The Alpas, by Divergent Discs, is a very unique putt and approach disc made in flexible silicone rubber material that Divergent calls StayPut. The disc will more successfully "stay put" when it hits the ground, reducing unfortunate skips and slides. It can be used as an understable approach disc to get through tight fairways without needing to throw hard. Or, it can be used as a putter for players who like a shallow rim and a flat disc profile. It is a great choice as an all-around starter disc for new players, as well as a specialty disc for experienced players.

Used it for 2 yrs without plastic problem. I throw it on approach shots with steep heiser and it usually sticks where it hits, only rolled one or two times on steep hills

    Love the Alpas!
My go to approach for 60-120ft.
I throw these as a tomahawk and they stick.
My buddy loves these too, so I know they rock!!

Interesting disc. I have used this disc as a driver , Mid and putter.. no roll when landing.

Unfortunately, disc did came apart and returned to manufacturer for evaluation but they did replace disc.

Very interesting disc from Divergent. The plastic blend is some of the bendiest... you can taco this disc. That said, it holds lines surprisingly well considering how awkward it (personally) feels in the hand. The floppiness tends to make me under/overestimate shots, and makes drives feel a little off leaving the hand.

YMMV, but it's for those reasons I don't normally bag this disc, and can only give it 4 stars. It's a very cool concept, and I'm sure if I spent more time learning the disc I'd give it another look.

This disc takes a few throws to get use to throwing a Silicon disc. I did manage to get really good throws for distance and for Hyzer. I used this disc for Distance , Midrange and Putting. I found that the heavier the disc, better the straight ahead distance. This disk is cool for me to use on certain short courses. Those starting out playing disk golf, this might be worth as a training disc to develop throw.

    New player review....

This disc is cool.  For me, I am able to hyzer flip this disc well and get a beautiful S-curved flight out of it.  Even though it's a speed 4, I often throw this farther than some of my 5 speed mid-ranges.  I find this disc to glide pretty well.  I'll also bring this out of the bag and putt it on an anhyzer for those up hill approach or close-to-hazard basket putts.

In my experience it does as advertised.  It hits the ground and stays there.  I'm playing in mostly wooded course and it seems to stop really quickly despite the leaf litter and pine straw.  For me, I think this disc has a place among my mid ranges and my go-to hyzer flip.

One draw back is that the silicone holds onto sand and dirt, so it needs a pretty significant wipe down after each throw.  I guess that is the nature of the material, but it's worth mentioning.  All in all I think this is a really cool offering.

This is a very low profile putter. The flight is pretty straight with a little bit of low speed fade and it can get quite flippy when thrown with full power but still likes to fight out of it. It seems like there is not a lot of glide to this disc which makes it good for wind putting.

Pros: Great grip and truly stays put when it hits the ground. I have had very few roll away's with this disc. It is very point and shoot straight and goes where you tell it to.

Cons: The disc itself is quite flimsy in the hand so it takes a while to get the hang of throwing it on a repeatable release point.

The Alpas Is the stiffest rubber disc I've felt (minus vibram) significantly more so than either offering from Elevation Discs. This IMO makes it the best throwing disc of them all die to the nose angle being easier to control. It is basically an Innova Mirage made of rubber. Very shallow and will flip at the tiniest bit of power.

I'd be skeptical of the promise of no roll always because it is relatively stiff, it can and will happen, maybe with just less regularity.

This disc does exactly what you would expect. For the most part, it flops on throws and has very minimal ground play. I have played multiple rounds with the disc on hilly New England courses and have only had one roll away - and that was barely. I am used to multiple roll away's in a single round, at times, on one of these courses. So, yes it is much better at eliminating those rollers after you hit a basket, but a roll away is still a limited possibility.

Now to the disc. I have never thrown anything like it. It feels like a toy for my dog. The understability is no joke. I didn't realize until now that it was labeled a -5 and I agree that it might be close. Way more understable than anything I have thrown. Any power, no matter what hyzer angle you choose, will result in significant turn - possibly leading to a roller. I am hoping I can figure out a technique that allows me to throw a little harder, but even if I can't figure it out, I still use the disc in many ways. Also, the glide pretty good. Even with a soft throw, it often remains in the air longer than I anticipate.

I use it a lot for C2 putts and anything that could possibly turn into a roll away. I have made some nice putts outside C1 and inside C1 I feel about as confident as my primary putter at this point. It has definitely saved me some strokes. I have made putts that, without this disc, would have been laid up next to the basket without an attempt. Overall, it is odd, but I love it and see myself using it a lot. I don't think I would use it on every course, but my courses have multiple baskets on hillsides and this disc/toy is great.

I got this disc through the mystery check box at checkout and was very impressed. I've thrown a cryzstal flx magnet for YEARS! I may be changing now to the alpas. The glide on this disc is incredible. It does feel odd at first being shallow and floppy. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

I thought I was going to get a disc that sticks when it hits, but that is not always the case with the "StayPut." I would recommend this disc for beginners looking to better their forehand shot.

I really wanted this to be the perfect solution to the overly floppy issues that Kois have, but unfortunately wasn't the case. It's much sturdier and stiff than the elevation plastic, but, comes with the other side effects. It bounces like crazy and skips like a regular plastic disc. The one use I found for it is a spike hyzer approach shot that *hopefully* won't roll.

This disc is weird in the best way possible. Jumping onto the rubber-disc train was a good move, particularly with how well Elevation is doing with their Koi. I found lots of success putting with these discs, particularly into lighter-chained baskets and from C2. I would not drive with these discs, as they are pretty understable when thrown at high-speeds. When thrown at low speeds, these discs will fade consistently at the end of the flight, making it great for just dropping into the basket. Great disc, and I'm definitely keeping it in my bag forever.

Sorry pilot but this is my new putter. If it hits the chains it's falling in. Predictable slow speed fade with decent glide. Ultra durable. Banged chains (and a few cages) and zero sign of wear. Grip is excellent and feels very comfortable in my hand. This thing sticks wherever it hits so feel free to run that putt. As others stated it's not a great idea to throw with much power. But unless you are sponsored there is no reason to throw any other disc inside of circle 2. Get one and start watching your scores drop.

I was very surprised by this disc when I first received it. The profile is very thin which makes holding the disc a little awkward compared to your typical disc. I bag a Koi disc, but this Alpass has definitely taken its place.

I nailed the basket on my very first approach throw with this disc from 85 ft. I find that this rubber is stiffer than the koi which gives you a bit more confidence throwing it from much further away outside circle 2.

I would not recommend this as a driving putter. As my first and only attempt from The tee box I found that the disc turns very easily when thrown with force.

I definitely recommend this disc and I believe this might be my primary putter.

I absolutely love the Alpas for its intended purpose as an approach disc that isn't going to skip or roll away. I also enjoy using the Alpas for long putts where I don't want to have to have a long comeback putt if I miss. Compared with the the Elevation discs, the StayPut plastic is a lot stiffer and in my opinion, easier to throw.

My main disc golf course has several holes with baskets perched on the side of hills. On these holes, the last thing you want to do is have your disc miss, roll all the way down, and then have to re put from a farther distance. With the Alpas, I can be confident that my disc is going to stay where it hits.

My disc golf cart has long held a Vibram Super Soft Summit for the "stay put" shot, but since that disc is no longer available the Alpas will replace that.

This disc has a super low profile and very shallow rim which I like.

In terms of flight, the Alpas is unique. If you throw it with some power it is quite understable at high speeds. But, even though it is a "putt and approach" disc, it has a significant amount of end of flight fade, more like a midrange than a putter. I'm comfortable throwing the Alpas with control at distances up to about 200 feet. I typically throw it at a hyzer angle and love the fact that when it hits the ground it will just splat and land in its place. When thrown at a hyzer angle this disc is vey consistent.

Overall, if you need a super soft "stay put" approach disc that looks great, you need a Divergent Discs Alpas.

This disc is pretty crazy. Even as a Beginner this disc will completely turn over for me. Most of the time it turns into a roller and that is a first for me. The reason for the 5 stars is for two reasons.

    1. The disc does what it says it does. Stayput plastic, stays put which is what I was looking for as the course I play has a few holes where the basket is on the edge of a hill with a pretty steep downhill slope. Not as soft as the Koi (which is hard to find) but feels softer to me than the Wizard SSS.  I also like the rim depth as it is not to deep (pretty thin) for me personally and feels better than the Wizard in that regard (to me at least).

    2. I have found that if I throw this disc at a slower speeds, it shows me my angle of release better than any other disc I have thrown before. I am now using it as a fantastic disc to practice my release angles with. Plus the phrase I keep hearing "smooth equals distance" is getting worked on as I am being forced to slow down everything (I found I was trying to crush every throw too hard, trying to eek out extra distance and was losing distance as my form would go all wonky, get stiff, start rounding and be filled with jagged/jerky movements, so I had been recently trying to slow down. This disc during practice forces me to do just that, slow down and try to throw smooth) from my X step, to my reach back and then release or it will not stop turning over/turn into a roller.

All in all a fantastic sit down putter and I feel a great training disc to work with.

This disc is really understable at higher speeds. I was trying to make some longer tight corner upshots with it. It will take some getting used to but on the plus side I used it several times on some loose side hills where I didn't want it to skip or role away. I will keep it in my bag for certain shots and work on putting with it.
