The Land Mine, by Doomsday Discs, is part of the Munitions Line of experimental, unique discs. The Land Mine is an approach putter that has a unique shape with a boxy, blunt leading edge on a thick rim that is wider than most putters. The shape helps to slow down the disc's flight and makes it easy to control with both forehand and backhand throws. This is an ideal approach putter that holds its line and finishes by dropping downward without fading too dramatically. This disc allows you to park it near your desired target without veering off course.

    Weapons Grade Details

Weapons Grade plastic in the Munitions Line from Doomsday Discs is a low-cost, base plastic blend best used on putt and approach discs. It is a stiff blend to hold the disc shape and to better survive the rigors of harsh, futuristic climates. It can get dinged up with vigorous, longterm use, like other base-line plastics. But a plentiful stockpile will help players prepare for the coming doomsday.

I got this on a good sale, looking to flesh out my Doomsday set. This has the thickest outer rim of any disc I've ever thrown or seen, and yet surprisingly, I find it feels really comfortable in the hand and releases cleanly without any difficulty: I expected that it might tend to catch on the tips of my fingers when releasing, but it didn't. I field tested it along with a couple other lid putters I have, and actually find the thicker rim more comfortable than the thinner, standard edges since I don't have to squeeze my fist quite so compactly to get the same firmness in my grip. I get a better sense of control gripping and releasing it, whether throwing or putting.

The numbers seem about right: It standardly ended up a bit short of the 3-glide discs I compared it with, and had a bit of fade near the end, but for the most part a pretty straight-flying disc. If putting, it exhibits more of the listed 0-Turn, 2-Fade; when throwing farther, the added speed on the 2-speed disc will make its Turn/Fade ratio seem a tad less stable. Other putters might be better as throwing putters (I really like Doomsday's Bleak), because they can provide more distance. The shape, weight, and grippiness of the plastic should make this a reliable putter for all experience levels. It might be a bit less user friendly as a throwing putter for beginners, but all-in-all, a solid choice for putter. As mentioned by others, the plastic type is more prone to getting dinged up and doesn't come in other options, so that's my knock against the Landmine.

This disc is a lot of fun. When I did a side by side comparison with this and the berg I found this to be even less glidey than the berg.  I liked it for spin putting because the disc is larger than your average putter so it is more likely to make contact with the chains and it's so non-glidey that it also drops very fast if you miss.I played a full round with only this disc and actually played really well with it on the first 12 baskets, but it seemed to be getting beat up and less reliable in the second half of the round. My max throw with this was about 180. It goes very straight with just a little fade at the end.  It will hold a hyzer or a hyzer very well. It doesn't fight out of anything that you put it on. I honestly would highly recommend this disc if it was just more durable. Even putting was taking chips out of it if I missed high or low.  I had a few collisions with trees but none were the kind of hits that I would expect to damage the disc, but this thing was crushed by the end of the round.  I recommend getting the depth charge instead. It throws the same, is a ton of fun, but it is higher quality plastic.

This is kind of a novelty. I bought it because I wanted to try a no glide round.  It was a lot of fun to throw. It's very straight with a slight fade at the end. It has no glide at all.  For comparison I can throw the zone os, berg, and range 200'. My max throw with this disc with a tail wind was 180.'  It is pretty hard to push out with this disc. It spin puts really nice though. If you miss your mark it gets to the ground fast enough that it's still closer to the basket than when you started.  My only gripe with it is the durability. I compared the land mine and the depth charge side by side and brand new, I prefer the land mine, but it has no durability at all.  By the end of the round it went from being a no glide slightly overstable approach disc to being very unpredictable by the end of the round. The depth charge feels too floppy for my liking, but that floppiness made it significantly more durable. It flew true all the way through the round and finished still looking mostly new. The land mine on the other hand had dents, gouges and a collapse in the rim by the end.

The Land Mine is an oddly shaped disc, but the flight is nothing too crazy.  It has a very thick and chunky rim that takes some getting used to but there's nothing uncomfortable about it.  Don't let the brick-like design fool you, the disc actually comes out of the hand cleanly and has decent glide.  It's not super-overstable, it has some fade but since the glide is pretty low it tends to stay on the line and get to the ground before fading too much.  For its price the base plastic seems pretty good, it has nice grip and some give to it.  My main issue with the disc is that I haven't figured out how best to use it.  I actually wish it were more overstable so that it would fight out of slight anhyzer forehand shots, which is what I often like to throw for approaches.  I prefer the Depth Charge, it's a little more comfortable (and the Collapse plastic is awesome) and my Depth Charge is a little more overstable than the Land Mine so I like it better for forehand approaches.

Super fun and unique disc! Coming from an Ultimate background I love trying out different styles of slow "catch" type discs. The Land Mine is unique in how square and oversized it is, but it's a super straight, low glide approach disc that loves to sit right by the basket!

This is absolutely by far the most thrown disc in my bag. I love it!!! Also I have yet to play on a card that someone hasn't said something about the disc because it's so unique! Definitely my favorite disc in my bag and a good conversation starter. BUCKET LID!

Love this disc, flys pretty straight for most of the flight with a gentle fade at the end, weird but good grip and can handle torque well for its speed

Flight is a slightly longer berg. Feel is weird.  This disc is a lot of fun.  It hasn't kicked the berg out yet.  However I feel like I could leave my k3 berg at home and throw almost the same shots with this.  It is not a stable disc but I would at it is slight more stable than my berg.

I enjoy this disc tremendously. Weird shape, yet it throws so smoothly. I'm an intermediate player with decent arm-speed. It flies very straight with a predictable fade. The grip is odd to be sure, but even as someone with medium-sized hands, I find it strangely comfortable to throw. Plastic is cheap and will ding up and scratch really easily but hey, it's a $10 disc that will pin you under the basket from 150-200 feet out.

Got this disc with the RIP California stamp, the coolest stamp in existence. Beyond the stamp, this disc is the real deal Holyfield. True to the numbers, impossible to get a bad grip in any conditions, and incredibly controllable. I'm not bagging it consistently yet but this disc is making me question everything I thought I know about approach discs.

I picked one of these up because I really like this path Doomsday is taking creating unique stuff. This disc is as big as some mids and has the most square wing I think I've ever grabbed into. At times, it's a little uncomfortable but, I was liking forehand a lot. The beefy rim seems to hold its shape with a lot of power. The flight reminded me of a Rhyno a little. The plastic does get chunked up pretty quickly. I wont bag it but, definitely throw it here and there. For the price, why not check one out?

If you are a fan of the berg or are looking for a disc to fill that slot, this is it. Although this disc is an absolute mutant, I find it more comfortable in the hands than the berg. No matter how hard you throw the land mine it pretty much behaves the same; it will fly dead straight and fall out of the sky with a touch of fade. Because it is so neutral it is great for shot shaping and approach shots. I use it for backhand and forehand approaches and straight drives in the wind. The only con is the plastic. It is super grippy but it does beat in quickly. Despite the obvious wear on my disc the flight has remained relatively unaffected. If you are looking for a unique disc that has a lot of utility when approaching, give the land mine a try.

Such a strange disc, honestly kind of feels like a lid. So if you're coming from an Ultimate Background this is might be a good stable approach disc to look at. At low distance <200 feet it behaves like a Berg with a touch more fade

I absolutely love throwing this disc. I bought it on a whim for its unique rim shape and low low price, but wow has it been fun to throw. It glides a bit longer than I was expecting and fits way better into my hand than I thought it would. If it wasn't so significantly larger than your average putter I might use it for putting. Though it has a pretty dependable fade, one thing to look out for is turning it over too much with a little power on it-- it can roll away on you, and sometimes even stands up on the flat and rolls quite a ways. I haven't gotten them out into the field yet, but would love to work on harnessing that roller power. One thing it doesn't really do is skip-- as long as it doesn't roll it will usually fizzle out pretty quick once it hits the ground.

This is an incredibly unique disc. I got it in a tournament from winning a CTP, thought it would be fun to throw around and was shocked when I learned this disc is actually pretty good. If you want an approach disc that doesn't go too far and flies perfectly on whatever line you put on it, look no further.

Ok, I'll be the first to admit I bought it purely because the absurd look, but this things a killer. It takes very little effort to send this thing on a consistent straight line with good glide and finish. It sits well and is surprisingly fun for forehand approaches.

Awesome disc when available. The flight path is exactly described in diagram provided. Good glide and very little roll at least for me.

I bought this disc as a whim of supporting small business. Pleasantly surprised with the performance of this disc. I have a few doomsday discs in my cart. drivers will give a roll at times.

For me, this thing flies like a shorter buzzz and sits pretty well where it lands. Seems a bit more glidey than 2. It's in the bag for now.
