Great neutral to somewhat US approach disc. Mine is not as US as the numbers say. More like a -2, 0.5 turn and fade on decent power throws. It feels very similar to a Zone, which is why I think its a great US compliment to the Zone. If the Zone forehand flick isn't gonna quite cut the line you need, maybe backhand with a Sol will. It's a great disc.

Great for approaches and shorter drives. ESP has a predictable fade at the end of flight, even in spite of its understability.

This disc is perfect for wooded courses, tight fairways, and long slow turnover shots that require finesse. This mid-range is a workhorse and will do all sort of shapes. Big hyzer flip to flat and glide for days. Slight hyzer flip to flat to a soft turnover that WILL NOT come back. Or flat out of the hand, and then a hard, yet consistent, turn to the right.
It feels great in the hand, and the ESP plastic is dynamite.

Looking for an understable fairway, I came across this one when all the others I had tried, failed.  This works really well for me!

For some reason, the shallow rim works with this disc (I don't normally like a shallow rim), and I can throw this on a hyzer flip that goes dead straight for a long ways.  A great disc to learn different types of throws and a nice disc for touch approach shots.

The discraft Sol is my go to midrange disc. I learned how to hyzer flip with it and also how to shape shots using an under stable disc. Its perfect for woods golf and also for very straight shots once you learn how to control the right angles. It has many uses and it fills a few different shots in my bag. I recommend everyone have one or a disc like it. The ESP plastic is also very comfortable and the disc isn't super deep so its very comfortable in the hand.

This review is for a very lightweight older version of the Sol from the 2018 Acr Race. It feels almost like Gstar by Innova. This is one of the main reasons I LOVE this disc. It doesn't feel like normal ESP plastic, which I pretty much despise. It has more grip and is far more flexible. Some of my favorite Discraft plastic by far!

As far as its flight characteristics, it's a great understable mid that when thrown flat even at medium speeds will give you some nice turn without just rolling over into a roller. It's a very useful and capable disc, but like many undrstable discs is a bit more touchy. It would be a great disc for beginners or those with slower arms and even with not so great form as it will help give more of a full flight if thrown nose up. If you lack a forehand, this might be a great option for you in the woods. It has good glide as well!

All in all, as I say, just about every disc can be useful, and a lot of it comes down to personal preference. For me, I have to choose which understable mid I'm going to keep in my bag. It's either this, the Warrant, or the paradox. Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions....

Solid Forehand disc for me, I like to use it for low power straight shots. It also shares my name, so there's a plus.

I really like this disc; it is maneuverable and good at making tricky shots in tight quarters. It is my go-to disc for a solid forehand hyzer flip. My only complaint is that it cant handle a ton of torque.

Very easy and controllable turnovers that hold the line without fading back. Power down and you are rewarded with a short, but dead straight shot. This is a must-have disc for scrambling. The easily accessible turn has saved me countless strokes out of the ruff. A good disc for beginners to learn angle control.

I would give this 6 stars if I could.

The sol is such an easy disc to throw and learn with and as you improve, you'll find that it's a great approach disc. It's a tweener p&a / midrange, and where it shines is between 100-200' and complements the Discraft Zone well. Need an anny line? Check. Need a short gentle hyzer line that would be too drastic with a zone? Check. Need a laser straight ground hugging hyzerflip? Check. All of these are effortless throws with this disc. The sol and zone make an epic pairing, and between the two, I think I rely on the sol a touch more.

Very understable midrange. Too understable for my liking, I struggle to get this disc to do anything other than go right. Sol has an almost putter like feel, very slow and glidey. Definitely more than -2 turn.

If you are just starting to play this game this might be the disc for you, I've given one of my two ace race discs to a brand new player and she keeps it straighter than any other disc she tried, even a Buzzz was diving hard left pretty quick.

I got this from Infinite, and played a few rounds with it and I absolutely in love with this disc. I like flippy discs and this is very much like a putter version of the Comet. Its a Midrange but it's a 4 speed midrange/putter tweener disc. It has a putter-like rim, and its as much of a putter as a Zone. Its flat and shallow and I would consider this the US opposite of a Zone.

A zone is a 4 speed also, and marked as a Putter. but this is very similar but US.

It's very controllable and easy to hyzerflip for some great distance. Its really glidey compared to the numbers. definitely a good glide.

I lost my putter mid round in some water due to a rollaway, but this did triple-duty and I used it for putting and it was marvelous. I plan to get this in Pro-D or Jawbreaker if it comes out in those as my primary putter. But it putts pretty good in ESP, just rolls and skips a lot.

Absolutely my new favorite disc. I would compare this to a baby comet, or a comet with a putter rim (if you believe a comet is a 4 speed vs a 5 speed). I would also compare it to a Axiom Theory in Neutron plastic but glidier. I would say this can compete with a Comet in your bag, but can also bag both as the comet can go further (since i believe it's a 5 speed midrange).

Didn’t get to play in an Ace Race this year but did get hooked up with the SoL. It is an awesome touch/approach/anny/wooded tunnel shot disc. You can throw it like a frisbee and it will hold whatever line you put it on. Don’t try and throw this like a normal mid because it can’t take the torque, but when you finally throw it correctly you’ll put it in the bag for those tightly wooded upshots and long approach putts that require a bit more than a putter. I love this sucker.

This disc is certainly flippy but very controllable.   Flat release results in a short straight push to a steady right turn.  Varying hyzer angles let's you form how straight or right you want the finish. The plastic feels grippy and flexible but seems to get beat up a lot easier than elite x, I'll be happy to see the production run especially in elite z.

great disc for beginners, as most understable mids are. Doesnt take much power or snap to get this disc flying, more experienced players need to dial it back or make sure they have a super smooth release otherwise this disc just flips and thats the end. I couldnt get this disc to hyzer flip fairly consistently, got it to finish on a hyzer a couple times when I slowed it down and gave it some height, but really enjoyed it for turnover lines. This disc held some on the smoothest annies outside of my beat up wizard. The turn was about as predictable as the fade on a more stable disc, and thus could be thrown to the left of the basket with enough room to work back right

I played an Ace Race last weekend, and I loved this disc. Of course it's flippy.  It's supposed to be. I don't have a big arm, and was able to get it to flip up and cruise at a wide range of speeds.  If I had to compare it to another disc, it would probably be a Gateway Shaman, as far as feel and flight. Very slim and comfortable, and the ESP plastic was both grippy and durable.  As for the people calling it useless and too flippy, just power it down or put  it on a bigger hyzer angle. My buddy crushed this disc out to 350+ before our ace race on a nasty hyzer flip, so I think it can find a way into anyone's bag, novice through advanced.  For Discraft throwers, it feels like a Zone but flies like a 4 speed Heat. I can't wait until it goes into production, and hopefully in Jawbreaker plastic!

The 2018 Ace Race disc seemed to be a nice straight flyer for low power shots.  After the Ace Race I was curious about how these would fly with some power behind them.  They don't handle power very well at all.  I tried them on different lines and different amounts of hyzer and each time it would just flip and roll.  Thrown at about 60% power on a hyzer flip, they stood up, turned and they landed soft.  Where these discs really shine is how well they hold an anhyzer line.  Throw high enough and hard and they just hold the line and keep turning to the right.  This blend of ESP plastic did seem less durable and softer than the normal ESP.  Great beginner disc but it's not much more than that.

This might as well be a paper plate. The 2018 Ace race disc is definitely designed for beginners. It has a extremely short profile to it with a microbead it's very comfortable to grip backhand and forehand. I got mine as close to 180 as I could get.

This disc is ungodly understable even a total noodle arm will get this disc turning over. Without taking a spike angle with a fan grip i could not get this disc to hyzer out for me it flips and finishes to the right. It's grip forehand is great and you can put it on a hyzer throw it soft and have it flip to flat and start turning. A flat release would result in a roller for anyone with moderate armspeed. What this disc IS good for outside of the realm of beginners is scrambling. This disc can be thrown with almost no power from a patent pending stance and it will fly pretty well. It can also hold a forehand anhyzer quite well from a tight space if there is no other way out.

This disc is not made for headwinds, it glides well and would prefer a tailwind if anything.

This disc is fantastic for beginners it will go where you want it to even if you don't have good form. You can easily hand this disc to someone who never played but might have ultimate/catch experience and they will very easily take to throwing it.

Overall this disc isn't really intended for someone like me, it's for the new players out  there, or the people who don't throw far and need that woods scalpel of a midrange. While it is not useful for me I have put it into my loaner bag and everyone who has tried it really liked it.
