    Ration Details

Ration plastic from Doomsday Discs is a base-line blend in their Prepper Line of discs. It is similar to other affordable base plastics on the market, like DX or Retro. It is a great choice for putters or for players who want their mids and drivers in a softer blend for different flight characteristics than premium blends.

It's like the Rot was made for me. Seriously: after trying the Big Bead Aviars for a while, I was looking for a putter that had a low, rounded profile, and that was beaded and flat. The Rot ticks all of those boxes. If I had to compare it to another putter, then I would say the Judge is close, but the profile of the Rot is more rounded and symmetric from the shoulder to the bead, which is more comfortable in my hand. Also, the ration plastic is just right for me. It's on the stiff side, but not so stiff that you can't press your thumb into it. It's also slightly tacky, even in wet conditions, but not so tacky that it sticks to your hand. For putting, it's pretty neutral, but has a slight hyzer finish that's reliable. I imagine if you're a spin putter, then it'd be dead straight for you.

Originally, I had just been using the Rot as a putting putter, but I've started throwing it on upshots and even short drives, and it's very straight. I feel really confident hitting gaps with it, and I know that if I power up on it, it will go exactly where I want it to and won't show any signs of turning over, unless I put it on anhyzer.

If you like shallow, flat, round and beaded putters, then you'll like the Rot.

The Rot feels, looks, and flys like a Link. The Rot's bead seems to be just a hair smaller than the Link, and a hair more shallow in depth, but it's difficult to tell a difference. The Ration plastic feels as stiff as Discmania's D-Line flex 2 plastic, but it's a little less grippy.
The Rot is my new choice of putter ?? also I'd like to mention how great my experience has been with Doomsday Discs. They make a great product.

*NOTE* I only give 5-stars out to discs that I bag and throw actively. A 4-star disc is great and may come in and out of the bag for me and I can see another player actively bagging it.

I will be covering both the putting and throwing aspects of the rot. In summary, this is a great controllable putter and is very comfortable in the hand. I was able to throw this in both premium and base plastics. The Ration (base) plastic reminded me a lot of Zero Medium from Latitude, both in feel and durability, while the Isolation (premium) was reminiscent of Innova's newer Champion stuff, or Latitudes Opto. The handfeel is almost like a slightly shallower Judge.

For putting the Rot, was just glidey enough to get to the basket without any real effort, but not too glidey to sail past on airballs. I prefer beaded putters and this was not an exception to the rule. I would classify the bead as medium size as it was noticeable but not huge like on Judge's, PA-3s, or KC Aviars. I would say that the Rot putts similar to all three of the aforementioned discs, but feels more shallow in the hand. It's a little less glidey than the Judge, less stable than PA-3's and more glidey than KC Aviars. Similar, but not the same. Excellent putting putter, but not kicking the PA-3s out of the bag for the remainder of the season. 4/5 stars for putting.

I was really impressed with this disc for throwing. In the Isolation plastic, the Rot was torque-resistant. It's not the glidiest throwing putter out there, but for a throwing putter I am looking for control and consistency. In flight this flies a lot like the Judge, Link or the Tomb. I would say it's not quite as glidey as Judges, Tombs, or Links, but I was still pushing it out to 320'. Not quite as stable as a Halo Alpacas, Neo Links, but very similar to a Lucid Judge. Great throwing putter and this definitely gave my Tombs a run for their money.
