A couple months ago my grandad brought me to get a disc.I picked the surge ss.The next day I went out to a course and tried it.I did not like it at all.Now I love it.I throw it on forehands and backhands alike.I love it for turnover shots trusting it will come back.I also use it for staple shots. The plastic fits perfectly for the disc because it makes it wonderful for long throws and then a big skip.I use it when I have to bend it around a tree if there's a mando.I can throw it 275ft on normal days.It is a very underrated disc.If you haven't thrown it you should definitely throw it.You will definitely like it.

I few months ago, I borrowed my Dad's disc golf bag to play a round.  He had mostly Discraft stuff, so I got to try a lot of new discs.  My favorite by far was the Surge SS.  Speed 11 discs are usually the fastest discs that I'm able to get a full flight on.  With a Wraith being the only speed 11 disc I had thrown before, the Surge SS was a revelation.  The Surge SS was able to throw any type of shot I needed from a driver that day, and I ended up using it on almost every hole.  I could throw hyzers, hyzer flips to flat, S shots, and anhyzers that held through the entire flight.  The Z plastic felt great in the hand and barely showed any wear from many earlier round of use.  I hope to get my own Surge SS soon.

The Z Surge SS is an extremely underrated disc in the Discraft lineup. It's definitely more beginner friendly than the Surge, and will hold a nice straight line if you throw about 300'. For more advanced players it's a great out of the box hyzer flip driver. With a bit of anhyzer this disc will make a great long distance roller. Being an 11 speed driver this disc is very controllable in the woods In other plastics this disc is noticeably more understable.

I really like my Surge SS, and I’ve bagged one for years. It’s a great backhand disc for navigating through the woods and has a consistent, straight flight path when thrown correctly. My primary use for the Surge SS is anhyzer forehands. When thrown hard, this disc flies forever on a soft anny. Forehand players could benefit from bagging this bad boy!

I tested out a 173g FLX Surge SS and it flew nicely.  On a slight hyzer it flipped up flat, flew straight, and had late low speed fade. In my hand it felt comfy. Not too wide but enough width to have confidence it'll get up to speed. It is slightly deeper than I expected,  but I prefer that. I did give it a tick less glide than a standard 5 glide. It just seemed to lack the glide of a 5 speed but I still got out to 350 pretty easily. I also think I may have lost some spin speed since the FLX plastic is very gummy.

I tright it on forehand shot and it flipped up & turned left on RHFH shot.

The Surge SS is a really nice stable flying distance driver. This disc felt really comfortable in hand as the rim isn't stupid wide like many distance drivers out there today. This disc was still getting some great distance even though its not as fast as others. This disc flew really straight for me with a hint of turn and a solid fade back at the end. I imagine this would be plenty stable for newer players. If other distance drivers seem a little fast, this might be the disc to try.

I haven't thrown one of these in awhile because I lost my one and only but I enjoyed the disc while I had it.

If I was a little more advanced, this would be a great disc. I am still working on form and generating power, and that keeps me from getting the advertised line, but I do get a repeatable fade with this disc that you'd expect from someone who lacks power. I find the disc to be comfortable as well.

I dont' like Discraft's practice of adding SS or OS to a popular disc to name it.  It's not only confusing, but really they have gone too far when, for example, you think the Nuke SS and the Nuke and the NUke OS will be similar. Those 3 discs are really very different. end of rant.

and I have to admit that the Surge and Surge SS are pretty similar, and perhaps the naming thing is somewhat accurate and acceptable in this case...

this Surge SS is a pretty awesome driver. It's stable and allows me control, confidence, and forgiveness that few other discs offer. It will hold a long anny. With enough altitude, it will fade out predictably.  Straight, hyzer flip (if you have the power), turning shots are all on tap with this driver.

New ones fade pretty hard, but once seasoned, these are very useful for tight lines and you can work almost any shot. I am a big fan. I've since tried a number of discraft drivers and like this one the best.

I love this disc i found it on my local course a year ago and i have used it ever since i can throw almost any shot i want with it. It will always fade back and only turns over if i throw it literally as hard as i can

I love this disc! It flys like a wraith but with less fade. The rim feels good. If your arm speed is in the 10-11 speed range and want a little turn. This is a great driver.

This is my favorite driver for any distance. I particularly rely on this disc in any wind, especially headwind. One can manipulate how much turn/flex you desire, it flies straight as an arrow and fairs well for moderate hyzer lines.

The disc feel is exceptional, the fade isn't as massive as most fast drivers. Even after getting beaten in a bit, my SurgeSS is still incredibly straight flying and reliable. Also, crazy power is great for this disc as well, both BH and FH. It fairs well at all speeds.

Not a ton of experience with the Surge SS, but what I've seen I love. Very good, straight driver. Not a ton of high speed turn and almost no late fade. Great glide. The Surge SS just seems to defy gravity and will fly as far as just about any other driver given a good rip and some height. Good disc for beginners looking for faster, longer drives too. Comparable to a faster Sidewinder.

I'm an Innova and Dynamic Discs kind of guy and really haven't had much experience with many of Discraft's products other than the Avenger SS and the Stalker. I personally didn't  care for either of those two molds too much, but the Surge SS is a pleasure to throw. It cuts through the air with ease. I throw RHBH and compare the flight path to a more stable, and ultimately more predictable Innova Roadrunner. This disc encouraged me to keep trying to better my form and approach when I really was hitting a plateau when it came to learning how to drive. It got me out of a slump and got my confidence up to try new things. A great addition to the bags of novice players and seasoned vets alike.

This is my go to driver because of its predictable flight.  I'm not not getting 400 feet out of it like the flight chart says, but I get a reliable flight pattern and distance out of it every time.  The Elite Z plastic holds its stability really well.

I love the surge and thought I'd give the surge ss a try. It's an excellent disc as well. Doesn't hook at the end as much as the surge and I can typically throw it a bit farther than the surge. Nothing to get to excited over though.

Surge SS is BUTTAH! Sidearm distance with it about 300-350 every time. So predictable when it comes to turn and fade, I don't need to watch the flight to know where it will land. Perfect companion to bridge the gap between my flat dx surge and pop top z surge. Great beginner driver!
