Lots of people like this for their throwing putter. I Use it strictly for putting or short upshots. It has worked wonders for my putting consistency! The groove helps me place my thumb and the soft plastic is super comfortable. I do think it is just a tad bit more soft than I would want, so if you like the plastic harder, go with a Pro D plastic, or Jawbreaker if you like it super durable. It is a beaded putter but I don't feel it much because of the groove. All around great putter and flies straight with little fade!

This is my first and still favorite putter I've thrown. I like the KC pro aviar and wedge for very specific reasons, but this is my all around choice for a putter. I have two, one soft x, and one jawbreaker. My soft is like 13 years old and I need to retire it, hence why I got the jawbreaker, but it's still fun to use. It's pretty misshapen so it has its own thing going on these days haha. The jawbreaker plastic feels great though, it's really comfortable and I'm confident with it. I don't understand the bad reviews on here, I really love this thing. Just a dash of predictable fade and amazing upshot potential. It's not the best for ripping off the tee, even with a lot of hyzer it will flip over, but for nice control shots you can place this where you want. I've never had the issue of getting my fingers caught on the rim or groove like some people posted on here, so I guess that just comes down to putting style.

The thumb groove on this disc was so pronounced that I could never feel like I was getting a clean release on my putts.  Sometimes, I don't even really notice a thumbtrack, like on a Caltrop or a Slammer, even a Buzzz GT, but this one fell in line with ones that I hate, like the Innova Birdie.

I also normally like soft putters, but this one was so soft, I could only think about it adding to my clean release issues.

I've had two X Soft Banger GTs and a Special Edition Z Banger GT for several years now as my main putters and they've been pretty disappointing. For the most part, I loved the grip and feel of the Soft X plastic as well as the Groove Top; however, my thumb and fingers would constantly get caught on the GT and the big lip of the putter, screwing up my entire putt. It's glide was also very inconsistent. Occassionally, it felt like a 3.0 Glide disc, but most of the time, it felt like a 1.75-2.0 Glide disc. I also really didn't like the overstability of this disc and it would fade hard left (RHBH) at the end of longer putts. In terms of putting, it was consistent within 15 ft. on the basket (which is the case with most of the putters on the market); however, outside of 20 ft putts, the GTs would either be way to short or way too long. With longer putts, the Banger becomes so inconsistent and so inaccurate, that it really affects your game in a negative way. Also, the Z Banger was pretty bad as well. It was really hard to get a great grip and release on it for short drives and long upshots. It also consistently turned over when I wanted it to be overstable. Overall, the Banger GTs have some nice features on it and I could see some players really loving them, but for me, I don't like them at all. I believe that they are way too inconsistent and inaccurate. If you want more consistency and accuracy as well as a straighter flight path, I highly recommend the Latitude 64 Pures and if you want a more consistent overstable putter, might I recommend the Westside Harp.

The Banger-GT was one of my very first putters. I purchased it because the natural thumb grove seemed to make sense when I first started putting. The Soft Banger-GT felt better in my hands for putting. It's a pretty stable putter for upshots, and if your a spin putter like me.

For some reason as my skills in putting improved, I started perferring putters without the groove and then gradually moved to that style. Sorry Banger-GT.

Either way this disc is pretty cool. If you're searching for putters, I'd say give this one a shot.

Got to say this is a really great all around putter. The Groove part of it might be a little hard to get used to if your coming from a flat flight plate but it ands a really nice feel for your grip as does the bead. Flys straight when you need it to and bends around trees when you need as well. Honestly nothing bad to say about it, other than it's made by Discraft, not a big fan of them, but this is my go to putter.

The instant I put my hands on this disc I fell in love with it. Has one of the best feels to any disc I've ever touched. Elite X Soft is great, but dont let it fool you, it still beats in on the same level that Pro D does. I also have a speical edition Elite Z, and it just doesnt feel nearly as good because of how stiff it is, the EXS really gives into your grip.

Currently the one I use is a 168 with some mild wear. This is an excellent go to disc for any kind shot. It works on approach, short drives and of course in the circle when you need that grip. I have two more on the way. It cetainly will hold lines, and has a moderate stability.

As much as I love this disc, I dont break it out as much because of the MVP/Axiom putters I primarily use, but when grip is an issue, this thing comes out all the time.

    Pros:
    - Holds lines
    - Flat out shots will cruise nicely with a minor fade
    - Grippiest of the grip!
    - Groove Top allows for some serious control

    Cons:
    - Beats in as easily as Pro-D
    - Is not made in ESP FLX

The Banger-GT is a phenomenal putter, I suggest it to many of my friends who have just started playing disc golf. My friends and I all love the groove top as it gives a natural place for the thumb and gives it that extra control. It has some nice glide for approach shots. There are lots of putters out there, but the GT is the only one from discraft with the groove top. Check it out!
