350 so I'm sure for bigger arms this would be a roller disc. This would be a good beginner disc.

I own the Thief in Biofusion as well as Lucid, Lucid being the more stable of the two. This is my go to distance driver. I have not been playing long so I try and stay below a speed 10 and this is by far my farthest flying disc. Really simple to get a clean release on, the disc hyzer-flips very well and will travel flat for a longtime. The Biofusion model is extremely flippy at this point and works very well for low power throws as well as uphill shots. The Lucid can take a bit more juice but will flip if really cranked. Favorite part of this disc by far is how shallow the rim is. This works very well in my hand and gives clean releases. Love me the Thief.

I have a better forehand then backhand, so I use this disc for most of my backhand drivers or upshots. With a speed 8 I find this disc suitable for my arm speed and can reach 280 to 300 feet. I have two of these discs in my bag at all times and use them a few times each round. If your just starting out and need something more then a mid range and less than a high speed driver I would recommend this fairway driver as a good place to start.

Great disc for both forehand and backhand shots. Numbers should indicate a net-turnover disc though. Once you dial in the flight it's a great, reliable turnover disc.

I don't like this disc.  All it does is turn.  the stability rating is way off. the rating should be more like -1.5  .  This disc can be useful for certain shots but i already have that covered with other better discs.  Really wanted a much straighter flight.  Gave 3 stars because the mold feels nice in the hand.  This would probably be a good disc for avid senior players that don't want to throw their arm out.

The Thief is a really nice disc for new and intermediate level players. I really like the grip, it's a shallow disc, with a blunt outer edge, that makes me think of an Eagle. The PLH is down turned a bit, but still higher than the middle of the wing. The dome isn't high on the lucid I have, but it does exist and give it some glide.

The flight when thrown at a very modest hyzer for me would float out straight and track slightly right before a forward and slight fade that left it just a few feet net to the left. When thrown flat at full power however, it would track right and never found it's way back. It wasn't ever dramatically flippy or uncontrollable, but if you can throw discs in this speed range farther than 350ft you will probably find it slightly under stable.

I think it's a good disc for a lot of players, and feels great to throw.

Fantastic control driver, can easily be manipulated for turnover shots.  Can push some major distance out of this guy with a Hyzerflip.  you can honestly do almost anything you want with this disc through proper modulation.

The Dynamic Discs Thief is the epitome of control. It's not a super-long distance driver, but it does its job in the 300' range. It's not as stable as the Escape, but not nearly as understable as the Witness. The Thief slots between those two and excels at straight shots or shots that need to finish with a slight fade. It seems to be a faster, longer River with a touch more stability.

Power arms will find it slightly understable, while beginners and those with slower arm speeds will find it a bit overstable in weights close to and above 170. As always, you have to find the proper weight for your arm speed and the slot you intend to use this disc for.

The Thief isn't spectacular in the wind, but a max weight in Lucid plastic should perform admirably for those with decent power. I own a Lucid at 165 grams and find it very controllable inside 325 feet. Normal winds do not affect its flight and it has a dependable fade for shot shaping. It's not recommended for turnovers or big-power flex shots, just straight shots with minimal fade or powered-down flex shots.

I also own a BioFuzion at 172 grams. That one is hyzer flip magic. Powered up on a hyzer flip and thrown relatively low, the BioFuzion Thief is a laser that flips up, turns slightly, then fades back to center as it lands. Bigger arms may find it too flippy in this plastic, while mortals will find it perfect for control shots in the 250'-300' range.

I would recommend the Thief in lower weights for beginners and players trying to reach 300' for the first time. If you're looking for a control/fairway driver with a neutral flight, this is what you need.

I got The Thief as part of the trilogy challenge. Unfortunately I got it in a grass-green color, so I haven't thrown it a ton as it takes a long time to find, but it does flight nice. When I give this thing just the right amount of power, it flies how it is listed, but there is a fine line. It tends to flip over too much with a good amount of power. I am a fan of the trilogy plastics but this is probably my least favorite of the 3 in the 2014 trilogy pack.

The Thief, fairway driver offered in the Trilogy Challenge, is a unique disc. I think this disc is PERFECT for new players or slower amed players who want needle straight neutral flight, to maybe a little OS if you're new to the game and or have a slower arm. Now for more advanced players, this disc quickly becomes a controllable hyzer flip machine, and a pretty reliable turnover driver. I definitely recommend this for people who play in heavily wooded course, and that enjoyworking the angles on the disc. This disc is very easy to manipulate, and would be a great disc to learn to hyzer flip with, and learn to throw turnovers. So go out there and get yourself a Thief, and watch it steal the show in the fairways...

Had one of these last year and it didnt get much use. Picked up a Trilogy Challenge one and a Lucid one to give them a run again. Hoping they might be a suitable replacement for the 13 Ace Race Mantis, and I was greatly disappointed.
Lucid is a 171, and TC Biofusion one is 173 I believe.
Thrown flat at about 75% power this thing turns right and does not come back. Forget throwing this thing at full power, it will burn big time.
Thrown with hyzer it will flip up still give you turn and gently come back at the end.
I'm shocked at how much stability this thing lacks for what DD rates this disc at.
I'd rather throw the river for what this thing does, at least you can rely on that disc.

Overall: Great for beginners, controlable driver, but once you get some power you'll want something more stable for sure. I'd go with the escape instead.

Was very impressed with this disc. It's not going to be a tunnel shot disc, but for getting straight down the open fairway this disc hangs with the best of them. Thrown into a head wind it goes dead straight. Or you can crank it for some turn. A nice controlled shot will go really straight with a nice forward fade. This will be in the bag for a while.

I tried this disc in Recycled plastic during the first Trilogy Challenge and I couldn't figure it out at all so I stopped using it half way through. It was WAY too flippy for me to read. Knowing that I had hight hopes for this discs flight number ratings I decided to try the Opto Thief when it was released. This thing is exactly what I've been waiting for to replace my Innova TL: a controllable laser beam. If you rip into this disc full power it will certainly turn a bit when thrown flat but at 70-80% power it still holds a straight line with a sight turn and finishes very straight. Because the disc is so controllable you can make it finish straight, left or right. I immediately kept this disc in the bag after a round with it. I have a bright green 174g mold.
