The Mantis is a reliable fairway driver that was originally released as the 2013 Ace Race disc in Titanium plastic. This disc provides a straight flight path, comfortable feel, and excellent glide. The later runs have a lower profile and it is slightly more domey to make it easier to control with additional glide.

As you may have heard from some of the reviews, this disc as the original Ace Race was money, maybe flew 8/5/0/2. Then for some reason they made the production a more understable, hyzer-flip or 75% woods disc. Each mold has its function, but you should know the differences between the two going in so that you aren't disappointed.

The exception to the production models comes in the Cryztal Sparkle plastic, and that's what I'm reviewing. This disc is truly "stable" in that it can handle some headwind and some oomph in your throw. I recommend it as a Discraftian teebird with perhaps a touch more glide.

I see that a lot of people really liked this disc as it was made for the ace race, nice and stable.

It would appear that they ran the crystal sparkles in the ace race configuration.  They all molded up with a higher PLH than the production Z's and have a lot less dome.

Throwing mine reminds me more of a fresh champ teebird or 2nd run fd than a production Z. Straight with fade.  Mine doesn't have any turn on a 300' throw.

So if you liked the ace race version you aren't being left out, you'll just have to cough up a few extra bucks for a limited run disc.
