The Scorch is a great flippy control driver. It's good for intermediate player and might be good for beginners with a faster arm speed. It has a lot of glide with a good amount of turn and fade. It's great for hyzer-flip shots.

The Scorch is a great disc for backhand distance. A very reliable flight path with consistent finish. Somewhat understable as far as getting the disc to S turn and still have a reliable fade at the end. It's a nice step up from the Hades but not as overstable as a Zeus. Great distance, feel and reliability are what makes the Scorch a great choice for most players, no matter the skill level.

This is my go to driver for flip to flat distance drives. I would say when the disc is beat in, it flies true to its ratings. It turns nicely and has reliable fade at the end. Perfect for carving wooded fairways. It also gets easy distance on a forehand for someone who may not have as much torque. Great disc!

My Scorch is a great versatile distance driver, being very workable for hyzer flips and long turning shots. That being said, it's been a little unreliable for me lately. My only gripe on the disc is that as it beats in, it gets flippy FAST. The early high-speed turn sometimes is a little finicky and can be a little harder to utilize than some of my other understable drivers. It does work great as a roller when older, or as a beat-up Wraith out of the box!

the massive glide on this disc is what makes it my go to driver when I need tons of distance and wind is a minimal factor for an 11 speed you can really get this disc out there. on hyzer flip it will fly dead straight and hit 400-425 and  getting a full flight out of it will get you just shy of the 500 foot range. it is by far my longest throwing driver. maybe I just don't have the arm speed for 12s and higher but for me I can't even touch the distance I get with this disc with any of the other 150+ drivers I own. it is however very susceptible to wind and will turn over very easily if thrown improperly or if the wind gets under it.

I got a 172 ESP scorch and it's definitely a bomber. That being said, it's not reliable in a headwind at all, but for calm days or tailwind shots it's fun to put some air under it and watch it glide. I'd be interested to try a Z line scorch because I keep hearing that they're more stable so it might be better for cycling.

If I were rating solely on fun, it would be 5 stars, but unfortunately there's only limited space in my bag and I need to carry discs that work for the shots I need to throw. I'll probably stick to wraiths and destroyers but if you want a fun disc to throw or you need some easy distance I'd consider a scorch.

Man where do I start? This disc is amazing! Out of the box it flies like a beat in destroyer or dd3. As you beat it in it'll get to the point where you can throw it flat and watch it turn before slowly panning out and landing flat. A great disc for when you don't want to sacrifice accuracy but get the distance you need!

Just got a new ESP Scorch and it's great for straight flying shots and slight turnovers. Throw it flat and it will drift right, but always finish left (w/ RHBH). Great disc!

Two stars may be a bit harsh but I'm grading against similar disks.  I know some people love it.  For me there are some issues imo.  The grip and disc shape/bead make this less comfortable for me.  I do have somewhat larger hands so maybe smaller hands would like it.

Next, when you turn this thing it keeps going more than it should by numbers.  I don't have a huge arm, around 400' max.  Finally, the result of the flight is just ok on a clean throw.  This comes in much shorter than the Grace and Sword for me.  I think the glide is overstated.

    Disc - 173 ESP Scorch

Feel - The scorch has a very interesting feel in the hand. If you have ever felt a heat, it feels very similar in the hand but with a wider rim. It has the same interesting bead type thing on the bottom side of the rim but does not make a huge difference in my opinion. The rim is a nice width and feels good for both forehands and backhands. The disc I have has a small dome and that seems consistent with the others that I have felt. The disc I have is ESP, but I have thrown some of the first run Z Scorchs and they are quite a bit more stable than my ESP

Flight - The Scorch is a tick more stable than the Heat. It also has a bit more fade than the heat but overall I would compare it to a faster heat. I think the heat is a great distance driver/control driver especially in the woods for average arms but for slower arms that are wanting to try out a distance driver, the scorch could be a great first step in the distance driver market.

This disc has become my go to bomber driver. I'm rated 875 and I throw this on most holes not in a headwind.  I can throw it up to 375 and I'm mostly all arms.  The ESP plastic was everything I was missing compared to the first run Z and the stock Z. Those both IMO have more stability then the ESP. The ESP flies just like the flight numbers and chart says.  In a headwind though, this disc will flip. So if you can control your angles than bombs away!!

First of all, this review is for the Z line plastic. It wasn't available as an option to review at the time of this entry.

The Scorch like many other Discraft discs is a nice disc, but is much more stable than the flight numbers would suggest. Maybe I am just used to the Trilogy numbers, but with a -2, I would expect this disc to get some turn on it when thrown hard (I'm a 937 rated player). However, I can really throw this at full power and get very little to no turn. It does have good glide, I'll give it that! But with more like a 0 turn, I have a hard time giving this disc any higher than a 4 star review as it just doesn't fly like the numbers suggest.

    I LOVE THIS DISC.

    Throw: RHBH

    Plastic: ESP

    Weight: 170g

This disc is amazing. It will turn right and fade back left, giving slower arm speeds the perfect S shape throw. I am still working on getting the most distance out of it, but I am getting about 320' everytime (which is a long way for me).

Highly recommend. Trust worthy on calm days. I wouldn't trust it with a head wind.

I got a Scorch in ESP plastic a couple of months ago. My first couple of backhand throws followed the flight numbers exactly, and I loved it for controlled distance shots. However, it didn't take long before the disc became super flippy. I would throw a flat backhand with 80% power, and the disc would immediately turn and cut roll when it hit the ground. I was about to take the scorch out of my back entirely, but I decided to try long backhand turnover shots, hyzer flips, and rollers and found that this disc was great for all three of those shots.

While I still usually will go for the Avenger SS for a backhand turnover shot or a roller, the Scorch still is a good disc if I want a little more distance.

For reference I usually throw my 11 speeds around 400 feet. 've now thrown the first run Z line and ESP plastics for this mold. First impressions after a couple months:

Z line started glidey with zero turn and hefty fade when thrown with 90% power. My release is naturally on hyzer and I was unable to fully flip-to-flat. I could see this being useful for windy days.

ESP showed it's flight numbers right out of the box. Given 80% power, this disc flips to flat, rides straight, turns gently but noticeably and fades moderately. I've been blowing past my usual Wraith landing zones by 20-30 feet when I connect on my drives with the Scorch. For slower arm speeds, I imaging this would be a great max distance driver that one could learn to really rip on. For faster arm speeds, this disc is an absolute bomber for light wind/tailwind scenarios. I personally wouldn't throw this disc into a headwind unless I wanted a strong left to right turn (RHBH)

Overall, I am loving this disc for near full-power hyzer flip drives that bend through gaps and land back on the center of my line.
